I found Winner Electric on Yelp search while looking for electricians in the east-of-Portland area. I needed an assortment of electrical issues addressed on my home. Open junctions, inoperable outlets and switches, questionable wiring, and unfinished projects: these are some of the trappings of owning an older home. Paul came out to do an estimate on our project. I had the project bid by multiple companies. Winner's attitude, willingness to take on the project, and prompt follow up with a quote earned them the job. We had a scheduling mishap, but I won't take stars off for that. It was resolved quickly. I am super happy with the work completed. The electricians came out and worked most of the day in all areas of my home. They replaced breakers, outlets, switches, and resolved loose and unsafe wiring that was downstairs and in my garage. Winner answered my questions, and if something didn't seem right, they worked together to find the root cause of the issue rather than applying a workaround. I was so happy with the work completed, that I hired Winner back a second time, a couple weeks later, to complete the wiring to an outbuilding and reconfigure the wiring in my garage. That work was largely completed Friday - waiting on a part to finish up a couple aspects, but I'm happy with this work as well. We had a large project with a lot of moving parts: removing an old boiler, adding new heat pump, removing old hot water, adding new tank-less hot water, and adding a generator. We interviewed 5 electricians, 5 plumbers, 5 HVAC outfits and chose Winner for all the electrical work. Winner did an outstanding job as did NW Gaslines that Winner recommended. Generator install was flawless as was the sub-panel addition to isolate generator from solar panels. Winner even pointed out a kinked coolant line on an existing mini-split when they were poking around - an AC unit we had had the installer back 3 times to fix since it wasn't performing and the original installers didn't find anything wrong. Winner guys are paying attention! During the sub-panel install I decided to have them upgrade the sub panel form 75 to 100 amp AFTER they had just finished it and they did the upgrade without complaint. Winner Electric was very responsive and I worked with Jocelyn to get the project started. I was able to send them photos via text for quotes and timeline on my project. The prices given to me were reasonable and they were able to put me onto their schedule relatively quickly. However, the one star I'm knocking them off for is they had to reschedule my install due to them being behind on other projects and I was only notified a day before of the project date. Another, different, company that bid on our job, definitely inspired confidence. However, the other company never mentioned anything about the rebates, and their markup on items (permits, flood light, etc.) were really high. Paul and Winner Electric gave the most reasonable and fair bid (25% less than the other company, overall, not even including the $1,300 in rebates thru PGE), and completed the job when they said they would, and with high quality. Let me begin by saying my home has some very old wiring. There is also a bonus room that was added well before I purchased the home. The wiring in that room probably 'just' passed code at the time it was added. That being said, Winner Electric is amazing. The first project was to put in a new breaker panel. David completed the work in record time given the wonkiness of the wiring. We then had Winner out to put a new circuit in the kitchen. Apparently everything in the kitchen was originally on the same circuit which kept causing a circuit to pop. The guys that came out were very professional. I have been cursed with home repairs recently so, of course, in the evening, after the inspector came to give approval of the new panel, power go out in part of the bonus room. We tried flipping the breaker, etc. and when we finally had given up and contacted Winner to come out again, it mysteriously came back on. The next morning Paul came out, let me add that they were short 2 journeymen at the time, to investigate the issue. He found a plug that was as old as dirt. It broke in his hand when he removed it. He replaced the plug and another old one that was in the bathroom. Paul said that this should resolve the problem. I am hoping that it will but, I also feel confident that Winner will be on top of resolving the problem if it doesn't. Jocelyn and Paul are great! They are responsive and professional.
