I was looking at some bicycle racks for my new eBay and some accessories as well. They had a nice array of selections. I do wish they had more bike bags and lock choices but overall great to see and check out. I also really love the used section as you can get great deals For things such as shoes, roof, racks, snow, gear, and everything else in between that sports read more

Been here many times and I love it! Great selection of hiking items and accessories! Prices are higher of course but I love the quality including their own brand. Everyone that works here is so nice and helpful everytime. They're always super knowledgeable about everything including sleeping pads for backpacking and the gear they would recommend for any level of hiker. Will always come here for my hiking items and even just look around for fun. Overall, I would recommend coming here! read more

I've stopped by this REI location in Fresno multiple times now, and have had mostly great experiences. This REI is spread across two floors, with a giant staircase in the middle of the sales floor. The top story is mostly clothes, while the lower floor has all the bikes and gear. Overall, Fresno REI seems a bit smaller than Folsom REI, but Fresno ends up having more inventory, because they are better at keeping their shelves stocked. It's hard to remember exactly which gear I've bought from exactly which REI, since I shop across at least four different locations. But, from this location specifically, if I remember correctly, I've bought some stickers, some bug spray, and a packable clothesline. This store really excels at cleanliness and merchandising. They keep it looking great, even though they are presumably a high volume store. On the other hand, this location isn't as great as some others at offering customer service on the sales floor. Last time I was here, I walked around the building a few times in hopes of getting the attention of a sales associate before finally just getting in line to ask my questions. One associate seemed to be ignoring me in favor of using his cell phone to text on the sales floor. He didn't seem to be on break-- he seemed to be on duty, but avoiding me. When the cashier asked if anyone had helped me, my "no" might have had some attitude. But, luckily, she was super helpful, and answered my questions. Overall, I love REI, and will probably continue to shop at this location when I'm in Fresno. read more

I went there looking for a GPS and sandals, good selection of Teva. They are more set up for the hiker, backpacker. They have a good cross selection of items from clothing to bikes. They also offer some nice classes. Great to take for outdoor adventures. I was asked in the shoe section if I needed help, which I appreciate. read more

Walked in as a beginner looking for some snowboard/ski equipment with little knowledge on what to look for. David helped me out and was VERY knowledgeable of all the different gear options. Amazing experience! Will go to this location for all outdoor needs! read more

REI, Fresno: 2022 Jun 15 I've had my walking-hiking shoes for over two decades. Even though they're not very comfortable, I continue to wear them when I go hiking. After months of pain and deliberation - I finally gave in today - and bought a new pair of hiking shoes. We were attended by Victoria - one of the sales assistants at REI. Victoria was helpful, courteous and friendly. I may not have shopped there if it weren't for her. Thank you, Victoria - for being adorable - and for making my otherwise shopping ordeal a pleasant one. read more

Came in for a snowboard rental and was absolutely blown away by the level of customer service and detail that was shown. Im pretty new to the sport but all of my questions regarding stances and board types were answered without making me feel like I was bothering them at all. Shoutout Liam and Thomas yall are the best ! 10/10 would visit again :) read more

The staff is so friendly! Shout out to Danielle for being such an amazing person! Loved chatting with her at the register! There's a large selection of literally any outdoorsy activity you could think of here. I came here to look for a hydro pack and found a perfect fit for me in the exact color I wanted! I had also applied for a lifetime membership here! The value of it was pretty worth it to me since there was a promotion going on at the time for signing up for the membership! They offer many different types of equipment for a decent price and sometimes even have very good unbeatable sales! read more

Everyone that works here is AMAZING! But extra mega thank you to Marcus (REALLY hoping that was his name!), who helped me pick out a new pair of climbing shoes! He was awesome and super helpful, explained why the shoes i previously bought (not at an REI!) were not working, and suggested the most amazing COMFORTABLE and FUNCTIONAL climbing shoes! The climbing community is great because of people like Marcus! I didn't catch her name, but the woman who was working in the shoe section upstairs was amazing too! When they didn't have the size that my partner was looking for, she helped him by placing an expedited order for him and having them shipped to where we live since we're up in the mountains. YOURE ALL AMAZING THANK YOU SO MUCH ! read more

Sam and the women at the counter were incredible. I've never had a in store experience that was based on just giving just quality information, no shady sales tactics, and no buyers remorse. We were first timers going to yosemite and these guys gave us the best information. Without them we would have either died in the park or would have not even made it all together. I cant more recommend this store for not only equipment but quality advice. love my new shoes thanks Sam. read more

At first, I was a little ticked off about the lack of service and a lot of green vests standing around talking to each other. Brett in the in the ski rental department was fantastic! Great service, he could clearly read my body language that I was not very happy and took such great care of me,I became a member based on Bretts service. I can only hope my next experience as is as good. I am planning a backpack trip to Vietnam and Thailand in 2025 and will need 79 liter backpack. Congratulations Brett on your great service! read more

Great service. Selection is spotty when it comes to shoes, but what they do have are great options.

