While working the area I looked up what was good in the area, I was not let down. The food! All the food is sooo good! The steamed clams were so good I drank the sauce! The lobster roll was perfect. Classic and delicious. The clam chowder was what I expected a yummy clam chowder to be. And the one thing that is the least on the plate, the French fries, are perfect. Crisp outer shell and warm soft insides. It's a food truck. So you're eating outside. Fortunately for us it was an absolutely perfect day. It's good to note, because it's a food truck, there is no bathrooms. There is a porta potty. Parking can be a little tough, but there are lots around the area. After eating, walk the park across the street and take in the beautiful views of Rhode Island. read more

If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. We were visiting family and don't have a great place near us to get HOT lobster rolls. We chose Dune's based on the great Yelp reviews and loved it so much...we went twice in two days. The lobster roll is a special and while it isn't cheap, it does seem like everything is made to order - even the fries. Both the roll and fries are perfectly seasoned. It's outdoor seating only and on Saturday it was extremely busy. The staff did tell customers it would be a 30 minute wait for food but that didn't seem to scare anyone off. Also be sure to listen for your order to be called..they don't like the food sitting on the counter for very long! We will definitely be back! read more

It was my first time trying lobster roll and I was in town and saw really good reviews to this place. Drove 25 min there and really likes the outside seating and friendly environment. We ordered the lobster roll that was $36. The meat was really delicious but the bread ended up being soggy. Clam chowder was a little disappointing because it was salty but it was good dipped in the fried clam balls. Their tartar sauce is also very fresh and yummy as well. Fries were not very fresh and seemed stale. Overall very delicious but super expensive. read more

Just to preface, if they tell you the wait is 30 minutes, tack on an extra 15 minutes. When we ordered, they told us it would be 25-30 minutes, but it ended up being about 45-50. Not a huge deal, but we were on a little bit of a time crunch. It ended up being fine, as we ate in the car, but just something to note if you're in a bigger time crunch. The portion sizes here are huge! We had a fish and chips between the three of us and it was so much food. The fried fish was really fresh, very flakey, and tasted great with their tartar sauce. I love that the batter isn't super thick. read more

Found this place 1/2 mile walk from our hotel in downtown Providence after having a hankering for local seafood. Wow! Just wow! Huge portions of the freshest fish around. The fish sandwich was so big, the hearty roll could barely contain it. The single piece of pollock on the fish and chips hung over the side of the traditional paper boat with beef tallow fried Old Bay fries below. We also ordered a 3 piece clam cake. Each of them were almost the size of a baseball. They have daily specials with lobster and crab rolls depending upon what's in season. The ambiance is a clam shack with picnic tables and crushed clam shells beneath. Head on down to the Dune. It's worth it! read more

Cute ambiance and window service. The fries were amazing and the lobster roll was amazing. The crab cakes were not good in my opinion and had an odd taste (almost like soap as weird as that sounds). The clam chowder was really good. All their fried food is fried in beef tallow which gave it great flavor. read more

The lobster roll was awesome and the staff was very friendly. I talked to the chef about this being my first time having a lobster roll and he gave me advice on other places to try so I could experience other types of lobster rolls. The old bay fries were also really good too! read more

Outdoor seating on picnic tables with umbrella. Very nice to be outdoors and very busy! The food is great and the portions are huge. Had I known before we came we would've split the fish sandwich since it's literally so big you can't open your mouth wide enough to take a bite. The fish very crispy, flaky, and fresh! I especially loved the cheese chip on top! So the prices are very much worth it! The thing I did not like AT all was the lime zest in the clam cakes! In my opinion it doesn't go well and completely ruined an otherwise delicious treat. They were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside just like I like them but LIME zest? They were extra large though! Don't get me wrong, I enjoy lime but in Mexican cuisine or a margarita, imo it doesn't belong in a clam cake, especially a New England style clam cake. Note the menu said they add lemon zest but it was definitely not lemon, it was lime! Completely ruined it and I literally had to douse it with vinegar more than usual to cover the taste. Only could bring myself to choke down one! We will be back, just not for the clam cakes. read more

