Last week my family went to Dynasty Chinese restaurant for lunch. We enjoyed The Fortune Cookie restaurant when it was open in this location, so we were looking forward to having a new Chinese restaurant nearby. We weren't disappointed. Our favorites of honey walnut shrimp, orange peel beef and sautéed string beans were as good as we remembered. We also tried chicken with cashew nuts, which was very good, and broccoli beef, which was fairly tasteless. We would not order the broccoli beef again. We also ordered vegetable fried rice which was short on vegetables and egg but had good flavor. Overall, service was attentive, the portions were generous and the vegetables in our dishes were very fresh. We do wish that the honey walnut shrimp was served with orange slices (like its predecessor restaurant). We will definitely be frequenting Dynasty. read more

Really enjoyed this place. It's fresh Chinese food, not overly seasoned and all their dishes tasted great. The dumplings were just ok (I don't think dumplings are their strong suit), but the black bean fish stir fry dish, beef chow fun, and tofu dish was amazing. Food quality changes from the first time I tried this restaurant up to the fourth time.... Maybe because I ordered food to go this time... Crab meat with fish maw soup ( tried 4 times) is watery instead of thick soup this time:(. Food tried I can't recommend: Seafood lo mein, shrimp with lobster sauce, chicken corn soup. Food recommendation; House special fried vermicelli, Crab meat with fish maw soup ( if cooked properly) , minced beef and egg white soup, Roasted duck, braised tofu with 3 delights , salted pork loin, shrimp with egg white and milk. Very very disappointed. Was initially excited to try this new place and had some great food when dining in. Ordered some takeout today and had terrible service and food. Did not receive my full order, was missing soup and egg roll from lunch special and the portion was significantly smaller than when received dining in. Also ordered spicy wontons (which I had also previously ordered for dine in) and received some cold, dry dumplings that I did not order. When I called back at 1pm there was no manager on site and I was told I would receive a call back but never did. Very disappointed with the food and service especially since it has only been opened for a month. Will not be returning here again. read more

Wow! The food and service at Dynasty was excellent. I want to thank all of the workers there personally. They went beyond my expectations. We had a party of 40+ people and they took great care of each and every one of us. We even had a nice time with the Karaoke. I will definitely be going back soon. We came there as a group of 7 people and excited to try this new restaurant. However, the foods and services did not meet our expectation. Baked mussels came out cold, and we had to left half of the dish. We ordered one pecking duck cooked in 2 styles and it is mediocre. The second style was basically cooked duck meat with some green onion and sprout. The filet mignon is too salty for our taste. However, the things that disappointed me the most were spicy wonton and dumplings. Wonton did not taste spicy at all (it made me wonder if the chef forgot to put the chilly oil in). The wrap of the dumpling was too thick and I rather eat the dumplings from Costco. The only food that I enjoyed there was honey walnut shrimp For the service, I did not like it either. The young staff that served our table did not even bother to smile at all :( Overall we spent 300 for a group of 7 people, but we did not feel it is worth it. I will not come back for sure read more

Tried it with my hubby. His sweet n sour chicken was yummy.. freshly made. The noodles was plain..No flavor.. should have ordered the rice. I had gung pao beef. When it came I tried a piece and beef was Luke warm but vegetables were freshly stir fried. The lady on next table sent her stirfry back cuz meat was cold too! I sent mines back and got beef stirfry hot but didn't have the correct sauce which over sauced. Guess I ordered the wrong thing! We'll probably come back to try something else cuz ss was yummy. We went there last Friday around 6 pm. When we went in there was another couple in front of us. The hostess told both of us that there would be a 15 min wait. I looked into the dining area: there were at least 4 empty tables. While we are waiting, more people came in and the line got longer. After 20 min or so, we were seated at one of the tables that was empty all that time. By then, the waiting area became pretty crowded, but at the same time there were 6 empty tables (I counted). We ordered 3 items. The wait for food was long. Here are my reviews: Garlic pea shoots: The stems were "old" and a little tough but otherwise quite tasty. Shrimps with egg white: The shrimps were overcooked and not much taste to them. Egg white was dense and not fluffy at all. The whole dish was very oily. Half roasted duck: The duck was obviously reheated and hence very dry. They tried to compensate by pouring a lot of sauce over the duck. The meat was chewy and salty. The only positive thing about the whole dining existence was the spacious dining area; it has a comfy and relaxing feel to it. Will we go there again? NO read more