My ski rental experience is very trying here. Instead of a "yes sir" kind of attitude, its very much a "I don't know, you do the data entry" type deal. I know the people that work here are nice, but they are inept on anything other than ringing up clothes. read more

We stopped at this location today to pick up our new Garman mini in reach 2 from this REI location. After entering the store we were fortunate enough to be able to pick up our package quickly and work with Jackie to set up our new device. We have been spot users in the past but our spot device was acting flaky on our PCT hike so we decided to pick up a new Garman. Are used to work at an REI so I know there's always some kind of expert in the store that can handle the set up of these devices. Today we were super fortunate to work with a Jackie to get the new Garmin device completely set up. She was super helpful, patient and kind as we work through this process. Believe me it's not always easy to get these devices going and to get this much help from her was exceptional. Her friendly demeanor and fun attitude made it enjoyable and educational as she showed us many features of the new Garman that we will be using during the rest of our hikes this summer. By using our REI credit card we will actually be able to get 10% back plus an additional 5% on this purchase which is always a bonus! Not so much to review of the store but a review of its wonderful employee Jackie!! I'd like to say that REI is a good value but it is what it is some people call it really expensive inventory :-) read more

Was in the area for dinner and we decided to stop by the store to walk off our dinner and do some window shopping. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by a friendly staff member. Compared to the store in Tustin this store is smaller but also has a second floor which the Tustin store doesn't have and its cleaner, organized and more lit up then the Tustin store. Every department we walked through someone greeted us or asked if they could help. Great place for the outdoors person looking for new equipment, gear or clothing. Parking is available throughout the parking area. read more

I love this place and the staff here. They are always super knowledgeable and willing to assist you. We inquired about camping in Joshua Tree and they had mentioned renting a sleeping bag or pad from them if we weren't entirely sure which one to purchase outright. They also have classes each month geared to getting outdoors. Some are free and others you need to pay for. The garage sales are just OK. Sometimes you get a killer deal, but most of the time it's 40-50% items that are final price and non-returnable. read more

REI - Garage sale!!! - Sports Wear Near Me - Fresno, California

At the suggestion of REI Customer Service, I stopped in at this REI store, located in Fresno's River Park Shopping Center, to return an online purchase that I had made. As you approach the store, you immediately notice that this store is not messing around when it comes to the safety of its employees and customers due to COVID-19. This location is quite small as compared to my go-to locations in Santa Monica and Orange County, but it fits the bill for Fresno. I expected a larger location due to the proximity of Fresno to many outdoor activity areas. You can tell that the outdoor bug as bitten quite a few people in this area because there was a lot of emptiness on their shelves. Entry to the store is limited and a covered waiting area is provided outside for those waiting their turn for entry to the store. Social distancing is strictly enforced. This REI is a leader in providing clear distance markers. Employees are masked. Cashiers are protected behind plexiglass barriers, and sanitizer was available at the counter. Employees were very friendly and ready to help. Maryann provided the best customer service for my return item. read more

David was beyond AMAZING! We needed specific parts that we left behind for bikes heading from San Diego to Yosemite and he was so so helpful and kind. We called ahead of time and David helped us understand exactly which parts we were talking about. When we got to the store, he remembered us, came out to our car to see the exact bikes, brought the tires in, and even assembled them. He saved our trip to Yosemite. Thanks David! read more

Got my daughter's flat tire fixed for $26. Fast and easy service. I appreciated being able to go in and out.

Firstly, I love REI. But today two of their sales persons failed. Huge fail, 500 dollar fail. For the first time ever I experienced what I can only describe as used car sales tactics. Two on one, both pushing a produce without full disclosure or limitations. Anyone going there don't let yourself be lured in by their seemingly selfless service, not all of the sales reps are looking out for the customers best interests. read more

Best customer service ever! Was shopping for a new pack and one of the associates helped me get fitted with the perfect size and pack, and had me walk around the store with weights to make sure we had the perfect fit. So, we decided we're going to go camping. We looked online and found that REI had a few items we needed. Nice store. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice selection of camping and outdoor sports gear. Today I went to pick up my order at 5:50pm and the store posted hours were pickup is until 6pm. The store sign was already toggled to closed. I had selected the link in the email that I was "here to pick up ", but called because the sign said closed. The person Michael on the phone gave me ATTITUDE for calling and was extremely RUDE! Hey Michael, don't be lazy and mark your store closed when it is not! There are plenty of shops. You will see my return of the item I bought as I refuse to shop where business is appreciated. Word of advice, support the local bike shops in town- Rubber soul caddy corner across the street, The Buke Shop a mile down the road, Sunnyside and Stevens. read more

