New location and same great service. If you're looking for trim pieces for your home this is the place to start. They carry most styles and both in wood and pressboard. When I installed my new front door, I wanted to match the trim to other pieces in the house and without any problems they had it in stock ready to go. read more

Best wood shop in town for millwork! Professional and vast inventory. Fun just to explore as well-and great staff

Made a special trip to this place on a Saturday morning. The only person that was there told us they are short staffed and that he had to stay by the register and couldn't help us. They don't have prices on anything and don't have a price list they could give us. Have exactly are you supposed to shop here then??? What a giant waste of time! Go somewhere else! read more

These guys are amazing! Their sales manager was super kind, approachable and knowledgeable. They helped me select quality wood baseboard, saved us some cash and even delivered our baseboard the same day. This allowed my husband to install our beautiful new baseboard just in time for Christmas. Thank you McCoy Millwork-you're awesome! read more

I went to all the local hardware stores and I couldn't find a piece of molding until someone directed me to McCoy They were super friendly, very professional and they had my molding Thank you so much such a relief read more

My wife and I went in to look at baseboard options prepared to buy for our entire house since we recently replaced our floors. Their showroom was empty with no other customers. There was 1 person being helped at their counter. They had at least 3 people working and not one of them even acknowledged we had walked in. We wandered around feeling a bit lost with lots of questions. We were there approx. 10-15 minutes and still no one helped or said a word of greeting. From our observation, their selection was the same as another local company who we had a much better customer experience with and we will be going back to them. We left McCoy's feeling ignored and frustrated. read more

I came here about 10 years ago to get some ideas about mounting a breakfast bar area in my kitchen. They were great, explaining things, talking through options, how much weight they would hold, etc. I ended up buying three large pieces, but it was still a small order. Well, fast forward, and I go in to ask about ideas for another small project - I'm told they can't help, that should talk to my designer or my contractor. Guess what? Like a LOT of others in Portland, I go DIY whenever possible and rely on specialists to help figure out what options are available and practical. I said I didn't have a contractor because I'm doing it myself - no go. It would've taken about five minutes. Completely different experience than I had before. read more

We went to McCoy's for the material to redo our staircase. They were very helpful and their catalog is superb. The project hit some very big road bumps(no fault of McCoys) but they were responsive and helpful with additional items and returns, even months after the project was supposed to be finished. Highly recommend. read more

What a great company. Great start, thoughtful about their covid response and amazing selection of unique trim for older homes. And a modern check out that supported paying with a Samsung pay was icing on the cake. I'm a customer forever. Thanks for the help and the laughs team McCoy!! read more

We've been using McCoy Millwork for the past 15 years, they're our "go to" source for all of our unique remodeling millwork needs. Wow...what a pretentious place. My husband and I stopped in yesterday to look at some beadboarding for our kitchen remodel..and we were not greeted/ignored as we waited patiently at the counter ...and later greeted snottily and ignored. It was really bizarre. Ummm...really? I will not be passing along positive reviews to anyone about this place. I'm super easy going and never normally have major issues with establishments but this one is terrible. read more

McCoy Millwork has helped us with Millwork for 22 years. They are prompt to answer the phone. Their people are knowledgeable of Millwork and paneling materials they have. They provide competitive pricing. I've downloaded their catalogue on my phone. It a great reference tool to help with order decisions. Most of the time we're in and out fast with materials. You can reserve a time for them to deliver to the job site as well. If we call in an order to pick up, it's typically ready when we arrive. We give them 5 stars for product availability, pricing and customer service. . read more

Not sure where those previous reviewers shopped- we've been here twice recently and staff was helpful, friendly and not at all pretentious. We were looking to match trims on a 90 year old building (not an easy task). Online catalog is super detailed and we jumped for joy to see the profiles we thought were unobtainable are still in production at McCoy! Took in our snig-snaggety pieces of old trim into this fine establishment and they fixed us up with an exact match. Prices were much better than the local competition (we checked) but the lengths can be random so it takes some figuring to get what you need without wasting. My dear hubby is never one to make a quick decision in finalizing a purchase and they've been so patient and professional each visit. Add in a sweet dog, a dinosaur busting through the wall, free local coffee, and all the vintage trim your heart desires and you got a winner in my book! read more

