It still has a homey vibe with leather couches, rustic tables and a beautiful wooden bar top area. There were two employees hustling the best they could with a consistent steady line of customers. With this location being smaller, it does get a little cluttered at the ordering register. Unfortunately, my favorite bagel egg sandwich was not available as they were out of egg patties by 11am. At least the Asiago bagels were available and I bumped it up with herb cream cheese. Also got an iced Mexican mocha. Food and drinks did take a while longer to come out, understandably so. I will say that the Mexican mocha was incredibly well balanced and flavorful...much better than the state location. The bagel was toasted, but the outside was a little burnt. The smear of cream cheese was a lot...so much so, that I had to get a knife and take over half of it off (note to self: easy cream cheese or on the side when ordering). Seating outside was nice but the patio was small. Tough to seat 4 people inside when 2 people take the only 4-seater table to work.

It's got a darker, celestial vibe. Which makes sense with the nod to alchemy. There are enough cozy nooks to have a private chat or bigger tables for groups. I'm a black coffee type of gal so I can't speak to the fancy coffee drinks. But coffee straight is a nice middle ground between robust and bright. It is always spotless, the ambiance is relaxed, the music is great, and there are so many comfortable places to sit depending on your mood. Sometimes I relax on the couches, other times I grab a table or sit near the window and enjoy the view. They also have plenty of outdoor seating, which is perfect on sunny Boise days and makes it a great place to sit outside and enjoy the atmosphere. It is one of those places where you can easily spend time working, meeting someone, or just enjoying a great cup of coffee. They also have great food, which makes it even better whether you are stopping in for a quick bite or staying a while. Everything I have tried has been fresh and really good. You can also tell that management cares about both their employees and their customers. When a place is run well it shows through the staff, the atmosphere, and the overall experience, and District Coffee absolutely delivers. They have a big QR code right when you pull up so you can check out their menu. They also have a huge menu at the window as well. I always get the same 3 drinks so I went with my small iced americano with sugar free vanilla with room for cream. I can hear my drink being worked on while I waited. The grinding the the beans. The mixing of my espresso and cream back and forth from each cup. That's one thing I appreciate about this joint, they took the time to mix my ingredients all together. My drink was the perfect shade of brown. Taking that first sip, it was balanced in cream, espresso and sweetness. I pulled around and noticed on the other side of the stand was a couple tables to chill at. I parked and hung outside for a bit. I adore the little set up they have! The fake grass, the strung upped lights and the cool van. It's a cool set up even if it's the one middle of the parking lot. What a creative way to add some seating to the spot. District Coffee pushes out great coffee, especially their chai. Some of the best chai in town! It's good to know they have this stand here on this end of town. It's conveniently off Overland with easy access in and out. I enjoyed my visit here today and I look forward to my next caffeinated beverage the next time I'm in this area.

Since it is good in other ways, I have revisited many times and tried many different drinks just to be certain, or try to find one that is worth drinking. Something beyond just bad technique or a bad brand of beans, they use Caffeina beans and I've been to Caffeina and had the same beans and they weren't bad. I've had several coworkers unprovoked mention that the coffee here is awful also, I really wish they could get it together. (Side note; I was fed up with the coffee so I tried a green tea one day and they *not joking* gave me a bag of tea in a cup of ice water... WITHOUT BREWING IT OR ANYTHING for like 4$. I wasn't in a rush. I hung out and looked at all the merch and goodies while my drink was being made. The shop is small and cute. There's big windows which give the small space so much pretty lighting. Love the fresh plants and the simple decor here. I adore that they reuse the syrup bottles as vases for plants, it adds a fun touch to the space. The shop is very welcoming. I also appreciate the outdoor seating. There are strung up lights outside which would be pretty at night. They close at 4 so enjoying the lights would be hard. But I can imagine a brisk fall day, late afternoon when it gets dark early chillin outside with a big mug in hand. Talk about a great setting. I didn't grab the sweet barista's name. She asked me if I wanted to add my own cream or if she can do it for me. I told her to go for it. I should have done it myself cause I could have used a hair more cream. It was on the bitter side but I added a little more half and half when I got home and it was perfect! You can really taste the espresso, it wasn't watered down which was nice! All balanced in espresso, cream and sweetness. This little joint pushes out some bold drinks. And it was nice to see how many people were at this place the same time I was. The barista killed it and made me a great drink. It was great stopping in for my afternoon caffeinated beverage. I look forward to coming back.