I have never experienced the attitude, rudeness and lack of customer service from a place. I will not be returning. Ski rental place was empty at the counter. I waited. I was in no rush, just figured someone was in the back busy. I received a call and answered it. Hung up and then asked if someone was in the back. No answer so I walked to the cashier section to see if they could call someone. A guy rudely said he was waiting for me to get off the phone. I said I'm sorry it was a work call before I realized how absurd it was that I was apologizing. I wasn't mad about waiting but yet he was offering explanation as if I was. I let him know I wasn't mad, I just needed some help. He immediately got defensive. Shocked I stopped walking and said you know what it's okay, I can go somewhere else. He made a mannerisms like whatever and walked away. I asked to speak to the manager and he said he wasn't present so he could say anything about the situation. Like what. All I wanted was some help and this guy was defensive and rude for no reason. And I could see him making mannerisms when I was talking to his manager. It was so shocking to witness that behavior and a manager say he wasn't a witness so that was that. After reading some reviews, it seems other have had similar issues. I don't know the reason but it's so disappointing. I was shaking and almost in tears because it felt so out of nowhere. And nobody gave two cents. Really sad about it and honestly hope nobody else's experiences it. read more

When I went to ask one of the cashiers a quick question before deciding whether to make a purchase (to see if they were able to look up my rewards amount since I had forgotten my coupon), I stood in front of one of the cashiers. There were no other customers around and the cashier was just looking at a paper. After a substantial pause, he glanced up and asked if I needed anything. Not friendly. No smile. Then he went back to looking at his paper. I asked my question and he answered. No smile. No looking up from his paper. Cold. At least the guy in the shoe department was very friendly. read more

A little disappointed with the store, I get it that we are opening to welcome back our people back into the stores. With that said you'd think to plan to have the appropriate staff to accommodate the service required to tend to your patrons. Stood there for a while as one staff member was tending to three customers, i perused the shoes and found one I thought I'd like to buy. I stood patiently as the poor girl didn't get any help. No other staff came, again I understand but I wasn't even acknowledged waiting. Finally I was fed up, as I started to head out is when someone finally came to her section asking if I'd been helped. I said "no" my girl tells him after I said no that we'd been waiting a while, that was the reason we were leaving. Membership sure has its perks doesn't it... read more

REI has a very good selection of outdoor gear. Prices are reasonable, especially during special sales events. The staff is always helpful. I have been shopping at REI for decades. Yes, now there are many online stores, but sometimes you just need to examine the items hands on. read more

Horrible online system, long waits and inefficient system. Would not recommend for rentals.

The first time i came into REI, i was wowed by the membership perks and customer service. My road bikes back tire was flat so i bought the membership, with a new tube etc. Upon arriving home, my front tire was completely flat. I had transported my bike via truck so there was no way it got flat in my trunk within 15 mins. Why my front tire wasn't aired up to check its entirety- not sure maybe it's just a common curtsey i've received at previous bike shops. Nonetheless i went back to REI to utilize the awesome membership they provide. Upon arriving there i was not greeted, only confronted by an older gentleman near the ski rental space to ask "what did i need". i explained i needed a tube with slime in it- that i had a membership. The older man went to tell the younger guy what i needed, the younger guy took my bike, without asking what i wanted, and went to work on it. No slime was added after it was fixed- so i then told him it was incorrect and he fixed it. Ten minutes later i heard a huge pop- assuming it was my tube that popped. When the guy brought me back my bike, he didn't seem so customer friendly. not even a "have a great day" or "sorry we popped your tube". Anyways, riding out of REI with slime residue all over my bike was a nice tip. Mom and Pop shops are definitely the way to go when it comes to bike service. I don't know if i'll use this paid membership anymore- regret it kind of being a lifetime thing. I rather stick to friendly, caring shops that go the extra mile to look out for you. read more

Drove 100 miles to this location since I don't have one in my city. I was pleasantly surprised at how well stocked and organized this store was. I purchased several items as upgrades to my ultralight backpacking arsenal. The prices are decent and comparable to other major retailers- plus your member dividends perk! The men's clothing section was decent, I wish they would stock more of the smaller person clothes (I'm 5'5", 130 lbs.) I was able to find everything I was looking for- including an item that the website said was in stock but couldn't find on the sales floor. A helpful employee checked the back stock and voila I had my item! Overall, I would recommend this store. read more

Guess who feels 100% more prepared to hit the hiking trails now?!! ‍ I cannot say enough about how great my experience was at this REI! I feel extremely lucky to have Anne be the associate who asked if I needed assistance. She was so unbelievably knowledgeable in every aspect, especially with being prepared and what essentials I should have while out on the trails. She spent time with me where I found a comfortable day pack, and showed me how to adjust all the straps to fit my body. I walked out with a day pack, water bladders. emergency kit, whistle, headlamp, and emergency blanket. I also became an REI member and have the list of classes they provide for hiking, etc. I went back today to use the $20 off coupon I got for becoming a member and bought a water bottle with a filter (again was a suggestion from Anne on my last visit). I know exactly where I'll be returning if I have any more questions in regards to the outdoors. In addition to Anne, different associates also asked if I needed assistance throughout my visits Everyone is so helpful and friendly! read more

The staff here is more attentive than all my family members have been in my lifetime combined. Perhaps a story for another time? I was backpacking for the first time and the shoe section employees walked me through what seemed like every single hiking shoe until I found my perfect Cinderella pair. They advised on blister prevention which I have to say--worked! The backpack section fitted me and filled me up with sandbags for practice. I had no idea there was a world like this out there.