When it came time to replace the porch floor on our 1920's house, we knew we wanted quality lumber. Luckily, our window guy told us about McCoy. The tongue and groove lumber we got is gorgeous, and went in beautifully. They have everything else you would need for a vintage house--beautiful moldings, railings, screen doors, etc. What really stunned me were their lovely mantels in a multitude of styles--if you have an ugly mantel, you need to hit McCoy stat! read more

This is my second time posting this after Yelp took it down saying I was not a customer. Hereby let it be known Yelp HQ that I am a paying customer of McCoy, and I was dismayed and heartbroken at my latest visit. This is in the wake of continuing and mounting gun violence resulting in mass murder of children and innocents (El Paso, etc.) I wondered why would a local family business openly support automatic assault riffles? I go there for lumber not ammo for the AR-15 killing machine... but their front desk proudly wear "Oregunian" apparel emboldened with this intimidating assault riffle. Look, I completely understand people have a right to their opinions and belief systems, but this seems tone deaf at the moment and probably not really the domain of a millwork business in downtown Portland. Maybe this is just a few employees, but shouldn't you, the owners, be aware of what they, if not you, are promoting in your business? Please sell lumber. NOTE: Yelp, and McCoy if you sent an email to Yelp questioning my review, please do not force the removal of this legitimate review of my experience at McCoy claiming I was not a customer: I have receipts. It would be concerning if McCoy might be trying to silence critical reviews -- look at Baue B's review on May 24, 2019... it is critical and they didn't even buy anything, yet I actually bought stuff. read more

Regular McCoy Millwork customer. Front desk staff is very friendly and will greet by name after just a few visits. Derrick in the back is the picture of efficiency. Keeps the whole operation running smoothly. Excellent company all around. read more

Just stopped in for some advice on trimming my garage. Zach was incredibly helpful and understood my project immediately despite my poor explanation of it! Really felt valued as a customer & look forward to coming back when I have a more expensive, higher-profile project. read more

I don't understand the poor reviews I've read here. I recently visited McCoy Millwork and found their customer service exceptional. They were very helpful and attentive as we shopped for a mantle and later ordered trim pieces for the house. There was a delivery problem with the mantle and Caitlin did a great job doing everything possible to address the issue. Things like that happen. What's important is how they treated us when there was a problem and we are very satisfied with what they did. Oh, and the mantle is outstanding. The craftsmanship and wood is beautiful! read more

I just want give a big thanks to the folks at McCoy. I really need some baseboard and headed over after work. I got stuck in traffic and could not get there in time before they closed. They were willing to stay late for me. It was a huge help to me to keep my project moving on time. Thanks guys. Richard read more

Beware women - if you don't like to be man-splained, I would recommend going elsewhere. While their products are beautiful, my recent experience there was very frustrating. The older gentleman who helped us made a patronizing comment when I started giving him too much information at once. I let my husband take over the conversation because I was annoyed. Later, when the employee gave us some contractor names, he seemed surprised that I had already talked to them and had specific feedback about one of them. This business needs to realize that it's usually the women in the home whom makes a lot of the remodeling decisions. read more

I've done a few purchases of molding materials from Mccoy both before the Covid restrictions and after, each time the sales persons I worked with were friendly and accommodating for a non-contractor like myself. I needed the items shipped to Vancouver, WA and they were able to get them over here no problem in timely manner, even helped me load the materials into my garage. They're a bit pricier than your big box store, but the materials are so much nicer and the shipping was really pretty reasonable. Even took off shipping during the height of the Covid pandemic, which was really nice. Thanks for making it easy, would definitely purchase from again! read more

This place is great, it can get pricy, but that's what you get for wanting nice things. The staff and place is not pretentious as others have stated. McCoys is geared for professionals it seems, but I've heard the staff help many, many uniformed customers over the years. They help customers find solutions or match profiles with a professionalism that is rare to find. read more

I had a very positive experience. I don't think I bought more than $10 worth of stuff, but it's a beautiful store, and I received a lot of great help. read more

McCoy Millwork has a vast array of moulding and stairway products. They are my number one source for residential trim in Portland.

