Troubleshot a ceiling fan that wasn't working. I was worried there might be a short because it was getting a little bit of power according to a voltage detector. It is an old house with ungrounded wiring, so I wanted to get it checked out. Turned out one of those wire nut connections had come apart in the fan box. Dennis came here quickly and diagnosed and fixed it quickly. Totally professional. His work was clean and detailed (as it should be). Also, he wore booties and cleaned up perfectly after the job. Price was quite reasonable for professional work. Dennis looked at some other stuff in the house for me too and gave me some information and prices. Also told me what he charged, which was competitive. The advice didn't work, and I subsequently discovered other outlets had stopped working. The quote they emailed me (having never seen the extent of my specific needs) was MUCH higher than three other electricians' quotes. The project (installation and equipment) should have been in the $1000 range. Their quote came in, WITHOUT any equipment, for $1500. We did not contract with this particular company. Perhaps they were too busy, but no person ever reached out to us. It is a shame because this project--replacing four exhaust fans--was relatively simple. read more

I am sure he is a competent electrician but cant verify that as I did not select him for the project. When he came out to took at the project as he was leaving he looked around at my home and commented about the value of it. His estimate obviously took this into account as his price was ridiculous. After receiving his estimate got quotes from other electricians. His price was 3x what others quoted. This was not a complex job, just adding 4 outlets in an easy to run open space and the guy wanted $850 a drop +tax +permits. Based on my profession experience as a commercial construction estimator and project manager, his quote worked out to about $300 an hour. An unheard of rate for an electrician. read more
