Avoid Eagle Electric, Danny Pharr CCB License 192277 and Jake Allen (NOT an electrician, Jake is in his first year at Portland Community College to become one). My review would be a repeat of most of what has been said here. Jake Allen misrepresented his role on the project, a service relocation and re-wire of our home, and Daniel "Danny" Pharr refused to meet with us to resolve the issues created by a crew unqualified to be doing the work. Despite repeated requests, Danny has refused to talk with us on the phone or meet with us. Jake Allen no longer responds to our calls and emails either. We are following the procedures set out by the Construction Contractors Board (CCB), where Danny holds his license. We sent a certified letter to Danny indicating our intention to file a complaint in 30 days. The CCB told us that such a warning normally results in the contractor responding in order to clean up their mess and get things back on track. Danny Pharr never responded to the letter. We haven't heard from Jake Allen. Eagle Electric is not who you want to work with. Hopefully this will save others the grief we face. read more

Do not hire Eagle Electric under any circumstances. Their work is sloppy, their office is disorganized and incompetent, and the owner treats his customers like dirt. We made the mistake of hiring them for a fairly large job, including removing knob and tube, rewiring our main floor, and adding new outlets and outdoor lights. We were told our project would take 4-6 days spread out over two weeks. Yet after two months of stepping around their trash, we got so tired of waiting for them to finish that I eventually just did the last bit of work myself. And as for that trash, they never took it with them, ignoring their contractual obligation as well as my verbal and written requests that they do so. You should know that if the job is not done within the time the shop has allotted, no further work will be scheduled unless you call the office repeatedly and insist that they send somebody back. I was told on several occasions that I would have to wait two weeks before work would continue, and they weren't even halfway done. When I spoke to the owner, he acted like had no idea what was going on with his crew and made minimal effort to resolve the issue. If you hire Eagle, you will become a project manager whether you like it or not. Painful. If your experience with them is anything like ours, here's what you can expect... The incompetence: 1. The bid/estimate process will be a mess. 2. They will show up on day one with someone else's work description. 3. They will have inexperienced and unsupervised apprentices doing much of the work (if they even bother to show up, which is no guarantee). If you're lucky, they will put deep scratches in your hardwood floor and hope you won't notice. If you're extra lucky, they will leave live exposed wires in your kitchen for four days and not tell you about it. 4. The office will rarely return your calls and will never follow through with anything they promise to do. 5. They will send a city inspector before the electrician is ready and without notifying the electrician that this is happening. 6. They will send that inspector with a permit for (you guessed it) someone else's work description. 7. This will happen again two weeks later when they're actually ready for inspection. 8. You will have to ask them to call in a third inspection (with the correct permit) multiple times because they will forget to do it. 9. They will fail the third inspection. The mess: 1. They will not open the windows to ventilate while drilling holes through old paint. 2. They will not vacuum dust or debris, even when notified of a homeowner's medical condition. 3. They will not clean much of anything at the end of the day and will not haul their trash away at the end of the project. 4. They will drill a big hole through the ceiling in the wrong room because they will not be paying attention (you, however, will be paying attention to the cost of repairing it). 5. They will install boxes carelessly, leaving outlets crooked and sticking out of the wall. 6. As a bonus, they will leave blood spatter on your bathroom wall when they cut themselves while working. Of course, you will have to clean this up yourself unless you want to wait two weeks for them to take care of it. The ugly: 1. Your electric wall heater and thermostat, which were taken down at your request, may disappear. When you tell them you expect to be reimbursed the cost of replacement, the heater will magically reappear in a trash bag that had already been searched multiple times (your thermostat will still be MIA). 2. One of them will park in your neighbors' driveway and will mutter rude comments when your spouse politely asks him to move his van... for the third day in a row. 3. They will repeatedly assure their drywall repairman (who you can hire separately) that they are done and that he can start and complete his work. The owner will refuse to take responsibility when (of course) they are wrong and the repairman has to return to fix damage that they promised would be covered. 4. The owner will send you rude emails demanding payment for incomplete work. 5. He will then send you an invoice with a partial mailing address, ignore your email asking for the full and correct address (added touch: their online information is outdated), and then threaten legal action two weeks later when he's somehow surprised that a check hasn't arrived in the mail. It's worth noting that despite all of this, the journeyman assigned to our house, Travis, was great throughout the entire process and very little of the above applies to him. He tried very hard to make up for the apprentices' and the shop's shortcomings. In fact, he is the one and only reason that we did not fire this company. Part of me hates to trash Eagle because he was so good to us and worked so hard for us, but at the end of the day (or 60+ days), I have never had a such a bad experience with a company, and I wouldn't wish a contract with Eagle Electric on my worst enemy. read more