Helpful, helpful, helpful! I'm not experienced enough to tell you if the pricing is competitive, but they sure are nice. Did I mention how helpful they are? read more

As a stair builder I need a location to send my clients to see samples of stair parts and systems. McCoy's has a huge showroom for stair parts and moldings. If you need ideas on what to do with your stairs this is the place to visit. They can also recommend carpenters and contractors for you projects or help the DIY'ers. Their service is above standards and if they don't have it they can point you in the right direction. It is worth the trip. read more

After reading other reviews I am happy to see it isn't just me who thought the sales guy with the round glasses was a jerk. Not helpful whatsoever. I admitted to him I knew nothing about buying a fireplace mantel for my gas fireplace and he acted like I was annoying him and wasting his time. If you don't want to answer questions and help people make a purchase than why are you in the sales field. They are not worth spending my money there. Plus, their mantel selection was lame. Not impressed round eyeglass guy! read more

I was here today and what a Jerk at the counter! I brought in my wood & measurements that I needed and the guy was a complete idiot. I have been a carpenter for years and I just dread having to go in here. How do these guys stay in business? What has happened to their customer service? If your a women go somewhere else, the guy at the counter messed up my order 3x, My project is finally done and I will go elsewhere next time to get my molding. read more

Good luck finding information on their pricing. No one at the front desk can answer questions, nor knows how to switch your call to their expert. When you do find a voice mail, it does not identify who you're leaving a message for. Please someone coach this company on customer relations on the phone. read more

Customer service was horrible. We were looking for ideas for our fireplace mantel and the big guy with little circular black glasses insulted my wife when she asked "what types of modern or contemporary ledges do you have?". He responded by saying "you need to have a better idea about what your looking for before you come in here!" Also - for specializing in mantels and other wood materials, they had a pretty poor selection (only 6 different mantels to choose from). Go somewhere with nicer staff and better selection. read more

Horrible customer service. I saw at least 4 employees and none of them bothered to say "Hi" or ask if I needed assistance. To be fair, there were at least 2 other customers...I guess they both had a huge order. 5 minutes later, the store was empty except for one employee eating at his desk and one at the counter. When I walked up and said "Hi", the gentleman only looked up with annoyance. What a disappointment after reading some great reviews. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Wow! Such friendly and great service! I felt like the folks at the counter really knew their product and helped me figure out just what I need for my project! read more

Preface this review by saying I've been a woodworker since I was a wee lad, built custom furniture, and have done the majority of remodeling to our 1920's bungalow myself including major kitchen and bath projects. So over the years, I've shopped many times at McCoy Millwork as they have a great selection of period moldings in a wide array of species, often in stock, that are hard to find elsewhere. In previous years the customer service was great, but in my last two trips there in the last couple months, I literally have felt I had to beg them to take my money. One of the guys was nice enough and helpful but seemed exhausted about answering simple questions about what was in stock and what was a custom order. As someone else mentioned, the other fellow with the round glasses, seemed like he was trying to put on a 'Ron Swanson' affect but really came off like an arrogant misanthrope that thinks if you aren't trade, you don't belong there. Anyway, I took my business down the road to Woodcrafters who were extremely friendly, helpful and who I will be going to from here on out. read more

Went into McCoy having no knowledge of the industry but wanted to get ideas as we are remodeling our home. I was greeted by friendly staff that were well educated on the product and were willing to hold my hand and walk me through everything. Having been a carpenter since the early '80s I have shopped in just about all the lumberyards around and McCoy Millwork is my favorite, hands down. The salespeople have always been friendly, attentive, refreshingly knowledgeable and will find the hard to get specialty items. They have always understood what is I am looking for. And I have always felt welcomed when I'm at the counter. The warehouse people are really good too. They will pick out the right materials if you need something specific. And the prices and quality are better than the big box stores! And... they have the best lumberyard coffee in town... read more
