The planning process took a bit longer than what we initially planned for. The county of LA took their sweet time approving our plans. Fortunately, after 2 sets of revisions we were fully approved. The construction wasn't bad at all, they had plenty of guys working on our home at the same time. The only time there was no work, was on inspection days. The finishes was one thing that was extremely important for us. My wife and I are detail oriented and wanted to make sure we're choosing the right company to do the finish work correctly. We interviewed multiple…read morecompanies and went with GHB since they seemed the most design-forward and client-friendly of the bunch, and gave us a reasonable quote too. I had a rough vision in mind for fitting a lot into a relatively small space, but wanted to see the options rendered so I could better make the big layout and design decisions. Alexis was very patient and super helpful in mocking up each iteration until we locked in the final design. Once it was time to actually break ground, Gil, Oren, Uriel, and the rest of the team were really responsive and always available by text. Unlike previous contractors we've worked with, they usually gave us an idea of what was happening the next day/week and who to expect onsite. The first ~70% of the project went really smoothly and far exceeded my expectations. Demo, framing, rough plumbing, and electrical all largely went without a hitch. We ran into some problems towards the end around communication, timeline, and subcontractor oversight -- which led to more delays when someone punctured our new in-wall toilet tank and flooded both the bathroom and bedroom. We know every construction job runs into challenges so we weren't bent out of shape by it, and we did appreciate that GHB took full responsibility for fixing the issues. By and large we were really impressed by most of their subcontractors, especially the very professional and considerate plumbing, electrical, and tiling teams! After living with our new bathroom for a while now, we can definitely say it was worth the wait, and such a huge improvement over our previous dysfunctional layout. Thanks to GHB for their great service, amazing attitude, attention to detail, and for bringing the bright, colorful bathroom of my dreams to life!

The wood deck in my backyard needed some major repairs due to poor, faulty construction and water…read moredamage. The cost to patch it up didn't make sense financially, so I decided to get quotes to build an entirely new one. Got the usual four estimates from various construction companies. A couple of them went way over than what I had budgeted for, and the remaining two were neck-and-neck. I went with Coronado because their common-sense approach and presentation gave me a lot of confidence in working with them. Sergio, who drafted the estimate, actually presented a much better option than a wooden deck: a concrete patio. That made a lot more sense to me as I wouldn't have to worry too much about maintenance. He also worked up some renderings of what the finished product would look like, and that pretty much sold it for me (along with the very reasonable estimate). The whole project took a few weeks, from the demo of the old deck to the concrete pouring, and all throughout, Sergio made himself available to any questions or concerns that I had. Additionally, his business is family-run, so I got to meet his father, his brother, and some of his other relatives who came down to work on the project. They were all courteous, professional, and competent. There were some minor fixes (some being electrical) that adjusted the original estimate a bit, but those made sense to me and were quite reasonable as well. Before Mike, I had met with 3 other contractors to compare services and quotes but what sealed the deal for me was the 3D render service Mike offered. It was affordable and it would be free if you end up going with MDM for your remodel. Mike was able to get the renderings to me very quickly and made adjustments whenever we wanted to change something. Seeing the details of the renderings really brought what we were envisioning to life and helped with the design process. Fast forward to beginning of demo/construction, Mike's employees were impressively fast and efficient at their jobs, but what really impressed me was how clean they kept our property after each day of work. And that stated true throughout the entire process of our 7 month renovation. During construction, if there were any last minute changes, Mike would always try to cater to our needs whenever possible. Even if subcontractors made mistakes with anything, Mike would make sure it is fixed and perfect right away. Keep in mind, you can't rely on Mike for everything (as much as you might want to). Jose is like his right hand man and gets the job done. Not only getting the job done but does it very well. From his showroom, we were able to pick out all the designs that we wanted and seeing the end result, I was truly impressed. His prices are fair and he's upfront about everything. Amin will answer any questions you have throughout the entire process. Even if you text him at 9pm he will respond quick. If he says something will be done by a certain time frame, he will ensure that it is done. I really wanted LED mirrors at the end and he wasn't able to do it. We were even willing to pay extra for it! We ended up having to get plain, boring mirrors with no LED which was pretty disappointing. Also, one of the biggest issue I had was I wanted all the outlets changed since the previous ones were yellow and old but he said it'll be an additional charge. White walls and yellow outlets? EWWW!!