We failed more inspections than I care to remember, we were accused of luring, we were under quoted, we were under delivered, I had guys going walks out. In short a total disaster. I needed my recently purchased home rewired to replace knob and tube wiring before moving in. I had several quotes, went with Eagle because the quoted price was reasonable (not the lowest) and the quoted schedule worked for my target move in date. I wrote a check for 50% up front. When they called to schedule the first appt., they said that they would be there for one day, then start the rest a month later. This would have delayed my move in by a month. I called the person who gave me the quote to let him know this was unacceptable. He said he there were people out injured / sick and they were running behind. I told him that I needed to cancel if they could not finish within the quoted schedule. He told me that they would try to move things around OR he could see about reducing the price for the inconvenience. I told them to proceed with moving the service panel / meter to the other side of my home based on this conversation. I copied the owner of Eagle when I emailed to confirm. He responded that any reduction in price needed his approval and would be "up to a couple of hundred dollars." I refused to sign the contract at this point, canceled my deposit, and informed Eagle that I would only pay for work done after passing city inspection. The completed work passed city inspection, but PGE found that the weather hen needed to be moved 2 ft. higher and the attachment point was wrong. Eagle came back 3 times, never got the attachment point correct and never raised the weather hen. I ended up having both issues fixed by the company I hired to finish the work. Avoid this company at all costs. They can't keep their schedule commitments, they clearly don't know code for PGE, and more than one city inspector rolled their eyes when I mentioned Eagle had done the work. read more

We gutted our house, and over 2 years ago we hired Eagle Electric to wire the house. They wired the ceiling fan to the wrong switch, you have to turn the light on , on the other side of the room to make the fan work, They also used recalled smoke alarms in our house. We had a couple other little things that my Husband finished himself. We tried calling them a number of times, and their voice mail is always full!. We owed them some money and were planning on paying when they fixed their problems they left undone. They sent us a notice to sue. We paid them and still, we have issues that weren`t repaired. Really? The entire crew was hired the day they showed up. Nothing like workers with no experience. They ruined the floors in my house and said they would rewire it while actually using existing circuits. I never left a bad review at the time because I was really hoping things just went awry with our project, perhaps all the stars did not align and Eagle Electric just "had a bad day", but now after reading all the other reviews I feel terrible I never left my comments, perhaps I could have saved someone the expense, frustration and heartache that comes along with hiring Eagle Electric. Eagle Electric sends out someone to quote who is not an electrician. They over promise and under deliver. Eagle Electric actually only sent one qualified electrician, the other 2 were apprentices. We were remodeling a triplex and to use an apprentice on a commercial project is simply unsafe, we were not paying for an apprentice we were quoted on an electrician. We also found one of their apprentice electricians asleep in a car in our driveway. Halfway through the day the electrician and the apprentices found an abandoned safe, they decided to crack it open rather than finish the scope of work initially quoted. They did not finish the work and did not come back the next day. I called requesting that they please finish the job, I also mentioned that the scope of work listed in their quote did not match what was on file with the permit office in the city. In short they had not permitted all the work and were trying to cut corners. After they finally came back 2 weeks later to complete the work we failed the electrical inspection TWO TIMES. We could lost our allotted time with the drywall-er and had to cancel travel plans as were were not behind schedule 4 weeks thanks to Eagle Electric. We went on to fail Final inspection TWICE and even the city inspector implied we should hire another company to finish the job. A couple of months later The owner Danny Pharr demanded final payment, he lead me to believe that a lien would be placed if we did not pay. He claimed (and I am sure he will write below) that: "The inspection and delay issues were primarily due to the illegal work done prior to our arrival on the job" Danny Pharr - Isn't that why you send someone out to quote? Not wanting a fight I paid my bill and never though anything about it till I saw one of his vans driving around Portland, it made me so mad that that I searched reviews online and found that he has continued to operate this way and it was not just a once off. Dishonest and unprofessional. They charged me for a city permit but never obtained one, They also showed-up once without an appointment and then added two additional charges for that "missed appointment". read more