Not sure if im reviewing the one in downtown providence or the other but im sure they're both amazing. The best lobster roll I had my whole trip. I just wish the "chips" in the meal were fries and not actual chips lol. I was a little taken aback by that. The clam cakes were to die for. Very new for me. Relaxing atmosphere, big fish sandwich, local soda on offer! Be careful that the fish came out piping hot! I love the crust, no complaint about the freshness of the fish. The sandwich as a whole, however, is probably not my cup of tea. I think it tastes slightly bitter, perhaps from a combination of pickles, slaw, and fried crust. Another thing is that the fish while fresh, is itself not very remarkable in itself ( I don't recall the fish being used that day. Also, a non-complaint, but sandwiches and burgers in general have become so big. I love to taste the delicate texture of the fish so was reluctant to squish the whole sandwich. read more

This review is for the Track 15 location, but have eaten the fish sandwich at the Downcity location as well. It is delicious, but the bun is too small, too soggy, and the small plate it was served on was not big enough to hold the contents as they spilled out on the table. I would welcome a serious bun (Portuguese roll?), or a smaller portion, and lower price on the existing one! read more

We were in town from Las Vegas NV and we heard about the lobster rolls for dinner. So we both ordered one each and they blew our socks right off!!! We do a lot travel and even go on luxury cruises....we simply have never had them this good. Most places use filler or mayonnaise. This was pure lobster. 15********* stars! read more

Super flavorful and fresh seafood! The roasted scup was soft, flaky, and tasted so fresh. It was served over a bed of romesco, cauliflower, chickpea, and lemon, which was amazing itself. The clam chowder was one of the best I've had! The clam cakes were an amazing pairing dipped in the chowder (soft on the inside with a crispy golden exterior), and the tartar sauce was also so good. Takeout counter service with outdoor bench seating with umbrellas. Super cute location with views of the park! Very popular--there was a line for lunch on a weekday, but the workers were efficient. read more

I had heard a lot about Dune Brothers so made it a point to stop here on my trip up north. This place is all outside and it gets busy- there's competition for the picnic tables, especially when its raining outside. I had heard a lot about their amazing fish and chips and clam cakes but was disappointed to find that they fry everything in beef tallow (I am pescatarian). I also thought about the clam chowder but that also had ham in it. Ended up having a poke bowl, which was good but obviously was not what I had envisioned for lunch. Wouldn't recommend this place for pescatarians and hope that they realize one day that frying their food in beef tallow is very limiting for a lot of customers so that I can come back and actually try their fish and chips. read more

Dune brother's has amazing lobster rolls (better than some places in Boston)! I think their prices are pretty fair, considering how big the portions actually are when fries are included (which are also delicious). We also got the fish and chips for the first time here, which was a huge portion and very worth the price. read more

Tucked away in downtown Providence near a hotel is where you can grab the best seafood the area has to offer. I made sure to grab them on the second to last day of the season. I love the ambiance, it's similar to a crushed clam shack, has crushed clam shells beneath a bunch of outdoor picnic tables. Depending on the day they sometimes have live music as well. Now to the food! I love the Cape Shark, I cannot get that in CT so I am partial to it, but it's likely the best fish I've ever had. The fish is perfectly fried. It's beer battered and beef fat fried to perfection, served with old bay fries. Price can be steep when it comes to seafood but the quantity you receive is well worth it, we got 4 nicely sized pieces of shark. In addition we split some clam fritters, always a hit. They have orders of 3 and 6, but they are big size so 3 is more than enough. My wife also got the Dune Dog this time and enjoyed it. A hot dog fried with chow chow, curry ketchup aioli and some crispy shallots. I love this place, can't wait until they open again next season. read more

Not closed as the Yelp suggests. I am sitting here as I write this. Incredibly good. Best white chowder I've had in my life, and top 5 fish and chips (pollock). The fish and chips is one large fillet, very crunchy breading. It seems pricey for an outdoor counter serve "shack" but the prices are well worth the quality imo. read more