They forgot to bring the pork dumplings :( and it was going to take another 30 minutes to bring so I just let it go, since we were there for a while. But I would definitely give it another chance. I'm upset I was sent a menu with prices $11.99 for hot and sour soup. I went in to order to go. She tells me it will be $15. I told her the menu said $11.99 she said the prices changed. I politely asked her to get permission from the manager to honor the price that I was given on the mailer menu I received that same day. She came back and said he refused. This restaurant used to be good and has been under new owners for a few months now. I went there yesterday with my wife. The interior appears to be modern and clean. The service was attentive and good. We were seated right away. I took the number of Chinese customers there to be a good sign. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken and my wife ordered the kung pao chicken. Normally, I'm the one to order the kung pao as it has been my favorite dish for many years. The egg and corn soup was good. The sweet and sour chicken however was bland and lacking in flavor. I didn't like it. I tasted my wife's kung pao chicken and it had an odd flavor. I didn't like it and she didn't like it either. Simply stated the food just didn't taste good. We will probably try it again in a few months. Maybe they just need more time to get the quality of food up to par. If we don't like it then we will not go back or recommend it. I wish I could find a place like the Ocean Pearl on Colorado Blvd. in Pasadena. Unfortunately, they closed many years ago. We have had take-out several times at Dynasty and really like the food. After 2 other long time chinese restaurants closing in Orange over the last several years, it is great to have a good place again. However, tonight we decided to actually eat in the restaurant for the first time. What a mistake. Service was horrid. The kitchen staff is unable to keep up with take-out orders and a busy restaurant. After we waited more than 15 minutes to place an order, we waited more than another 45 minutes for the food, which at first was ok, but when even at the one hour mark plates were coming out 1 at time over 20 minutes, that was the breaking point. We never got our final dish we ordered and just had them cancel it since we had to go. When charging our card, they ran against the wrong check and had to redo. We also noticed certain clientele getting immediate service and had food within minutes of ordering. You decide what that means. Even though the food is good, we will never dine there again. read more