We had Eagle come in and give us a bid on rewiring our kitchen. Our house is 1950 and we only had 2 outlets on the counter, no grounded wires, wanted recessed lights. Our circuit breaker box was fortunately right below our kitchen. Space was fine and enough breakers to do the work. Eagle wanted and I agreed, that appliances should be on dedicated circuits. After we signed the contract on Nov 12th and paid half down, we didn't hear from them for 3 weeks to get a date scheduled. I emailed and called and there were people sick and then I was promised someone would contact me and they didn't. I still have all my email correspondence. After a month we finally set a work date that ended up being after Christmas. The person doing the schedule was going to set up the work to be done over 2 days and I said I was told it was going to be 3 1/2 days, w/2 people. 6+ weeks after signing contract. That's 6 weeks paid, no work being done. Our bid price was quoted based on it being a 2 person job for 3 full days and a half day for trim. I took vacation for 4 days to be home for the people to work. On work day only 1 worker showed up and was assigned. The worker did a fantastic job but it amazes me that the worker show up to a job and they have no job description of ("the WORK") in their tablets or printed, they haven't been given a copy of "the WORK" that is under contract to be done. So I have to go over the work to be done and I hope all is getting done correctly. The lights wiring weren't ran new. They were tied into the existing light wiring. No new wiring was done for the 3-way switch either. Under the contract, 2 - 3 way dimmer switches were to be installed, but the worker said only 1 should be installed. That miss quote is $45 added to the contract. Money they owed me money back. I was paying for all new wiring from box to lights to 3 way switches (which turned out to be 1 switch) under contract. Money they owned me money back. I was told this was a 2 person job, 3 1/2 days. If they'd sent 2 people, this might have been a 1+ day job instead of 3+ which would have saved me a couple days of vacation. If I could give Eagle Electric 2 scores, I'd give them a 2 for the administrative side and a 4 for single worker that came out. Hence my score of 3. Now, Eagle also does cabinets. We had them build us a couple small base cabinets. I would not recommend using them for cabinets. I again have all my emails. Delayed install. Bad measurements or lack of. The list goes on. The only reason I used them was their bid was about $200 cheaper than the other 3 bids I took. If I could go back and do it over, I'd have paid more. After getting the cabinets finally installed, I immediately told them great job, they look great and thanks. But after looking at them after I sent that email, I found many flaws. Cheap roller hardware, loose drawers, not square ( I had to fix), the knobs were put in the wrong spot by 1/2", there was tape still on them from recently being painted, seam line visible on a correction to the tow kick, 1 cabinet door wasn't even centered...... Just pass on the cabinets if they ask. The cabinets, we were told, would be done before Christmas. The week before Christmas they're calling me with questions: toe kick, hardware, hinges, shelves....all of this I thought was taken care of earlier. So a couple days before we thought they might be installed, delay, delay, delay. January 7th was install date. If you do use Eagle, get everything in writing. And put in contract all stipulations, deadlines, etc. And after all the this, we finally get an invoice email on Feb 16th, but the invoices are due dated Jan 12th. And on Feb 22 they email me asking for money because bill is past due. 3 stars might be too good. You decide. read more

I hired Eagle Electric to do some work on an ADU I constructed on my property. It's a long story, but the short of it is, they began doing some work without my approval, and did the work against code (bored holes that were too big through load bearing rafters). When I pointed it out and tried to get them to repair it, they tried to get ME to pay for the repairs. When I refused this began a months long ordeal of trying to get them to right what they did wrong. I finally got fed up with trying to work with them and decided to hire another electrician. I asked them for a partial refund of the 50% deposit they had requested as they had not completed 50% of the work. They then came back and said they had completed MORE than 50% of the work and tried to get more money out of me and threatened to put a lien on my house. By this time I was so fed up I just chucked it up to a loss and fired them. They ended up basically stealing a couple thousand dollars from me and delaying my project two months. And the most frustrating thing is when I hired the new electrician to do the repairs and complete the work, it only took him a day. If Eagle Electric had done the right thing and accepted responsibility for their mistakes they would have gained a long term customer. As it is now I would never ever use them again. They are the most dishonest unprofessional contractors I have ever worked with. If I could give zero stars I would. I had Eagle do a kitchen re-wire. I completely regret calling them. Estimator came out, cashed my advance payment the same day, said he'd get back to me on schedule (crucial home sale!!). He didn't , I called him, complained, he said the office would call me. They didn't. I called. They gave me dates, they showed up a week early. Three new circuits, open studs, no obstructions. I was told it would take 3 days, $120 per hour, $160 for first hour. I was quoted about $3400. Being a contractor myself, I thought this was ridiculous, knowing it should take a day and a half, tops. So I asked for a time and materials job. It took 9 hours, two people, and they still wanted to bill me about $2900!! More than $300 per hour!! The apprentice couldnt even run wire correctly or install a box straight. And he costs $120 and hour! WTH?!! So, I negotiated them down. That much I can commend them for, perhaps knowing that their prices are ridiculous to begin with. Come to find the recessed light doesn't work (its a can!!), there's no neutral stub out for my switch. I called the electrician (he [nice guy!] no longer works for them, said responsiveness does not appear to be their thing)), he said the office would get in touch, they didnt. I finally scheduled a day for the recessed light to be checked. 8am Monday morning. Wait for it............. NO SHOW!! NO PHONE CALL!! NO ANSWER! I left message. No response. Dogged all the way round! Save your money and hair. DO NOT call Eagle!! read more
