    My coffee
    Patricia D.

Super friendly staff and I love the girls that write the positive messages on the cups. They wrote one on my coffee cup and it brightened my day, Then my daughter wanted a slushy so I decided to get her one and they wrote a message on hers as well. My coffee came out just right and I'm super specific with how I like it. I live like 40 minutes away or else this would for sure be my daily coffee spot

Does this place have a bathroom (public)?

Yes I believe so. I have been coming to this location for 10+ years now and have always been able to use their bathroom no problem, whether I have gotten something from there or have not.

A few things appeared to have been stored away and sorta looks as if it's kinda shoved to the side. For example : soft serve machine. Not sure if some things are placed there because not in season purposes? I wanted candy corn, my husband got a rootbeer. We were both satisfied with what we got. All payments accepted. Parking is available along the side street. Friendly service.

There seems to be a candy store in almost every ocean side town I visit. I simply walk on by as i'm…read morenot the type of parent that lets my kids buy bags of candy. So when I saw one opening in Kingston almost a decade ago I just shrugged and kept going. After learning Dianne Reeder's story you realize this isn't your ordinary candy store. Yes they have over 400 kinds of candy you can buy in bulk and the store has your typical kitschy trinkets but if you look deeper it's where you find Diane's passion and empathy for others. She just wants to make your day a little easier and for you to leave happier than you came. Certainly this isn't hard when you're scooping Janes Ice cream and serving vegan homemade soft serve using Fruition chocolate and coconut milk. Even this is fairly common place in a world over run by NYC transplants expecting everything to be homemade and gluten free. Where Dianne is different, is her commitment to community. In 2005, Diane was the winner of the Microsoft/Bill Gates Start Something Amazing Award (a program honoring the unique and inspiring ways that people use Microsoft related technology to pursue their everyday passions) for her work bringing attention to food insecurity. Her passion for cooking and her desire to help others led her to find a nonprofit organization called The Queens Galley in Kingston. The work she did with the Kingston Farmers Market was instrumental in getting them to accept food stamps. Diane's mission to have people come together and break bread in dignity has now spread across the country. Her commitment even landed her a diner at the Whitehouse with President Obama. To add to her resume she graduated the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park while raising 3 kids and running the candy bar. But let's get to the point. Diane is a pillar of the community where everybody knows her name. But what about the food? Just sitting outside snacking on my freshly roasted nuts (still warm) sipping on my 72hr steeped Lavazza cold brew I'd say simply perfect. Don't miss the carrot cake doughnut topped with maple walnuts and stuffed with macerated pineapple. The passion fruit and blackberry parfait or those rainbow cookie tricolor doughnuts. They have a sweet for everyone! Kingston Candy Bar might not be the hippest spot on the block but the love Diane puts into her work is palpable. Had Christmas dinner for third year and it continues to be an outstanding dining experience…read more Service and ambience is not surprising. The quality of the food is amazing on a holiday with high volume. Our party of six was happy from foie gras and oyster appetizers to scallop, duck breast and steak entrees. The masterful pastry chef outdid herself with miniature Christmas trees filled with chocolate cake and mousse covered with green whipped cream "leaves". Christmas "wreath" similarly delicious and beautiful. Special cocktails were also praised by group.

VEGAN DINNER and a good dinner for all…read more Party of 6, we came for dinner after a busy Saturday at the Sheep and Wool Festival. We had a reservation and were seated with no wait. It's a very comfortable space and not noisy, so we were able to talk. As a vegan, I rarely get a coherent meal at a restaurant. So this was a pleasant surprise. Two of our six ordered and enjoyed the vegan Autumn Bowl of lentils with root vegetables. We enjoyed the crispy artichokes. Well executed. The sauce was spicy and enjoyed. Our party enjoyed Willow Salmon, with fennel orange salad: delish!; Pan Seared Trout was enjoyed; The duck breast was enjoyed. We got a bottle of red wine and some cocktails. All good . I had a strawberry margarita . We all had a good meal and a good time. Considering that the restaurant was not full, we felt the service was Slow. All of the staff were very nice. Bathroom was clean. Parking lot under the facility is large and adequate. Especially nice in rain and cold. A note about the Autumn Bowl: It's priced at $34 (all inexpensive components: lentils, carrots, squash), while the Mirbeau Burger (8 Oz CAB expensive Beef with bun, cheese, onions, portobello mushrooms, bordelaise, field greens, and fries) is priced at only $28! Also, the vegan Gelato is $3 more expensive than the regular Gelato. Why? The pricing doesn't make sense, and I think it should be re-evaluated. I'm grateful & appreciative for the vegan options. It's not easy to find a coherent vegan meal in Rhinebeck and this is one of the best, in a very comfortable space. Helpful?