Dynasty replaced Fortune Cookie which our family loved. There is no comparison here. From the start, it was obvious our waiter didn't know the menu or really cared about satisfying his patrons. My husband asked for Thai Tea and the waiter said, they didn't have it. So, he asked for iced tea and they didn't have that either. I asked what "Ong Choi with Belacan" was and he shrugged and said "a vegetable?" My friend and I wanted to get "sauteed assorted vegetables" with added tofu but the waiter said the chef wouldn't make it together but said he'd ask anyway. He came back saying yes which prompted me to ask what the assorted veggies were. He said bok choy. That's it, no other vegetables? The menu said ASSORTED! Nope...(It's just a plate of bok choy for $12.99!) I asked, "Since when is bok choy an assorted vegetable?" No reply, while looking at me like I was crazy. We all know Chinese restaurants have more than just bok choy, right? But no, the chef won't make changes off the menu. What?!!!! Honestly, I wished we had just gotten up and left the place. It didn't get any better! I ended up choosing the Thai Style Seafood Chow Fun. You compare the photos and tell me how good my food looked? It was a HUGE bowl of salty dry, sticky noodles and hardly anything else! And what was Thai Style about it? A hint of spice? My husband got the "Sauteed shrimp in chili sauce." So, let me ask you this...would you think shrimp labeled "sauteed" would be deep fried? His dish was very salty as well. None of the dishes had descriptions AND there were supposed to be veggie icons for the vegetarian dishes. There weren't any even under the veggie category...See pic. So, did the waiter ask how our food was tasting? Not a word! My husband said he'd eat my leftovers the next day since I didn't eat it. Plus, I wasn't hungry enough or interested in ordering something else. At least we enjoyed an appetizer of soup dumplings...one small miracle. So finally, they brought out each of our 4 meals separately, 5 minutes apart and forgot the 4th entirely. After more than 30 minutes of ordering and after we were almost done eating, the fish fillet with sweet and sour sauce finally showed up. Fortunately, my friend liked it. This is the GREATEST Chinese food I have ever had! I am so happy that we found this restaurant! We didn't eat Chinese food that often but now we eat more often because the food of this restaurant is so good. We tried Basil fish fillet in black sauce, mussels, roasted duck, juicy pork dumplings, roasted pork belly, Kung Pao shrimp, sauteed clams with basil, orange beef, eggplant, baby bokchoi with mushroom, house special fried vermicelli, yeung chow, shrimp fried rice. All the food we tried was tasty! The portion was VERY generous. And the food is not salty, which we like. We ordered takeout multiple times, and they carefully packaged the food in sturdy containers and extra plastic bags for saucy food (no leakage of food and smell). Hard no. I had high hopes for this restaurant and was embarrassed that I kept asking to go. Tonight we ordered hot & sour soup, honey walnut shrimp, a noodle dish and the spicy minced pork with rice & egg. Soup was amazing! The noodle dish came out and it was awful. It had no flavor. I MEAN NONE. Since the menu has no description I was not aware of the bean sprouts, which I hate and the dish was FULL of so hardly any noodles. Maybe a good thing. The shrimp dish came out and was very good. Our last entree came out and I knew it was a disaster. It looked like grey slimy oatmeal with scorched over hard fried egg on top. Again NO FLAVOR. If it weren't for the jalapeños it would taste like nothing. I take that back I could taste the cornstarch or whichever ingredient used to thicken it. Let's move on to the waitstaff. No hellos, no pleasantries, kiss me fanny... nothing. Waiter with his terrible whip and shoes 3 sizes too big dragging his feet back and forth past our table. We dined at the newly opened Dynasty restaurant last evening, and it was fabulous.The entire staff was wonderful. We started with the chicken pot stickers which were delicious. Our main dishes were the Sautéed Filet Mignon with mushrooms and pepper sauce - it was fantastic. The Honey Walnut Shrimp was very tasty with large shrimp. The Kung Pao chicken was also wonderful, with just the right amount of "heat". Jeremy, the general manager was a charming host, joking with us that his Tesla had auto drive should we need help getting home after two bottles of wine. For the record that has NEVER been a problem. There's a new Chinese restaurant called Dynasty next door to Smart 'n Final on Katella x Tustin. It's OMG delicious! We had Juicy Pork Buns, Pork Wontons in Spicy Sauce (well, actually in a chef special sauce with chili oil on the side), Honey BBQ Pork (eye rollingly good) and - wait for it! - Peking Duck. Amazing! Since then, we've gone twice and the Honey Garlic Pork Chops and Beef Chow Fun. Again, the pork was yummy and the Chow Fun was as expected. Can't wait to try the Filet Mignon dish. The people at the next table had it, and all we heard was licking and mmmmoaning. LOL! The Executive Chef is Chef Chen, formerly of the Four Seasons in LA. An excellent provenance. The ambience is upscale casual with relaxing contemporary background music that doesn't prevent conversation. Yay! After 4 Chinese restaurants in the area closed in the last couple of months, Chinese is back in Orange and better than ever! Their Grand Opening was Friday March 24th. We went for the Soft Opening the weekend before, for lunch one day during the week and on their Grand Opening, as we've missed our chinese food. Their menu is extensive - something for everyone! They're prices are VERY reasonable and portion sizes are enough to have left-overs. A must-go place for locals. read more
