Overall they had the best rates and don't charge extra for the truck or the travel fee (which is actually a fee for the time it takes a moving company to get to your place and then back home after the job is done). They were a bit slow to respond at first, but were very helpful in helping us prep for the move to reduce cost (making sure all is packed, having boxes of similar size stacked together because that's how they move them - by size and not by room designation). And they hustled. The moved ended up taking longer than we anticipated (lots of stairs!) but they ended up charging us less than we thought - they stopped by for lunch on the way to the new place and didn't charge us for that time. I don't believe they're insured, so not sure if I would recommend them if you have a lot of stuff. But they took good care of our IKEA stuff and I will use them again next time we move.

I noticed in his pictures that he participated in relief funds for disasters and repurposes/recycles the junk people want gone. He has a business ethics model with which I can identify. Secondly, but just as important, his prices were fair and his communication was efficient while being courteous. He is responsive and reasonable. No troubles with communication and organizing the move at all. Last and perhaps most important, his guys showed up on time (6 mins early) on the day of the move. Erik and Odell worked well with each other. They were both efficient and careful with our stuff. Erik is hearing impaired and I kept forgetting and sometimes saying things while standing behind him. However, that's my problem and not on him. Odell was personable and Erik is a very sweet person. As movers, excellent but also pleasant human beings. I did notice that Odell is a smoker but it isn't any of my business what he does on his own time. Just mentioning in case anyone else cares. There's an overload of dust and allergens with moving anyway so not a deal breaker for me. Oh! Odell was a godsend with having his tools with him! My hubby had gone to return our U-Box things and Odell took the legs/feet off my elliptical very quickly with great proficiency, with Erik's support, and we got the whole move done within our scheduled time without going over. By the time of our second move which was a few days following our first move the owner seemed impatient and rushing, due to the fact that on the first move one of his movers destroyed the canopy steel rods to our expensive master bed and the owner did not want to compensate us for this damage. After numerous phone calls to the owner he reluctantly sent us a check for $30.00 to cover the damage of our canopy rods, these rods individually are priced well above $150.00 per rod and there are 4 rods total. Replacement of these rods cost me and my wife well over $500.00 and the owner issued us a check for a measely $30.00 did not return phone calls or was man enough to discuss the matter with us any further once he received payment for our final move. This company is an African-American owned company and it pains me to say it but it is less than professional. The movers employed at this company do not take the care in the handling of your furniture nor do they have common decency or respect for your home. My wife found one of the movers using our bathroom without permission. This company is not the company you want to use if you care about your valuables and cherish your belongings. If they do damage your property the owner will squirm his way out of compensating you for your valuables while trying to ensure that you pay for the move so that he can quickly get out of your home without proper compensation for your valuables.
