I come to Amarillo every September for a small western music fest. I always try to only eat local. While in an antique store on 6th St. the owner asked if I like bbq. It's just my favorite food!(after Maine lobster, of course ) She said Wesley's had the best bbq in town. Of course, we had to try it. It was quite a way from our hotel. 9 miles, but well worth it! I had the small rib plate. 3 meaty smokey ribs so tender the meat came right off the bone. With the sweet hickory bbq sauce adding just the right flavor, I was sold. The pinto beans were cooked just right. The cole slaw is the type I like, not over mayonnaised and not too sweet. Crunchy cabbage. There were 7 of us, and everyone cleaned their plate! The bonus was a young singer, Nelson mckinney entertained us with his wonderful voice and guitar playing. This is a don't miss place to eat if you are in Amarillo. read more

This was my very first time to this restaurant and I have to say that they know how to cook some excellent brisket and turkey!!! The employees were all very friendly and professional, plus they have great senses of humor :) The side dishes of mac & cheese, potato salad, jalapeno cornbread, and jalapeno cream corn were all brilliant, fresh, and completely hot temperature-wise. Well, the new owner replied to my very frank and honest review. But he failed to mention that Westleys cook was not working there any longer and yes it was everything I said it was at the time I gave the review. What the new owners failed to realize is they not only purchased an eating place but a reputation and atmosphere. As I said change will cause differences, but the family friendly atmosphere and consistently good meat was gone. That's what people came here for. Now, we heard they'd hired back the experienced cook and for that reason alone we came back. So as long as she's here or trains someone to cook like she does then we may keep coming. And yes.... The meat was always consistently good, and tender for all the times we came here (years) and today it the way they had been for 30 yrs before. If you keep it up you may regain the other customers that came to expect that. And please don't get angry at constructive criticism, If someone is being honest and not spiteful you can learn from it and better your business. read more

We have been eating here for many years. My wife likes the jalapeño sausage sandwich. I used to get the loaded frito pie (very good), but someone turned me on to a hidden option called the 'Ron dog' basically the frito pie without the Fritos and adding in cut up hot dog. Very good option for those on protein diets. I can never eat the whole thing! read more

It was just okay. If your hungry it will work. I was hoping for that place you have to go back to, but it wasn't. If you're on that side of town stop. I had a sausage and some brisket. The sausage was better than the brisket. The sides were okay. I'd like to be more generous, but it was what it was. Service was fast, not much interaction. It has the strip mall vibe. read more

Wow!! You would not expect it here but this place has something very unique to offer. I had the jalapeño sausage and I couldn't believe how juicy and flavorful it was. Not to mention it was spicy but not so hot you need to step outside. The entire restaurant is filled with so much personality and care. It also has a great local feel to it. This place is definitely worthwhile for lunch or dinner for yourself, family, friends or a big group. You can't go wrong here. The food is good and is sometimes a hit or miss but that's okay so is my own cooking hahaha. The service is great depending on who is there!!! Owners could learn to smile more and be nicer to the customers...that would be my only complaint. Bathroom could use a repaint and new mirror. The tables and booths look great. Easily some of the best, if not the best, BBQ ribs I've ever had the pleasure of laying my grubby little paws on. The other meats were almost as delicious and you can't beat the personalized friendly service. Even the people we met in line were smoking g and willing to lend their opinion on exactly what one should order to ensure a delicious meal. We split a whole rack of ribs, two 3-meat platters, we sampled everything, and a fully loaded Frito pie, which was a popular dish!
