I was trying to help out what seemed like smaller businesses by deciding to go with Eagle Box. I got their flier in the mail and called them up. I ordered a few sets of flat cardboard pieces and everything seemed to be going great, until I placed the order. I tell him that we're a small gallery and that we have a headquarters in Alabama so to please have the invoice be payable to them. Seems to be no problem.
I went back & forth with some emails and they would lag here & there, saying sorry this and that. They were going to send me a resale form, but I didn't hear back. This is definitely the type of place where YOU (the customer) have to wave your hand at them saying "Hello?? Did you forget about me?" So there's no organization, no attention to detail.
The guy totally forgot to send me a resale and said that my boxes were going to be shipped on Monday/Tuesday. Then on Tuesday afternoon I contact him, and he says oops it'll be there tomorrow EARLY morning. By Wednesday at 3pm, I don't hear anything. A little after 3pm, we get about 3-4 phone calls in a row because the delivery guy is lost. They had written the wrong address and the guy was out somewhere, wandering around Manhattan lost. I get it that NY is confusing (actually not THAT confusing since we're like a grid) but please have your delivery people be aware of east and west please!
After explaining in more detail where we are, and sending my intern out to go find this lost guy, he finally finds his way in. He hands me an invoice that says "Cash $150". Uhh... I'm supposed to pay cash? What? How is this not brought up when we already discussed payment? He kind of has no clue what was going on, but he was under the impression that I was supposed to give him payment now.
So I give the office a call and after a few minutes of being on hold, they say YES I have to pay either cash or by check. I would have never agreed to pay cash or check and would have worked this out some other way if I knew they were COD. I don't have authority to make any decision since my headquarters (with the accounting dept) is in Alabama, so I have the delivery guy wait while I try to contact all three of my bosses to ask them what we should do. What a freaking headache!
I can't believe I had such a twisted and complicated order with one company for over a week. They really need to shape up because I sure as heck am NOT going to use them again. I wrote to the main guy explaining how unsatisfied I was and what went down. He still hasn't replied. What are they doing back there? Juggling balls? Sleeping? read more
