Visiting family in Amarillo and we stopped here at Dyer's for some barbecue and it did not disappoint and the service was great

    Great ribs. Includes 6 sides

Really great barbecue. I'd go back for sure. Very generous portions. Staff was super sweet. The service was fast even though the restaurant was completely full. Plenty of parking.

Three meat sample with family style sides

Great old school family style BBQ! Stopped by on a road trip and was not disappointed. Three meats with all the sides, great onion rings. Bar area had a lot of locals that seemed to be having a great time! Staff was friendly and explained the family style that they are famous for. Highly recommend if you are in the area

Was passing through I-40 from San Diego & some relatives of mine from town recommended here for a sunday spot. Cool homey saloon type of place, classic texan institution type of vibe. Pros: Ribs were insane, wish I got all ribs Potato Salad was also great Onion rings insane Texan beer great Price was very fair Server was cute, service was good Cons: Brisket was kinda dry

Great old school bbq spot. This was my second bbq stop during my visit to Amarillo and food did not disappoint my taste buds. The friendly bartender steered me in the right direction and I ended up with Dyer's Special. My plate came loaded with brisket, ribs, coleslaw and potato salad with side plate of toast and bowl of beans. The restaurant is split into a large dinning room and a good size bar with plenty of dining tables. As a side note the one of the ladies working there has a great sense of humor and helped my wife played a practical joke on me. Well done! You get 5 additional stars for that.

Rib ends were perfectly cooked and sides were fresh and delicious. Waitress was very friendly and good at looking out for what we needed. We enjoy the laid back environment in the bar...the ambiance reminds me of that old TV show CHEERS!

Delicious! Stopped in today for lunch. The place was quiet. Food came out fast, and the service was good. Portions were HUGE for the price. We had ribs, catfish, chicken tenders, and fried pickles. The pickles were super thin and crispy. Catfish was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Tartar sauce was more flavorful than most- an extra tang of garlic or onion. My son devoured the ribs. They weren't super smoky. Cole slaw was great, too.

I should have moved the bread so the delicious ribs would show better. This was the light plate and I still had leftovers!

I had a wonderful visit at this restaurant. I had been here once before a couple of years ago but evidently underappreciated it. It was okay but not the cheapest in town. And I'm on a budget, both the travel budget and the senior budget. But I was in the area and decided to give it another try because it was close and I hadn't been here for a while. In spite of all the social distancing due to the coronavirus I had a wonderful experience! There was a wait to get in because they could only use about 50% of their tables but once I was seated the server took care of me right away. I decided to order a beer to go with my meal and they had one that was an expensive , $2 or $3, I can't remember. I looked over the menu and chose the light plate ribs for $10.99. No offense to any of the other BBQ places but I think these might have been the best ribs that I've had since I've been in town. Of course I think I've said that before when I've gotten good ones. These really were delicious. They give you a lot of food considering it's the light plate. I was able to order two sides plus it came with bread. Everything was delicious and it was enough that I had leftovers to enjoy the next day also. The only reason for four stars rather than five is there was one time during the evening when no one came by for a very long time. I'm one of those people that doesn't usually need anything but I was told I would receive some sauce but it never did come. I mentioned it to my server at the end and she made sure to include some with my leftovers which was great. The person that delivered my food and promised the sauce was not the same person who took my order. I still tipped well and was happy with my experience. I would also like to give a shout out to the man going around clearing the tables and cleaning them. He was right on those tables the instant people got up and left, something I have not seen a lot of recently. And he didn't just give the table a quick swipe, he thoroughly wiped it down along with the chairs as well. This was some of the most thorough cleaning in a restaurant I've seen since I started going to restaurants again during the pandemic. I was highly impressed. I recommend this restaurant with no qualms and I look forward to going back

You order food at the register and then sit down, so when you order a dessert, they can put a little note to serve it to you at the end. Speaking of dessert, that pecan cobbler ala mode smacks! The perfect ending to a delicious meal. The meat is so tender and falls off the bone. You don't need a knife to cut anything. A plastic knife will do the job easily. They say the brisket is the star of the show and I can attest to that. However, the turkey is the runner up. I don't know what they do to that Turkey, but my husband and I might have to grab more to take home with us tomorrow. They were so nice too because we ordered a 1/2 rack of ribs and they ran out, so we got the last of the ribs. The also doubled all our meats! We wound up getting 1/2 a lb of turkey and 1 lb of brisket! We are going to be eating some good sandwiches for the next few days. We definitely plan on coming back the next time we are in Amarillo. If you're in the area, definitely come in and grab a bite! They also have plenty of choices in beer too.

It's just my favorite food!(after Maine lobster, of course ) She said Wesley's had the best bbq in town. Of course, we had to try it. It was quite a way from our hotel. 9 miles, but well worth it! I had the small rib plate. 3 meaty smokey ribs so tender the meat came right off the bone. With the sweet hickory bbq sauce adding just the right flavor, I was sold. The pinto beans were cooked just right. The cole slaw is the type I like, not over mayonnaised and not too sweet. Crunchy cabbage. There were 7 of us, and everyone cleaned their plate! The bonus was a young singer, Nelson mckinney entertained us with his wonderful voice and guitar playing. This is a don't miss place to eat if you are in Amarillo.

Service was superb, friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. And of course, the entertainment factor is real! While we were there, we watched someone attempt the famous 72 oz steak challenge. Fun fact: it's actually cheaper to take the challenge and pay less than to just order the steak outright.
