Gster and I were very excited for our first trip to Nantucket, how did it take so long for us to get here! We researched the dining options and quickly learned ACK is a "foodie" place and has dozens of unbelievable restaurants. Let me start the experience off at Dune by Greg saying it was the best meal he has ever had. Need I even continue? We called on Fri night and surprisingly were able to make a reservation. What I love most about Dune is that it is in an old colonial house, divided into small rooms, with the original architecture, floors fireplaces and all.It's incredibly, charming, inviting, and truly quintessential. I don't know how many times I used the word 'quaint" while we were in ACK, but Dune is definitely quaint. It also has a large outdoor terrace for dining, with my favorite string lights. We were surprised that even though the menu was somewhat gourmet (in regards to the pairings and sides), everything seemed appetizing. I got the swordfish, which came with an interesting, extremely appetizing combination of salad, beans, and ginger tasting dressing. It was one of the best swordfish I have ever had. Greg got the Duck, and now marks his best meal in general that he has ever had. EVER. Props to them, we will be airlifting meals to Newport. Aside from our meals, so many of the dishes looked extravagant, with every little flavor intentional, and presentation impeccable. You felt that you were looking at art, and it tasted like a masterpiece. read more

Everything was simply amazing. The clam chowder may have been the best I've had since the Pearl in Newport. Halibut was cooked perfectly, salads were delicious, and the side dishes were creative and paired well. wine list also superb, but a little thin on depth. Desserts, excellent. Service excellent. This was our fist time dining experience in Nantucket. Easy reservation. The bar service was great. Friendly wait staff; the food was excellent we ordered the beet salad and the corn crab chowder for starters which were delicious; entrees were the scallops and the halibut both were amazing with a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. The dessert fell short we ordered the strawberry fruit atop a ladyfinger. The lady finger was hard as a brick. We arrived on 9/4 a bit early 4:55 pm to sit at bar for drinks and appetizers. At 4:58 pm we tried to enter and the women who answered door said said. "Sorry 5-10 more minutes. " I said "No worries." As we sat outside enjoying a beautiful evening in Nantucket waiting to go in. The women who told me 5-10 minutes comes out with her co-workers and runs across the street to Brotherhood. We then proceed to go to Brotherhood and low and behold there they are at the bar drinking! So sad to think that instead of seating g custo.ets at the bar, they went to the bar! So sad! read more

We live for the summers on Nantucket and Dune ! We have dined at all of the fine dining establishments on the island and Dune is our favorite. Last night we ordered the Swordfish and the Scallops as mains. Delicious. Kudos to the chef and wait staff. read more

Delicious family meal. Sat upstairs in a semi private room. Very good service. All the meals were very tasty with lovely presentations. One of the appetizers was $24 for 5 oysters which has become a family joke about a "Fisherman's dozen." My entree was $44+ for 3 scallops! The total for 7 people was $700 which included a round of drinks, 3 shared appetizers, 2 desserts and gratuity. Card on table had a long explanation about the additional 2% fee for the staff. 4 out of 5 stars due to the high prices and small portions. Was a bit hungry an hour later. read more

First of all food was absolutely amazing, the jumbo crab tostada was insane delicious and we both throughly enjoyed our dinners as well. Hostess staff was incredibly sweet as well. On the other hand waitress not so much. She came maybe twice to our table, never introduced herself. Didn't check on how our meals were. Nice classy place right on Downtown area. There's two sections, inside and outside. We opted for outdoors and at the bar. Polished off a bottle of wine, had the oysters and shared the swordfish place. Everything was very good. Only major complaint was the waiter/bartender. He was very unfriendly and never tried to make small talk or even ask us if we needed anything after bringing our food out...expecting better service. Great food, very accommodating because I don't eat pork. Beautiful ambiance and relaxing quaint atmosphere. Food came out really fast but it also wasn't that busy and it was closing time. The whole crew is Eastern European so you know they are working hard on that work and travel visa to come back next year. I've eaten here twice, the last time four years ago, so I had high expectations for my recent return. The ambiance is nice and the staff friendly, but the food is why you must go. I wasn't disappointed with my visit two days ago. The flavor combinations were lick-your-plate good, especially the duck confit - in a succulent broth, and the seared tuna on some sort of pesto panzanella - making for an unexpected crunch to go with perhaps the most tender tuna I've ever had. read more

