My favorite dishes are the Bossam, Korean fried chicken, and of course the tofu soup. I also love the simple but flavorful side dishes (banchan) that you get with your meal. There is something about the authentic flavor that keeps me coming back. The owners and staff are always friendly and welcoming. Time to head back and try more of the menu items like the Naengmyun and Galbi-tang.

As a group of 2, we decided to share the kimchi pancake appetizer that came with kimchi and various banchan. The pancake was delicious, savory, cheesy and a great addition with the dipping sauce. I also appreciated the kimchi that paired nicely together with the pancake. For the main, I ordered the spicy chicken bibimbap. Here, you can adjust your spice tolerance to preference - my tolerance is high but I decided to go for the medium level. The bibimbap came out in a hot and sizzling dish so just be careful if you're sensitive to hot foods! After waiting for it to cool down a bit, I mixed the layers around and was happy to get the crunchy rice at the bottom of the dish. The chicken was a good balance of spicy but not too overpowering. Depending on the preparation, you might be used to having bibimbap with sauce that you mix in, but this variation already has everything combined within the pot. It also comes with a small side of tofu soup, which was piping hot but so worth it as it was spicy and comforting. I really enjoyed all of the bold flavors with each dish and I'm excited to come back again to try something new!

I came here on a really rainy day and this was the perfect place for warm, hearty soup. My boyfriend and I ordered the beef short rib soup and the garlic pork wraps. The portions were massive! We were basically able to make this 2.5 meals and we're both pretty big eaters. The soup was so flavorful despite being light, and the short ribs had a good chew without being too stringy. The garlic pork wraps were also delicious. I ended up ordering the soup again a few days later when I had a stomachache! I'll definitely be back here sometime in the near future.

That's because it was such a convenient food delivery spot for me during the pandemic that I never bothered. This was my first in-person dining experience here. Instead of pouring contents out of takeout containers, Jamie and I were engaged in a very hands-on preparation of our hotpot order. We went with the $47.99 Medium Pork Bone Casserole which served two hearty appetites (Photo 7). It consisted of a mammoth, meaty pork rib mixed with cabbage, potato, and sesame leaf in a flavorful soybean pork broth. For even more calories, we also requested the $3.99 Ramen Noodles (Photo 5). Add the generous servings of Banchan (Photo 4), and we were assured our gluttony remained intact. Even though it is a pocha, the food all felt very akin to Chinese food, with strong but singular flavours for each dish The fried chicken with sweet and sour sauce tasted like orange chicken. It came with slightly crisp tteok which was nice to break up the overwhelming flavour with that texture difference The squid dish offered a similar experience, with the texture of the crispy noodles distracting from the squid sauce for a limited time The crab and egg soup was a bit disappointing, the crab was the shredded fake crab stick kind, the soup was thick but mix of flavours (heavy on the green and red bell peppers) left a lot to be desired. There's a lot of good Korean food in Oakland, so you won't be stuck for choice around the area

[I do want to mention we had a couple of caucasians in our group before I start going into detail on spice level and flavors] spicy chicken with cheese: this came out first and it was phenomenal. the green onions soaked into the sauce was a nice little palatte cleanser and the cheese was a nice touch to balance the salty/spicy flavors fried chicken: sweet and spicy: very sticky sauce that was gochujang forward fried chicken: garlic and pepper: this was very flavorful and very crispy still. comes with sliced jalapenos that gave it a nice kick. kimchi fried rice with cheese corn: mix this baby up! all of the flavors and cheese melt together nicely - but do be warned you should eat it in a timely manner. if the cheese hardens you can request the servers to re-torch it for that cheese pull :) we also ordered the seafood chive pajeon (pancake) but I didn't get a taste or a picture of it. based on not having any time to take a picture or get a bite of it - it must have been delicious. everyone else was drinking somaek (soju and beer - terra) which I've been told goes fantastic with korean fried chicken. I stuck to classic korean pear juice and was not disappointed. even with getting extra beer, our total was about $180 before tip between 5 people with no leftovers. they're open super late! will definitely be back soon :)

*This review is for Chimmelier and Oh G Burger…read more We were the only ones in the restaurant on a Sunday evening around 6pm; when we approached the register, we were able to order on the kiosk (to the right of the register) or through the cashier. It was an ideal place to take a group because 1) it was fast casual 2) everyone can put in their individual orders without the awk who's-going-to-put-their-card-in issue 3) there were 2 restaurants (Chimmelier + Oh G Burger) in 1 so more options! What I got: 8 pc sweet gochujang wings (sauce was called YANG'YUM') and a side of tots with a cup for water **the wings were from Chimmelier and the tots were from Oh G Burger We were able to combine two tables together to fit our group of 5 and the cashier brought our food over in quick succession. The tots were my fav even tho the wings were supposed to be the star of the show. I liked how they gave me PLENTY of disposable gloves because the sauce is v sticky. Gochujang is a savory, sweet Korean chili paste, but I would say it was more sweet than spicy. I enjoyed my meal but maybe would wanna try a dry rub because putting on gloves every time can be a chore. I went for a yelp elite perk once and grabbed their chicken sando which was tasty.

We ended up having to pay the higher price because they said the menu just wasn't reflecting the latest prices. Fine, whatever. We both ordered chicken sandwiches and they were tasty. Also got fries for sides and some of them came out cold but we didn't think too much about it and we left feeling like we would return. However, on our second trip back - we once again ordered chicken sandwiches and also shrimp toast as an appetizer. One bite into the shrimp toast and the piece was very COLD...It wasn't fully cooked so we flagged it to them. They were very apologetic and happy to take it back to warm it up. But damn! PSA to diners here to check your food to make sure it's properly cooked here. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice...well, I'm not sure I'll come back.
