We were very surprised when we walked in the front door to this newly opened upscale bar in the middle of Solido. We've come to Salido for several years and always enjoy exploring new options so when we saw this one in the middle of the shopping area in town on Main Street. We decided we had to pop our heads in. It's huge and very well designed. Loved the cocktail menus and all of the drink options. The bartenders took great care of us and we had a quick snack and a drink. Will definitely be back here and hope to see this one continue to thrive here after a year. read more

I really enjoyed the live music, and my friends loved the wine selection. While there were some positives, a few aspects of the experience fell short. The service was a bit slow, and we ended up clearing our own table. My Old Fashioned started out excellent, but about halfway through, the bitters became overpowering and threw off the balance of the drink. We also ordered a few appetizers, but no plates or utensils were provided until our server returned about 15 minutes later. Despite these issues, I'd be willing to give this place another chance. I was visiting my wife's family that moved to Salado, TX. Being from California I was dreading this trip. Well God proved me wrong. Fantastic little town. Our final night was a magnificent grand finale with after dinner cocktails at Bar 1859. The ambience, architecture, decor immediately grab you. Amazingly the service matches all of that too. But wait, there's more. My brother in law and I sat and sipped Pappy Van Winkle. The price point was far below anywhere else. If you ever find yourself on the road between Austin and Waco, get there and hopefully heaven will turn out just as nice. read more

Service was impeccable, aesthetics were Texas rustic chic and the atmosphere was what one would expect for a Sunday afternoon. We opted for their flatbread style pizzas. She got a loaded out meat pizza and loved it. I had their Blackberry & Brie pizza which was absolutely bananas! The flavor combo was pure genius. Well, good golly Miss Molly; where do I start? Tonight was my 4th or 5th time in this place. I went there for some food and beverages. Had a rough day at work. So, I watched the staff going about their business and gaggling about, for about 15 minutes before I was acknowledged. Got my food ordered and my drink being created. The burger was meh, not much flavor. The drink was delightful. The attention from the staff; minimal. Yeah, they did "circle back" once or twice, but the interaction was lacking in empathy or warmth. Now, after spending about $15 dollars for the drink and about $17 dollars for the burger; I expected a more engaging rapport with the staff. I was contemplating getting another Old Fashioned, at $15 per, when I thought, "screw this" and I headed out. I ended up at another "hole in the wall" and the bartender reported having the same sort of experience. Now, if you want a really cool experience AND YOU ARE WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY, this place may be good for a quick sip. But, if you are there like I was, I would hesitate about entering the facility. read more

Came here for a drink Sunday afternoon for my dad's birthday. The inside has a great ambiance and when the weather is nice I recommend sitting outside on their patio that offers fun yard games. The drinks were very good and well priced for this being a more upscale bar. The service was great and brought our drinks out to us on the patio. Will definitely go again. read more

Went with friends and was disappointed that the back patio isn't wheelchair accessible so that's a big negative as my husband is in a wheelchair and he is excluded from the experience. We've been in there three times total. The service is extremely slow even when there's only two tables. The staff never recognizes your presence. It's not like there're under staffed. Don't expect anyone to come around and ask if you need anything. It's pathetic. If you just want a drink go to Terlingua On Main. The staff is friendly and the drinks actually have a whole shot in them. Bar 1859 serves martinis but only 1/2 glass. Shot glasses are short poured. Guess the need to make up for not serving drinks like a real bar. On our third try we sat outside. After 15 minutes the person working out there finally came over. After giving her our order we asked if she could wipe the dirt and bird feces off the table. Let's just say she really didn't want to. Another 10 minutes later she wiped most of the tiny table down. When the drinks came they must have been sitting inside for a while because the ice was mostly melted. FYI. Don't waste your time and money here. It's a great little town with vendors who will take care of you like you're a valuable customer instead of making you feel like you're imposing on them. read more
