I am not an interior decorator, and so when I was building my house I was pretty nervous to pick out the lighting. Globe has a HUGE selection, which is a plus, but it can be very intimidating to navigate. Amy was one of the nicest, most patient, helpful people I have ever worked with. She figured out my style, went above and beyond when things went wrong to fix them ASAP, dealt with my anxiety over purchases, and really helped me to get what I want within my budget. Globe obviously empowers their employees to make good business decisions on their behalf. I was also impressed by the receptionist, who fielded my sometimes 3x a day calls to whomever I needed to speak to and never got irritated. If you are looking for large or small lighting purchases, I would certainly recommend going to Globe first. read more

im not sure how Globe Lighting is still in business. I had a new home built and the builder used Globe as the lighting vendor, so i was forced to pick my lighting out of their catalog. I upgraded most of my lighting fixtures to crystal and also lighting in my kitchen. I spent over 5 grand with Globe on upgrades. When it came time to install the entry way chandalier it was mounted to high. I complained about this and Globe said they would come out and fix it. They didn't tell me the day they would come until the night before the repair. At the time i was not living in the home and it hadn't closed yet so i was not readily available with a 12 hour notice. When they installed the pendants in my kitchen they looked god awful. Part of this is my fault for choosing the pendants, but it was insisted i choose my lighting first before choosing my kitchen colors and home decor, which you never do in interior design, lighting should come towards the end. Globe did agree to place the pendants, and the ones i chose from the pictures sent to me looked like the right color. So i had Miranda with Globe install the different pendants. When it came time to close on the home, the pendants were a nasty green color completely different then the rest of the kitchen. When you turn the light on, it actually is the color in the picture sent, but there was no reference of the picture shown in the catalogs with lights on or off. I would have thought for a lighting company they would know to check on this but apparently not. After the second pendant install Miranda had a pendant shipped for me to look at so we can see the real color and shape. After a month and a half of reviewing two pendants, i chose one i liked, and she had it shipped to the store for me to approve. It haws now been over a month since that time and Globe still has not been out to my home to fix the pendants. Its also going to cost me over $400 to have the chandelier lowered to the proper height because Globe will not come back and lower it with me at the home. They said its too expensive for them to get 4 guys to come and with a ladder and lower the chandelier. Perhaps if they did right the first time by setting up an appointment with me a few days in advance, this would have all worked out. Do yourself a favor and avoid the headaches, go to lamps plus or somewhere else who know how to install lighting. read more

The most absolute worst experience ever. My husband and I own a business and went in to look at some lighting for a house we are flipping. We walked around for 45 min and not 1 person came up and asked if they could help us. I will never do business with a company that won't even acknowledge you. Recently we purchased lights for our home from Globe Lighting. We had to special order one of the lights and the rest would come from the Portland/Seattle warehouses. We were told that it would take 2 weeks for the order. No calls from Globe, so I called today to find out that the lights coming from Seattle had to be ordered from the manufacture and were shipped today. When the order was delayed, Globe should have called to let me know, instead they dropped the ball. This is a customer service issue that should have NEVER happened. I have already rescheduled the electrician once. read more

I have been working with Jordan on a difficult fan problem. We ended up with a fan that did not meet our needs. Jordan was great, he found us a new one, took the old one back and helped us with a chandelier problem which no one could find a solution for, certainly not Home Depot. We've been buying our lamps as well as our lighting fixtures at Globe for many years. Recently one of the reading lamps stopped working so I took it into Globe for repair. The salesman Dean Pimental asked me when I bought it, and I wasn't sure so said at least 5 years ago. He found the order 9 years ago, but also found that the lamp has been discontinued so he doubted that it could be repaired. I told him that I'd like to leave it off for the repairman, and said that I had full confidence he would be able to repair it for me. Two days later I got a call that the lamp was fixed and ready for me to pick it up. When I asked for the bill Dean and smiled saying "no charge" since I was a long-standing customer. She guided my through some tricky technical information and helped me with my design. She followed up with tracking information and helped me all along the way until delivery. We worked with people in the NW and Clackamas stores. They are very well trained, professional, and helpful. Everything we bought (sight unseen, from the on-line catalog) is perfect except for one torchiere. We brought it back because it was poorly made and shoddy. They took it back with no restocking fee. They have given us a lot of very helpful advice about light bulbs and how to light our craftsman house to advantage. We worked with Rey in NW and Josh in Clackamas. Just had a horrible customer service experience. I purchased a lamp that they then gave away to another customer. Of course, nobody told me and I waited by the front desk for a half hour until I could get service. No reason, no apology.... nothing. Thanks for nothing Josh. You guys could use some real service training and learn how to recover when things don't go right. read more

Our contractor suggested Globe Lighting when we needed to buy a new ceiling fan for our bedroom, and apparently he has had good service from them in the past. But our experience with this store was pretty much of a nightmare. The stock is good and the salespeople can be quite pleasant. But our fan took three weeks to come in (from Seattle) and when it did, it had the wrong blades. New blades were ordered with "expedited" shipping--this delivery took seven days, and they sent the same (wrong) blades as the first time. Fortunately, one of the managers pulled a set from another box, which I suspect could have been done right from the beginning. The light kit we had ordered was missing in action, and the manager promised that when it arrived, the store would install it without charge as a courtesy for all the problems we'd encountered. Nine days later, I had heard that the light kit was available for pickup, but when my husband asked the manager about the free installation, he was told that nothing had been promised, and that someone higher up in the company (who was not there that day) would have to okay it, as he didn't have the authority. At his point we decided a fan with no light was better than dealing with Globe Lighting any further. Since moving to Portland last fall, we have been impressed by nearly all the vendors we have dealt with in terms of courtesy and responsibility. Not this one. Shop here at your peril. read more

horrible experience. my husband and I went in on a Saturday with exactly what we wanted in mind and as we walked in a girl sitting at the front desk greeted us with a hello and that was it. we walked around a bit just to see if there was anything new. We then went up the front desk and said we were ready to purchase and was told oh I am sorry but we are really busy today so if you could sign in on the clip board someone would be with us soon. I was shocked as to why she didn't tell us that when we walked in so we could have signed in right away but that was not mentioned. I told her we already knew what we wanted we just needed to pay she yes unfortunately you still have to sign in. As we waited another couple had some lamps from the clearance room and wanted to pay for them she then told them they also had to sign in to pay for them they were also shocked. When our name finally got called the sales girls skipped my name and I had to run up and say sorry but we were next and she then proceeded to tell me that oh well it better be fast cause I am going to lunch.. I said well I already have the item numbers and quantity of what I want and she said oh ok that fine then. I was just shocked at that whole process I have been there many times and have never had that kind of service or been told to sign in on a sheet and why would they not have a receptionist taking money for people who come in with what they want in mind or for the people buying stuff out of the clearance room.
