9/6/24. Avoid this location, horrible customer service experience or lack of. Lady at this location was unhelpful, lazy and plain rude. We just wanted to ask a couple questions about the brands and sizing of the ceiling fans that we were interested in. Woman employee - "Well there's a whole room of them: theres 42s", 52s", 60s". All while sitting in her office chair, didn't bother to stand up to help or guide us. THEN she proceeds to finally get off of her bottom to walk away to help a more "well off" looking customer. No crap there a whole room full of different sizes! Can you elaborate? HELP? or give us some more information LADY???? read more

I was in Portland with my partner a couple of months ago, and we have been involved in a remodel project at our home, our living room, dining room and kitchen. It was a major undertaking and the only hanging fixture we were going to need was going to be something over the new dining room table. Our friends recommended globe lighting, and I have to say I couldn't be happier! Not only is their service stellar, but they have such a wide variety of fixtures of any kind along with lightbulbs. The staff is super knowledgeable. They answered all our questions and More never trying to pressure us about a sale. I could not begin to say enough nice things about them. They packaged our fixture up and shipped it out to us here in California. They were fast. They were helpful. They answered any questions we might have and any concerns. I've had an opportunity to talk with each and every one of them. Mike Carlile the store manager, Stephanie Goad, Adam Johnson were the main people that we were in contact with. I can't thank you all enough for such a stellar experience with your store and with everyone there. It really means a lot. I highly recommend you run to their store to take a look at the wide and vast inventory that they have and talk to them about your needs because I'm sure they'll be able to help you out! I'm a satisfied customer and a lifelong fan! One of the pictures is of the fixture as we saw it in the back room where they have a variety of items that there's only one or two or just a few left and the other is a picture of the fixture in our dining room, although we've yet to get our dining room furniture. But the fixture sure looks wonderful. Can't wait to see it above the new table. I have never made an actual purchase at this store, but I can promise you that the next time I need a lighting fixture this is where I'll go. The folks here are so kind and helpful. I moved from CA to Portland and in the process of the move a socket ring fell off my lamp. They spent so much time and energy trying to help me find the right socket ring replacement even though I wasn't even a paying customer. And when they couldn't find a size that would work, they directed me to another spot that did have the socket ring I needed. You can tell that the folks that work here are truly good people. Went in several weeks ago to get a bulb replaced that was burned out from a fan containing a light fixture. The fan is an older fan. I brought the burned out bulb with me. Upon entering I was helped immediately and asked the salesman if they had the light bulb. After a little research, the salesperson went into the back and produced two bulbs. He advised that the bulbs were obsolete and said I could have them free of charge. A few weeks later I needed a light bulb for ceiling mounted strip lighting that had a burned out bulb. The bulb was had to be ordered from their Seattle facility because it was out of stock at the Portland store. The strip lighting is very old and I was informed that the bulb was becoming obsolete. I ordered two just in case I wouldn't be able to find them again. The staff was very knowledgable and assisted me as soon as I walked in the door. read more

Went to store, found what we wanted with help of clerk, paid, picked up boxes from distribution ctr. Got home, wrong item. Returned to distribution ctr, took 30 minutes then they told me they couldn't find it, then out of stock, then no longer produced. Didn't seem to really know. Called the clerk next day, explained situation, she stated computer shows in stock and would talk to boss and call me back. Waited two days, never called. Called her again on a Friday, didn't remember until I reminded her of situation, said that she would get to bottom of it and would certainly call me on Monday. No call on Monday! Disappointment since this has been our preferred store since 2006 when we renovated a house. read more

We needed some of the fixtures that day so she helped us choose fixtures we could pick up that from the distribution center within moments of completing the sale which kept us on schedule with the electrician and our remodel project. I came in one day in Dec. 2021 for replacement bulbs for my track lighting. I'm 0% knowledgeable on track lighting so I very much appreciated Jordan's help/guidance and ability to quickly order the correct bulbs based on a dead bulb I brought in. I went to buy a new vanity light fixture because our old one was broken...the metal shade had detached and was hanging. The guys looked at the picture of it, handed me a small metal ring, and said, "That"ll take care of it!" It was a replacement piece that had come off the old fixture and was lost. They saw right away what was needed to fix it, and handed me the part.....with no charge!!! I was prepared to spend about $300 on a new light, and they handed me a free part and didn't make a sale! When the ring that connected the chain link to our chandelier lamp broke, we thought we'd have to buy a new lamp and went to Globe Lighting. No, showroom salesperson Jordon Chon told us, just replace the ring. He gave us a new ring -- didn't charge us, just gave it to us. He also supplied a list of electricians Globe Lighting works with who could do the repair. When we had had our house renovated five years ago, we had bought several light fixtures there and, when two didn't fit where we hoped to install them, we returned them, no problem, and Globe showed us alternatives -- for LESS than the original ones we had bought. Two examples of their being concerned about serving their customers needs, not just making bucks. They're honest, reliable, quality people. If we have future lighting needs, that's where we'd go. We cannot recommend them strongly enough. read more

Very nice but no follow through, really could've went anywhere to get my tiny Halogen bulbs but chose the convenient Globe store. Guy said he would put in the order so I could pick up from the distribution center down the street. I gave him 2 1/2 hours till I went there.Turns out he simply forgot, okay no worries but then after the distribution center calls him, (while I'm waiting) he puts in the wrong order 120V instead of 12V and claims it's correct. Nice place with tons of inventory to look at, both indoor and outdoor. Have bought under-counter and wall sconces here. Just got 2 wall sconces for $100 less than ONE very similar sconce at Rejuvenation, that place is getting insanely expensive. And, much better quality and more interesting than the big home centers. Service is very nice, they won't follow you around or anything, very pleasant. Check it out if you need some unique lighting. read more

I dropped by Globe Lighting because none of the hardware stores in my area had a threaded nipple with an unusual diameter that I needed to hang a vintage chandelier. Dean immediately offered to help me, even though the store doesn't sell parts like that. My husband and I were looking for wall sconces last weekend. We were never asked if we needed help and when I sought someone out to ask for help, I felt as if I were being a bother. The salesman told me the sconce we were looking at was out of stock but he would do some checking on Monday morning and call me. On Monday afternoon, I still hadn't heard anything so I called him. He told me he was just getting ready to check on the light and would call me back within 20 minutes. It has been a day and a half since I spoke to him and still no phone call. This review is only based on our experience with Joshua today. We came in because we are building a new home and our builder recently switched to Globe as their new lighting vendor. Joshua was AMAZING to work with. He was so nice and patient, gave us suggestions and not to mention very knowledgeable whenever we had questions about anything. This is the kind of customer service I love and hope every business /person should treat their customers. They have a wide selection of lighting /fans, but I can't say anything about the delivery, installation or quality of their products just yet. Hopefully everything will work out fine since we were a little worried reading the negative reviews, but dealing with Joshua made us feel more confident in our selection and the whole process. Globe Lighting has the largest variety of lighting in pdx. They mostly have traditional and classic looking fixtures on display. Unfortunately the retail space isn't ideal with too many fixtures too close together and very low ceilings. They do have excellent pricing though. Tthis is also their distribution warehouse location, so you can usually pick up anything they have in stock right away. They also have a good online website/catalog for odering/browsing that gives you all the product info. read more

I purchased a ceiling fan from Globe Lighting 5 years ago and recently had to get a replacement for the wall control unit. I was given the wrong replacement 2 times before they realized which one it actually needed. Three weeks and $50 later I finally had the correct wall unit.
