Deceptive Sales and Unaccountable Business Practices: I…read morepurchased a Holosun 407K-X2 based on the owner's explicit claim that it was a "direct fit" for a Springfield Hellcat OSP. As a professional, he should know this is incorrect; the product does not fit that slide without an adapter plate. When confronted with the error, he blamed Google for the misinformation and attempted to upsell additional hardware (an adapter plate) to fix his mistake. Refused Return and Insulted Integrity: The owner refused a return despite the sale being based on his false information. He claimed that because I had left the store, he could not verify if I had swapped the optic for a "fake." I am a licensed Registered Nurse; I have no reason to scam a shop for $300. Had he been honest, I might have eaten the cost, but because this shop chose to insult my integrity to cover their technical incompetence, I am pursuing a chargeback and Small Claims court on principle. Hidden Charges and Price Gouging: The financial discrepancies are blatant. The item was listed at $265.00. After taxes and fees, the itemized receipt showed a total of $287.13. However, my bank statement shows a final charge of $297.18. That is a $10.05 unauthorized discrepancy above the signed receipt. Inconsistent Business Identity: The business card identifies the owner as "Ernesto Gonzalez, Sick Ass Firearms LLC," while the receipt lists "Tactical and Practical." Between the mismatching business names, the incorrect technical advice, and the fraudulent math, this establishment is highly questionable. Buyer Beware: Check your bank statements. If you see charges that do not match your itemized bill, or if your integrity is questioned to cover for their errors, report them immediately. * California Attorney General: oag.ca.gov/contact/consumer-complaint | (800) 952-5225 * Fresno County DA (Consumer Protection): (559) 600-3141 P.S. To the owner: California Civil Code § 1770 (Consumer Legal Remedies Act) and Business & Professions Code § 17500 make it illegal to misrepresent the characteristics or "fit" of a product to induce a sale. Your "No Refund" policy does not apply when the sale was based on misinformation and technical errors. Attempting to enforce a "No Refund" policy under these circumstances is a further violation of state consumer protection laws.

I was in need of some magazines but didn't have them in the Fresno store so Jiro took the time to call 3 different Turners and is having them sent to Fresno. 559 Armory: Unprofessional, Predatory, and Utterly Disgraceful Business Practices…read moreI recently attempted to complete a firearm purchase at 559 Armory, only to be met with egregious overreach, blatant opportunism, and a complete disregard for customer rights and basic fairness. Due to a minor name discrepancy between my prior purchase record (under a nickname variant) and my current identification--fully documented and legally updated--the California DOJ indicated that the dealer retained discretion to proceed with the transfer. This is standard procedure in such cases, allowing responsible dealers to exercise reasonable judgment and facilitate lawful sales. 559 Armory chose instead to categorically refuse, citing internal policy preferences that appear rooted more in personal or political bias than in any legitimate compliance concern. Rather than honoring their role as a licensed firearms dealer committed to upholding Second Amendment rights, they elected to block the transaction entirely--despite the firearm never leaving their inventory and no actual restocking or handling being required. Compounding this refusal, they then imposed a staggering $300 restocking fee on the full refund of my prepaid purchase (including additional magazines I had legitimately acquired). This fee is patently excessive, punitive, and--based on California regulations limiting such charges in firearm transactions--potentially unlawful when no genuine restocking occurs. The result: I was denied my constitutionally protected right to acquire a means of self-defense, lost significant funds to an unjustified penalty, and received zero meaningful assistance or accommodation from staff who seemed more interested in retaining profit than serving customers. This is not the conduct of a reputable firearms retailer. It is the hallmark of a business that exploits regulatory gray areas for financial gain while cloaking itself in selective compliance. Their website touts "lowest fees and pricing" and "best customer experience," yet my experience reveals the opposite: predatory fees, arbitrary gatekeeping, and contempt for paying patrons. To prospective customers in the Central Valley and beyond: Avoid 559 Armory at all costs. Their practices are not merely inconvenient--they are unethical, anti-customer, and fundamentally at odds with the principles they purport to support. Seek out dealers who demonstrate genuine professionalism, transparency, and respect for the law and their clientele. One star is generous; zero would be more accurate if the platform permitted it.

I came in here because the athletic director from Hoover high school told me to come here. She said they were good and my kid would get their jacket by Christmas and snarked at the other business. I originally was gonna go to. Which is.Which is Jostens. A guy helped me with the order and I mentioned we were told to come here instead of Jostens and I said the price of the jacket there total $350 he laughed and said our jackets gonna be wayyyy more. As if it was funny. THE JACKET CAME OUT TO OVER $600! After all was said and done I gave in out of pure me being a mom. IYKYK. I am so disappointed that they are ripping off students and parents this way. $150 for embroidery? Jostens includes it! $175 for a varsity jacket to start. That's way better then $250 starting After I said I was a single mama doing it alone and my mother who just passed has the patches somewhere and it was a very emotional process for us. I was met with coldness and jokes like this guy was just happy screwing people out of money. The guy also bad mouthed the other company laughingly saying the guy stitches it himself and it's bad work. So rude and unprofessional. I will tell everyone I know not to go here! All the one star reviews are accurate. That other owner of Jostens is sweet and kind. That is valued over the experience I had here at first string sports. The only thing that worked out there is the manager gave me money back and wasn't rude. So do not go here go to Jostens. Don't listen to the schools they have some secret agreement with them most likely. I complained to fusd as well. I see why most students don't get a jacket it's highway robbery.

We were immediately greeted and helped. We were shown an array of selections and taken to try on the jacket. The counter had a breakdown of the patch prices and other upgrades. I paid $560 and I feel that that is a fair price for the quality of the jacket and the upgrades we selected. We will have a longer turn around and that was because we made a custom selection with the full knowledge that it would take an extra week. The only rude interactions I perceived in store, were parents coming in without understanding the prices and snapping at the teenagers' selections and the poor workers. I saw it with my own eyes. Shawn helped us and he was full of price transparency & knowledge. As we made selections, he'd point to the prices on the counter to show me the difference. He also made suggestions on colors and patches that we loved and went with. We all shared a few laughs and honestly, I feel like my daughter and I had so much fun designing her jacket. Beautiful memories. Thank you Shawn and First String Sports. I will always recommend your store.

This REI is spread across two floors, with a giant staircase in the middle of the sales floor. The top story is mostly clothes, while the lower floor has all the bikes and gear. Overall, Fresno REI seems a bit smaller than Folsom REI, but Fresno ends up having more inventory, because they are better at keeping their shelves stocked. It's hard to remember exactly which gear I've bought from exactly which REI, since I shop across at least four different locations. But, from this location specifically, if I remember correctly, I've bought some stickers, some bug spray, and a packable clothesline. This store really excels at cleanliness and merchandising. They keep it looking great, even though they are presumably a high volume store. On the other hand, this location isn't as great as some others at offering customer service on the sales floor. Last time I was here, I walked around the building a few times in hopes of getting the attention of a sales associate before finally just getting in line to ask my questions. One associate seemed to be ignoring me in favor of using his cell phone to text on the sales floor. He didn't seem to be on break-- he seemed to be on duty, but avoiding me. When the cashier asked if anyone had helped me, my "no" might have had some attitude. But, luckily, she was super helpful, and answered my questions. Overall, I love REI, and will probably continue to shop at this location when I'm in Fresno.