The lobster roll here is good. Lots of meat - juicy and flavorful. Though it's 36$, it's worth it. Tip: if you're getting it to go, have them put the lobster separately so the bread doesn't get soggy. It gets pretty busy on the weekends. Just wish the service would be a tad bit faster. read more

For my last meal in Rhode Island, I decided to go all in (or all out), and get myself an entire seafood feast. Even though I will be back in New England in the next 3 months, I hoped I would finish on a high note with the $80-something total I paid for all this. It sadly was not worth it. A breakdown of this seafood extravaganza. Lobster roll: This will most likely be my last lobster roll until I get to Maine in October. It is a good one. Hot drawn butter, old bay mayo, some dill, on a split top bun. Lots of succulent lobster meat, good flavor, everything about it was good. Chowder: I got the large as it comes with fries and 3 clam cakes. The chowder is terrific. Clams in almost every spoonful, good chunky potatoes, great flavor. I got the clear one as that is Rhode Island style. Put this in a boot and I would still eat it. Then everything went downhill. Clam cakes: Too scallion for my liking. The clam inside is like finding the baby in a king cake, and once you get it, it is pretty good. However, these were a bit bland. It was like eating a dry pancake meets a hush puppy without the enriched flavor. I only ate one before I stopped eating these. Crab roll: This was the worst of them all. Way too dense, very heavy on the mayonnaise, and too many pieces of claw that I had to spit out. I ate this as a salad rather than a roll because of the hard pieces I came across. I should have ordered two lobster rolls. It seems I never learn my lesson. Stick with crab cakes from now on. Fries: Good old bay flavor, definitely fresh fries. However, this is not Baltimore. The flavor comes through a bit too hard without much to back it up. The potatoes seem a bit starchy as you get towards the bottom, meaning they let them sit in the fryer a bit too long. -- Oh well. At least I have a few months to prepare for my next seafood feast a few states further up north. read more

I ate at the riverside location a few days ago. Great location, but the food was disappointing. I had white chowder and steamers. The chowder tasted only of uncooked flour. The steamers were overcooked and swimming in grease. Both dishes were unpleasant to eat and inconsistent with the quality reported in other reviews. read more

Excellent clam cakes and huge , need more minced clams in them . Got the clam cake combo. White chowder ok, potatoes had skin on them and large pieces. I prefer diced smaller potatoes with no skin. Creamy , but needed butter and a bacon kick or something; but worked for my dipping clam cakes. A guy asked for glass of ice water, told first no ice and can give tap water... then another guy says their water isn't filtered so they don't give it out but he can buy bottled water... well now I'm wondering if water in my chowder was also unfiltered water? Sounds fishy... pardon the pun. Didn't see scallops as offering . Lobster roll price .... Wow.. I passed on that as on way to Newport other fish spots. read more

I absolutely loved the Dune Brothers. I visited the East Providence location and it was so nice. I got the fish sandwich, which was HUGE and full of flavor, the fries were perfectly seasoned and fluffy, and the lobster roll was stuffed and so buttery. Totally worth the price. Everything was perfect and came out pretty quickly! read more

The restaurant is absolutely beautiful both inside and out, and the atmosphere really sets the tone for a great dining experience. The menu also looked fantastic with a lot of appealing options. I ended up ordering the baked shrimp, which came with seasoned potatoes and string beans. Unfortunately, the dish didn't quite meet expectations. The potatoes were described as seasoned, but leaned more toward a Cajun-style flavor, which wasn't what I was expecting. The string beans were also quite undercooked. For a $29 dish at a fine dining restaurant, I was hoping for a more polished meal. That said, the service was good, and the ambiance truly stands out as a highlight. Overall, I left feeling a bit underwhelmed by the food, but I would consider giving it another try if I'm back in town, as the setting alone makes it worth revisiting.

Even though the smothered versions aren't quite as healthy, the toppings helped add some needed flavor. The light and airy risen puff cake by itself is a bit plain just like a regular plain pancake would be and just need a little something to add some flavor; even if it's just some maple syrup. I will add that the custard and chocolate topping by themselves were really tasty. All in all it was a wonderful experience that I look forward to trying again in the future!
