I am so so so happy to have such a great computer (and phone) repair shop located in my neighborhood. These guys are the best. They are professional and courteous, fast and inexpensive. They are happy to provide estimates for free (and quickly, drop-ins accepted). I have had two experiences with Dynamic Computers (I'm not great with laptops...clumsy): 1. Went in because the "a" key on my computer was loose. The owner took a look and told me that I should make it work as is because replacing it would be expensive (it isn't one key - all the keys are on one mat). 2. Went in YESTERDAY with a broken hard drive (whirring and making a horrible noise) and the owner told me (after listening to the drive) that it was irreparably broken. He recommended I replace the drive and told me he would do what he could to salvage the contents on my computer. Plus he helped me with Office. Picked it up TODAY - all fixed, new hard drive. He charged me exactly what he quoted me. AND SERIOUSLY HE"S SO FAST! I highly recommend this business and plan to send all my friends and neighbors there. read more

THESE GUYS ARE AMAZING. My laptop screen/back bezel got bent back and the screen spider webbed. After calling around to different high end computer repair stores and corporate stores throughout the area, I was told a number of different stories including that I would need to have it shipped out (4 week process), a replacement couldn't be ordered, it wold cost more then the laptop etc. THIS IS A WORK LAPTOP. NOW WHAT?!?! Dynamic Computers was 10 min from my house. Grabbed a screen from a shelf and installed it in 10 minutes. I don't know... 4 weeks or 10 minutes? Such a tough call. Amazing experience - old laptop got blue screen of death. Don't trust Geek Squad and have had others charge $200+ without any guarantee of data recovery. Diagnosed quickly as motherboard issue - not worth $300 - so backed up files to external drive (didn't mark up at all). Also experienced how helpful he was to several others in my time waiting there. Gagan Singh is one of the most honest and knowledgeable persons. Especially in a business where people take advantage of you like crazy. He has been providing our small business and home with IT and hardware support for for nearly 10-15 years (even before he had his own shop) and it is a pleasure to give him 5 stars in all aspects. These guys are great! Singh is a delight to work with, and he and his team got me back together after a liquid spill in 4 days(Sat & Sun included). I spilled a pint directly in my keyboard. He told me not to worry and he would only replace of fix what was wrong. I had brought my computer to a store in Cambridge and they wanted $1400 to rebuild and retrieve my HD(which they said was compromised). Dynamic Computers had to replace my logic board and my keyboard. My HD was just fine. They price was unbelievably reasonable. My desktop PC needed an overhaul, with the OS thought to be corrupted, and running slowly overall, and my single HD nearly full. Singh (the owner) and Chris on of the employees were extraordinarily helpful. SIngh recommended precisely what I was hoping he would recommend - installing a 2nd HD, reinstalling the OS on that HD, and upgrading my RAM, givign my PC a much-needed cleaning inside and out, and then porting over all of my apps to that HD. Singh and Dynamic Computers not only did this flawlessly, so far as I can see, but they did it very quickly (overnight) - and Singh even went to far as to update me by phone - at 7 pm the same evening. I am not sure if Singh knew just how vital my PC is to me, but he surely acted as if he knew just how important it was that I get this back very quickly and in better condition than ever. After reading all the wonderful reviews, I decided to bring my computer here because I could not get it up and running. The place is stacked high with laptops and computers of all kinds, so I figured I was in the right place to get my desktop fixed. The person who ran the place was on the phone when I walked in and never got off to greet me. He told others around him to write the ticket and never really said anything to me. A few days later, he called to tell me that the hard drive was physically broken and they couldn't get power to it when trying to fix it. He said I needed to go to a special lab to have it fixed. Again, when I picked it up, he was again on the phone and never said anything to me. The guy who spoke to me had no idea what my computer was in for and had to interrupt the other guy on the phone, who pointed at my computer. On the phone, he had said that there were labs in Boston who could fix it and when I asked about this while in the store, he tossed some pamphlets at me. I was not happy with their lack of customer service. A coworker referred me to someone and he, not only got my computer working, but was friendly to deal with and explained everything to me. He also told me that the people who looked at my computer previously, didn't reconnect the hard drive and when he opened the case, it was just hanging there. He said if it had been jostled between me picking it up and bringing it to him, the data would have been irretrievable. Maybe they do a good job when they can fix the computer, but don't expect a greeting or a smile or much explanation and if they can't fix it, be prepared to be treated as a nuisance. If I could give less than one star, I would. read more

I bought an external hard drive from here a few years back, which is still working great. & this week, I had some weird power issues with my CPU, which I think was due to some power surge issue with one of my outlets (which also destroyed my power strip). The initial diagnostic was quick and he didn't charge me as he didn't find a problem, though he said the fan might be a little messed up & gave me advice to reset it and try again. When I brought it home, I still didn't get power, so I came back and he confirmed my cord was burnt out. I bought a new cord for 10$ and problem is solved. The main reason I give 5 stars is because he was so helpful answering all my questions (both in person and on the phone) and tried out my PC twice, even though he appeared to be quite busy with a lot of computer repairs in progress. read more

