When I called to make the appointment, it…read moreseemed like they would be really busy on a Saturday so I assumed it would take a while for them to get to my bike, but they said the wait time would be about 15-20 minutes & they were true to their word. The tech who did my adjustment suggested I get a tune up & went through the details to explain why, but there was no pressure to have it done right there & then. On my way out, they offered me water (I probably looked like it was obvious that I'd ridden my bike to their shop in the August heat). When I went to leave, I mounted my bike outside the shop & realized the seat had been raised too high for me. I was not strong enough to pull out the adjuster to reset it myself, so I rolled it back inside & one of the employees happily reset it for me. He wasn't annoyed that it took 3-4 times to get it just right (i.e. back to the height I had it before). My parents & grandparents are/were loyal, long time Steven's Bicycles customers who were always satisfied with their products & work. It's nice to know their reputation has not changed, even with the new Clovis location.

They worked on it twice and even had their best tech handle it to make sure the setup was 100% dialed. Really appreciate a shop that actually stands behind their work and keeps going until it's perfect. Great service, I'll definitely keep coming back.

My experience here wasn't very good. The fact that they give you a old metal heater in each room is…read morewild especially since when I stayed it was 19 degrees out, a breeze from the threshold since they had a broken door and about two inches of clearance. They did switch us to another room but when I asked if their boiler was operating they said yes. I can assure you it was not. The room barely got above 30 degrees which led to a cold night and left us very bitter in the morning. Made it even harder to get up and actually go snowboarding. Along with lifts being closed down for no reason at the time, poor hotel conditions I would only say stay if you couldn't get a fair priced Airbnb in shaver area. Anything 30 mins drive is worth it compared to the outdated and broken down rooms. Can't really say anything bad about the staff since they were friendly but whomever owns this place should be ashamed. Had great potential yet they're just letting it go to waste.

Be extremely careful with fences installed by ski patrol out of nowhere. They sometimes make…read moremistakes and install fences that do not make any sense that weren't even there that very same day, on the very same line. You will be better off throwing yourself into the ground at high speed to be able to stop on time, and walk around it, or you risk of being threatened like a criminal to cancel your pass, and to only use an easy line. On Friday, January 9th, I used a nice black diamond line 3 times from 9-11:30 am, no fence whatsoever, everything perfectly safe. While trying to run it for a 4th time at around 12:45, I noticed a "safety fence" on exactly the exit of that line, on a place that wouldn't make any sense. I already committed to the line, and was going at a decent speed. I tried to be polite enough, not destroying the fence but rather going under it. The ski patrol was finishing the fence close to where I crossed it, so he proceeded to threaten me like a criminal to cancel my pass and felt with the authority to order me to use Academy only. Weird thing, I tried to run the line again at like 2:30 pm, but planned to use a slightly different exit to avoid that fence, and for some "strange" reason, the fence I crossed and that I was threatened for, wasn't even there anymore. That tells me that someone made a mistake and just put a fence on a place that didn't make any sense whatsoever, and that would have actually made the run more dangerous instead of safer. Not even try to e-mail China Peak, they won't own their mistake, and essentially they will threaten you again over email to cancel you pass. This is not the friendly resort that it used to be anymore, take your business to Dodge Ridge, Bear Valley, or Mountain High, they still have the vibe.

The food was absolutely fabulous, but what truly made the evening special was our waitress, Anne. Anne has a cheerful, professional personality that immediately made us feel welcome. She was attentive, friendly, and helped make our family celebration feel extra special. She checked on us throughout the meal, anticipated our needs, and always did so with a genuine smile. Celebrating a 92nd birthday is a memorable occasion, and Anne played a big part in making it such a joyful experience. Outstanding service, delicious food, and a warm atmosphere--we couldn't have asked for a better evening. Thank you, Anne, and the entire Pismo's team for helping us create such a special memory for Grandma! Happy 91nd Birthday to Grandma! What a wonderful milestone to celebrate with family.

QUICK TAKE Get: Blackened Salmon Tacos Skip: Ultimate Combo Louie, Shrimp Cocktail, Grilled Alaskan Halibut Know: Several of the seafood dishes tasted dry or tired, and the meal did not feel worth the price. The only thing I would recommend is the Blackened Salmon Tacos. They come with fire-roasted salsa, avocado, cabbage-cilantro slaw, pico de gallo and lime crema. These had much better flavor, texture, and balance than the rest of our meal. Unfortunately, the other seafood was where things really fell apart. Ultimate Combo Louie: This comes loaded with jumbo prawns, shrimp and Dungeness crab, so at $38 I expected it to feel like a premium seafood salad. It didn't. The seafood lacked freshness and the shrimp in particular were soft and soggy. Shrimp Cocktail: Probably the most disappointing item. The shrimp tasted old and had a limp, waterlogged texture instead of being firm and fresh. Grilled Alaskan Halibut: At $42, this should have been one of the highlights. Instead, the fish was dry and overcooked, which is especially frustrating with a piece of halibut at this price. Hoisin Brussels Sprouts: Way too sweet for me. The sweetness completely overwhelmed the Brussels sprouts instead of complementing them.