We had a great meal here. There is a vegan plate on the menu under main courses, and several of the starter salads can be made vegan on request. Our waitress was so helpful and checked in several times to make sure our experience was wonderful. The wine selection was stellar, too! I ordered a glass of the sparkling rose and loved that a new bottle was popped right in front of us. (Personal pet peeve: when a glass of sparkling wine arrives flat...but no worries here!) Tip: Reservations needed! Ask to sit outside in the garden when making a reservation--it's much quieter and it's so nice to be outside in the summer. read more

Really enjoyed our experience here. The food was very good with fresh ingredients. Portion is just nice for us. Waiting staff are professional and as we had ordered many plates to share amongst the 5 of us they made sure we split everything in half which I really appreciate when chefs do this in the kitchen. My favorite was the calamari. It was made to a perfection. Their halibut with lemongrass and coconut is another great dish that I enjoyed. The restaurant was busy with a lovely ambience when we were there (dinner). We were seated upstairs and I find it to be more private. The only thing that why I take one star down is due to the dessert esp Panna Cotta. The flavor is there but it's too soft and creamy like custard. Also, the restaurant is quite small so seating is quite tight we had to ask for an extra chair so we have room between us. I will definitely come back here and try out more food from their menu. read more

We ate here for lunch yesterday right after we got to the island. We were seated in the covered outdoor area, which was delightful as the sun was shining and I hadn't unpacked my hat yet. The couple we were with knew several folks, both diners and waitstaff. I was starving, and the steak frites was perfect. Cooked perfectly (rare-med rare) too. A nice touch was the arugula salad that can loaded on top - a very refreshing side to the meat and fries. My husband had the grilled chicken sandwich, which he also enjoyed. The tacos had changed from halibut to swordfish today, and our companion said they were very tasty. Great bottle of Cava wine as well. Inside was several levels, with bathroom on each (but none outside where we were seated. Waitstaff was attentive and helpful. We will come back for dinner sometime soon. read more

The food here was very good. However, Dune should consider training their hostess on how to be inviting and friendly to customers. When we arrived for our reservation the hostess ignored us and continued chatting with her coworker for an extended period of time to the point it became a bit awkward. Only once another customer arrived did the hostess even acknowledge us seemingly to get us out the way so she could get to the next customer. It seemed very strange and felt vaguely racist given I was the only black customer in the restaurant. read more

The food is good, I want so badly for it to be great, but some of the flavors are stretching and come across as overly bold. I am on my phone (left MacBook in the city woohoo), so this will be short. We hadn't planned to be in Nantucket for the night and made no reservations. Also we ate prodigious amounts of cheese during the day, so I wanted something light. A private party had taken over a place close to the boat basin (bar closed for private party: everyone here seems to be attending a wedding), so we walked around and found Dune. I'm not a regular Nantucket visitor but we went to Pearl a year or two ago--one of the best/hottest restaurants here--and while it was great, I think this may be even better. The Caesar (something I never order at upscale restaurant) but friend ordered was phenomenal. Many kinds of lettuce and the tenderest white anchovies, lightly but well-dressed. Yum. The gnocchi with peas, mint, and ramps atop some purée: so rich but not heavy. Maybe best gnocchi ever eaten. That's a meatless dish, and you could be a vegetarian and not suffer at this place. I regard vegetarianism as synonymous with suffering and deprivation but chefs like this know what they're doing. Side of spring veggies full of flavor. Delicious. White asparagus and snap peas so fresh. Friend had white asparagus risotto appetizer and the scallop entree. Perfect. Lovely downstairs room. Small. The weather isn't great (air temp 63 high, water 57), so it wasn't crowded. There is an upstairs, but the first floor is charmingly intimate. My friend doesn't drink and I had just one glass of wine--Slingshot cab for 17/glass--and for two only 130 pre-tip. That's an entree, two very large appetizers (either sufficient for a woman's entree), a large veggie dude, and a seafood entree plus glass of wine. You can't ask for more than that at an upscale Nantucket restaurant. Service great. Our server was sweet. A lobster tagliatelle appetizer just sold out after my friend ordered it so we joked that if we'd decided sooner, it would have been ours. Only quibble: boring blah bread. But who wants to load up on bread with food this good? I loved our dinner. read more

Everything was great except the fact that there was no bread. When asked, they said they stopped serving bread because of COVID ... I'm sorry but how does that make sense?! If COVID is the reason to stop serving bread then why is the restaurant even open? You're serving food and drinks --why not bread? I don't understand. SO GOOD! One, if not the, best meals I've had on the island since arriving 6 weeks ago. The zucchini risotto was out of this world and the Halibut blew me away. The staff is also super nice- they quickly accommodated our table change request and our waitress was great. They also seem to have more availability than other restaurants on the island and can be booked on Resy which is super convenient as well. I highly recommend! read more
