I went to this location with little expectation of getting my questions answered because I was certain I had irreversibly messed up my apartment walls by retouching spots with the wrong kind of paint. I had the right color, but was using an egg shell paint on a flat painted surface...which I didn't notice until I had retouched the entire townhouse before realizing that it was drying with a shine instead of flat. I had covered all our walls with these shiny spots and it looked horrible. At this Dunn-Edwards location, I was helped by Stephen, who was so patient and supportive in guiding me through how to potentially correct my mistakes. My wife and I went here to look for some paint. We were hoping for some help since we have to paint our whole house and it's all very overwhelming. As we walked in to an empty store we were eventually greeted by an older gentleman with a simple "hi, how are you". Notice there wasn't a question mark at the end of that? It's because he was doing his best to not ask any to avoid helping us. He immediately walked to the back and there was another worker on the other side on the store just on his phone. We stood around for a while and looked at paints for about 15 minutes until we realized that there wasn't going to be a follow up to the initial greeting. For the past couple of years I've come across multiple locations for this company. However the staff at this location manages to make me feel welcome every time I stop by. When it comes to ordering in store or over the phone, the staff finds a way to get me what I need for my current job. While providing exceptional service in person and over the phone they also provide FREE delivery. I've only used this service twice but both times that I did I was greeted with a great attitude and positive energy. The driver Sebastian was reluctant on getting me what I needed and insisted that if I was in need of any more product to let them know. This team is absolutely amazing. I was overwhelmed and indecisive when it came to choosing colors and type of paint for my house. So many options! Every team member I spoke with (yes, I came on several occasions to get color swatches and samples) was extremely patient and knowledgeable. We came yesterday & had to wait for 20 minutes for the register. While waiting we saw other customers got their paint orders right away, no matter how many they bought. But when we redeem coupons for free paint samples, the cashier told us to come back 25-30 minutes later. We know it doesn't take long to mix paint, so this is the way they treat customer that use FREE COUPON. We came back 25 minutes later & they haven't mix our paint, so we waited for a few minutes more. They could mix our paint in a few minutes, but instead asking us to waste more of our time & gasoline to drive somewhere else to come back later. Really bad service. The one guy (employee) had his computer up with a transaction, while his customer was one the phone finding something out, I guess, because I was curious on our company cost at Dunn Edwards. He said, "she can look it up for you when she's done"... I was like great!!! He said it probably wouldn't be much of a difference, maybe a couple of cents. I then said wow cause Home Depot has it for 13.95...Do you price match??? A nod of the head and I was like "so I should buy it at Home Depot"? Response was a nod of yes...lol...OMG....I couldn't believe as a business account I would only receive .02 cents off if that. I waited very patiently at the register while she was finishing up. This older gentlemen card left a balance of 12.00 or so and the poor guy didn't know why. She told him sir i'm on this side i'm not your bank..... That's just plain tacky!!! That's when I saw a roll of her eyes... Finally the transaction was done and our paint was being loaded...PERFECT....lol....NO....She closes her register, turns, and walks away. Into her office and shuts the door!!!!! WHAT!!!!! Hello was I invisible? No I'm pretty sure I'm not! She had to of heard our conversation and knew I was waiting for her, they only work about 3 feet apart from one another. The other guy knew I was mad he asked if I still wanted that price and our paint just got loaded up... My response yeah not so much any more thank you and let your manager know I'm going to give her a good review. By the way Sherwin Williams price was cheaper than both companies. Sad thing is we are closing a shopping center job 40,000 sq. ft. and thats why I wanted to know. Oh well, their bad!!!!!! I'm sorry, but I think anyone would be writing a review in disbelief, of what just happened and she's the manager. This is a reflection onto employees!!!! All I have to say is after so many specialty paint stores and disappointment my paint contractor finally directed me to Dunn Edwards. I happen to live near Alhambra store and there I went. One associate gave me all the brochures on the wall and had me sit and look. A few moments later I was approached by Amy Hy. Perhaps it was my puzzled and frustrated look that shouted the dire need of help but whatever it was my experience took a sharp turn and I couldn't be more pleased. I actually for the first time felt like I was in an actual paint store, I guess too much to ask for when you go to a paint store nowadays. Anyways, she asked me about my likes and dislikes and after a brief interview she came up with the palette I envisioned but could never pull together with so many colors at hand. I then purchased my samples and off I headed to paint my blotches but before I get home I found myself headed to a new community in Azusa with my style of homes. I saw a different palette that I wasn't interested in at first and ended snapping pictures of it. On my way home from the model homes I drove by Glendora and saw a Dunn Edwards and stopped by to ask if they could identify the color in the picture which I had snapped. Sadly, again I felt again like I was invincible and if you wanna know the bad experience I had there you can read the review I left for that store on their review (I don't want to take away the thunder from the superstar in Alhambra). Next day I went back to see Amy and as soon as I walked into this store I am immediately greeted by the associates, what a change of environment. Amy remembers and approaches me and asks about my samples, I fill her in and again were at the drawing board where she quickly identifies the color palette I wanted to sample. What I hope you can take from this is that in today's society you can't expect to walk into a specialty store and find someone who knows their product just because they wear the apron and badge. I found a diamond in the rough and if you're in the market for paint or thinking about it go to Amy now. This is the type of person who not only takes pride in her job but understands and delivers exceptional customer service. We went there because they have a color consultant. (I believe the Pasadena store does not have a color consultant.) Ivy was extremely helpful and really knows color and what works well together. She made some excellent recommendations for us to consider. With a photo of the exterior of the house that we provided, she was able to provide us with an image of the house with the new colors. This was extremely helpful for making final decisions. We ended up going with her suggestion of the dark accent color and are very happy with the results. read more

Not knowing what colors we should use on the stucco and wood, we made an appointment with Ivy who is the Professional Color Advisor. She has been excellent to work with in so many ways. She has given us plenty of time to discuss various options. She listens well and is sensitive to our preferences. She has an excellent eye for matching various tones. On top of this she has spent a lot of time putting the colors on photos of our house. She has been absolutely great to work with!