I called Dynamic Computer mid-morning about a friend's computer that had become infected with viruses the previous day. My Singh, the owner, said to bring it right in and he would have a look and provide a time and cost estimate. True to his word, I received the computer back by 4:00 the SAME DAY, with all viruses removed, the hard drive defragged and new anti-virus software installed - all for the very reasonable estimated cost I was quoted. The computer has worked flawlessly since - faster than it has been in years. I had my computer worked on a couple of times and I agree with the other reviewers, Gagan Singh , the owner is very honest and actually knows what he is doing which should be obvious but I 1st took my computer to Geek Squad at BestBuy and I would NOT recommend them!!! They overcharged me and the computer got reinfected about 3 weeks after I got it back. So I brought it to Gagan and he fixed my computer great and charged me about 1/2 the money. This place is great! They kindly and efficiently saved some files from my work laptop after someone spilled a liquid on the keyboard. He was even nice enough to communicate with the tech support for the special medical program on the computer to save all the necessary related files as well so there will be no trouble using them later. I called this store up wondering if they could unzip a file for me so I could download something onto my TV to save it. (It was not working and was going to cost a few thousand for a similar replacement) I showed up and the owner unzipped the files and took care of everything. I tried to pay him but he said it was no problem. I thanked him and low and behold the flash drive worked and it saved my TV. My GF laptop went dead on the last day of overseas trip. I called Dynamic Computers on Memorial Day and Gagan answered the phone, to my big surprise. He gave me a couple of advices about things to check, explained a few options for repair (regarding both - time and money) and suggested to bring the laptop tomorrow at 9am. And that's what I did. After a quick look, Gagan promised to call me that day. He actually called me just one hour later explaining the problem and giving a quote for repair. Fortunately, the problem was smaller than we expected (just burned memory and not a video card). I don't have much to add other than my 5 stars. I brought in a PC infected with malware. Singh cleaned it up and installed virus and malware protection. He said it might get reinfected the first time I used certain programs, but to bring it back in if it did. It did become reinfected as he predicted, I brought it back and he cleaned it up for good. It's been a year with no problems whatsoever. The computer runs faster too. He also put malware protection on my laptop for no extra charge. The price seemed reasonable. read more

I came in this morning with a computer that would not boot. Singh quickly diagnosed the issue as a problem with my SSD. He even removed the hard drive and connected it to a CPU to see if he could easily extract my data files. Although that was unsuccessful, I am very happy and pleased with Singh's professionalism, knowledge, and kindness. There were 3 or so other customers that came and went as I waited, and everyone was seen in a timely manner and seemed pleased with Singh's work as well. I came in here because of my own mistake and inexperience--I built a computer and was slightly off with one of the parts. Singh was professional, courteous, and not judgmental of my inexperience. This last part is probably everyone's biggest fear when going to a computer store, whose reputations are exceeded only by record stores when it comes to making customers feel like idiots. He gave me good advice, sold me the part I needed at a fair price, and was just as reasonable with his labor charge. He was equally courteous and helpful to the people the other people there, who were maybe a little more afraid of their computers than I was. My Dell laptop had a dreaded blue screen and would not boot up in any mode. I brought the computer to Dynamic Computers and they fixed it quickly for a very fair price. Call ahead to make sure that they are in, because the listed hours are not accurate. They were closed on Saturday, and closed at 6:00 pm. the day I dropped the unit off , not 7:00 pm. Holy cow! A friend who lives in West Medford suggested that I bring my mac pro lap top to Dynamic for repair. I dropped it off in the morning, and got a call that my battery had exploded. They estimated it would cost $225. It was done is two days (wicked fast), and it was $175. Great service and yes, it's totally fixed. These guys are great! I dropped my computer the other day and the screen stopped working. This was especially upsetting because I'm a student in the middle of writing my dissertation. I have a great laptop with a bad HDMI port. I suspected bad soldering since the port was intermittent for weeks before dying completely, so I brought it into Dynamic Computers to have it checked out. When I walked in to inquire about its status (over a week later), I was told it was ready, but I had never gotten a call back. I was told that they did not notice any HDMI problems (soldering looked fine), but they did format my computer without asking me and tried to charge me $45 for it. When I disputed the charge, it was dropped to $35 as a diagnostic fee, but lo and behold, the HDMI port still doesn't work, and I feel like I shouldn't have to pay for an inconclusive diagnostic. What's to stop these guys from charging $35 without even looking for the problem? read more

My wife and I had a first class excellent experience with Singh at Dynamic Computers. Our 3 year old desktop stopped working and it seemed like the data may have been lost but he was able to retreive it from an external drive and installed a new internal drive. I will repeat what everyone has said. This is an owner operated shop and Singh, apart from being a gracious wonderful kind truly nice person, also really knows his stuff. From talking to other repair places and the manufacturer, it seemed like it would take anywhere from a week to a month to get my computer repaired, and would cost a fortune.
