Don't let this small store fool you.... The food was delicious, well seasoned and perfectly cooked…read more I didn't get a picture, but they have the self serve beer tap which I thought was cool. The best part though.... The service. We had the privilege of being served by Becca. I don't know if I've ever met a happier person with such a beautiful personality. She made sure my buddies food was cooked properly because of a food allergy. She made a few wonderful suggestions to me and made sure I had all the sauces for my kabobs. She stopped by to make sure we were happy with everything a few times. She truly made the experience better a billion times over.

The reasons have kind of been piling up over the year, but enough is enough. - I don't understand why the charge for extra sauce is 75 cents to $1. The amount of sauce provided is just never enough - My signature dish here is the fish and chips. Today, they were completely over cooked - very dark on the outside. - The fries were not cooked long enough and I could be wrong, but it seems like the types of fries used here changes all the time - The entire staff (even the guy in the kitchen) are staring at their cell phones. I wanted to take a picture, but didn't want to violate privacy concerns - I miss the weekly specials - it's what drew me here in the beginning. - I've had several of the other dishes, but they just didn't "wow" me. The burger is way too messy, the wraps fall apart after a few bites, and the chicken shawarma requires sauce to have any kind of flavor. I'm sorry to have to stop coming - the owners used to be here all the time, but now it seems like it's just kids running the place. Time to find the next hole in the wall that I like to eat and work at. Respectfully, Marc

While I was in Belton taking care of business I decided to stop in for a quick lunch. Note: They are only open until three. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by an exceptionally polite staff. She showed me the menu on the wall and even gave me recommendations on her favorites. I took her recommendation and ordered the chicken salad sandwich which did not disappoint. No need to try anything else stick with this one. I Added a tomato bisque soup which was all right... but I think I'll try a different soup next time. Overall we will definitely try to stop in when we're in town during the lunch time frame. You should do the same... Don't let this little gem go unnoticed

Decor is pleasant, but a little drab, and the old building is interesting. Staff was friendly. Place seemed clean. You then order and move along as they make your sandwich. Had a bit of sales-pressure at the end where they try to get you to buy extra soup and chips. But, I get it. I ordered the turkey bacon wrap, but asked for a croissant. Had mayo, lettuce, and tomato, as well, with a side pickle. I was less than satisfied at the end of my meal, however. For a $6 sandwich, there wasn't much to it. The croissant was halved and each half had two rolled-in-half pieces of supermarket deli turkey. I honestly think it may have even been 2 total pieces that were on the one croissant and then cut in half, but I am trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. Basically, there was very little turkey. I could have made this sandwich at home; nothing overly tasty about it. Hubby had the pre-made chef salad. $10 for that. Adequate, but nothing overly special. I ate again when I got home, and I never do that. We really want to see local businesses thrive; and with all of the government buildings and service-related stores and shops nearby, this would be a great place for regular lunches. But, they need to beef up their sandwiches and make it worthwhile. Specialty chips (included), a good sauce. Music in the background would help as well. One other thing...I get the paper plates, but why the styrofoam cups? Get plastic and wash.

You order at the counter and they serve you at your assigned table. We more or less tried all of the meats and they are excellent. Standouts were of course the brisket, and the ribs. The turkey is also delicious. The potato salad is good too. Apparently the desserts are amazing but we were too full!

What BBQ place on the list happens to be open on a Monday (and quite frankly, seven days a week)? Miller's Smokehouse in Belton. Miller's Smokehouse has one of the longest tenures on the Texas Monthly Top 50, making the list four times in a row (the third-highest behind Louie Mueller and Snow's). They've got their business down. As I arrived, I parked in a free parking lot just across the street and got into the line around 12:30. The line moves pretty efficiently, and you order separately from the barbecue line. I think this immediately felt disheartening as a barbecue fan. You kinda expect to get your food while in line and watch the assembly of workers put it together, instead of them being in a separate location in the back giving you order numbers. It doesn't feel like a true Texas barbecue experience and more like a Dickey's Barbecue Pit. Instead of going for a tray, I opted for one of their specialty sandwiches, the El Gallo Picante. It has their spicy hot link sausage and their smoked chicken topped with coleslaw, onions, jalapeños, pickles, and barbecue sauce. I also got a side of their broccoli salad out of curiosity and a roll of their homemade cornbread. I got my drink and sat down with my roll of cornbread. It wasn't long until my tray came to me. The sandwich stood on its own as a behemoth. So much chicken and sausage fell out of the bun. The sandwich was less concerned about being a sandwich and more focused on creating a space to try and contain a mixture of ingredients. It wasn't bad, but it was hard to say anything other than that I felt uninspired by the entire thing. The sausage was fine, the chicken was kinda dry, but everything together with all the separate ingredients masked the meats' faults. The broccoli salad was a unique side that I had never seen before at a barbecue joint, so I wanted to try it. It was cool, but not something I'd get again. As for the cornbread, it was quality, but if that's the most impressive part of the meal, then I'm questioning the establishment's ability to create a good barbecue experience. I think it's so cool to have so many special barbecue places near me and the ability to try so many, but I'm starting to wonder if the places that stay on the list for four editions start to lose their oomph. Do they become complacent knowing they already have their business and are established? Is there any need to try and push the envelope when you're just a recurring guest on top barbecue lists? Is it a me issue? Is it my fault I went to Burnt Bean a week prior and now I'm trying a place that sells all-day barbecue? With your big brick-and-mortar and your TV screen menus, you're not as hungry as you used to be.

My wife had the special, Beef stew with Corn Bread. The catfish was very good and tasty both sides were good. The beef stew left a lot to be desired my wife was looking forward to it. Then she started picking out the meat with all the fat and grizzle on it, which ended up being 85% of all the meat in the bowl. we told the waitress about it and she seemed put off about it. She told the cook and the manager. A little while later she brings a small bowl out with " what she said the cook said had lean meat on it." the first three pieces I took off had more grizzle on it. Sorry not cutting it, the manager never came over to the table to say anything or acknowledge the problem. A little concern would have been nice. went to pay the bill and the girl at the register said she could charge me half price for the food. I guess that is the best they can do, so it would seem all they want is your money and not trying to fix the problem. we will never cross this threshold again wishing you the best in the future.
