Amazing dumplings and service. We were seated right away and the pricing wasn't that bad. We will definitely be returning in the future!

Don't know if I was very impressed by the food here given the prices; other "dumpling" spots compare pretty equally or are better like Dynasty Dumpling. The menu selection is quite small. My favorite item was the chili oil wontons and cream custard buns! I'd pass on the cucumber salad next time. Service was very nice! read more

Yum, a very cute and cozy establishment tucked away in the Castro. We got the prawn and leek dumplings that were cooked to perfection as well as the Hong Kong style wonton noodle soup which is pretty difficult to do well - but they managed it great and it was the perfect thing to eat on a rainy SF day. Looking forward to trying their other dumpling dishes! read more

Came here with a group of 5 for dinner on Sunday, and though it was packed, we were promptly seated. You can view the menu and order dishes by scanning the qr code on the table. They have quite the selection of dumplings and appetizers. For that evening, we tried the soup dumplings, fried chicken wings, garlic green beans, chili oil in wonton, scallion pancake, and potstickers. The chicken wings and garlic green beans were all solid dishes and would recommend. The truffle soup dumpling was more flavorful than the regular one but also more expensive. The wonton and potstickers we got were alright. The service was also speedy, and the waiters were attentive. Honestly, I felt that the menu was a bit pricey, and I left not feeling full. But I would recommend this spot if you're looking for a nice restaurant to snack and chat! read more

I really love this family run business. The dumplings are made to order, and the staff is friendly & helpful, will take the time to help you order if you can't deal with the QR code ordering system. Love love love the Crystal Shrimp Dumplings. Other favs are the chili oil wontons and the cucumber salad. Actually, anything with chili oil is delicious. There's sriracha & soy sauce on the table. Beware, they close for lunch, except for the weekend, so mind their hours. On a nice day I do takeout & eat in nearby Dolores Park. read more

Dumpling House - The damages for 2 - Dim Sum Near Me - San Francisco, California

Was craving some soup dumplings on a cold day and found this spot on Yelp. I was excited to try the food but it wasn't as good as I was expecting it to be. The wontons in chili sauce was the best dish that we ordered. It was really flavorful but wasn't that spicy so I was a bit disappointed. The xiao long bao was just okay, the meat didn't have a ton of flavor and neither did the soup. Seafood dumpling was good the shrimp was very snappy and the pan fried buns were decent as well. Overall this restaurant will help you satisfy the Chinese food craving but I wouldn't really come here for dimsum or soup dumplings next time. Service is also on the slower side and the restaurant was pretty empty when we came in. read more

I chose to eat here on a whim but it actually ended up being sooooo good ! I came here with three others and ordering was super easy, especially with the nice service. I loved the way the place looked too. Very cute. We order a couple of dishes and I would say overall they were a 8.5/10. An exception would be the soup dumplings at a 7/10. read more

This place was cute & small. We went a bit ahead of dinner hour and were seated immediately, but things definitely filled up quick as we progressed into the evening. Everything here was really tasty and felt freshly made. I was a particular fan of the deep fried meat dumpling. Definitely would recommend & will be back with friends to try more items on the menu! read more

Excessive wait time, workers are not acknowledging the people that are standing right next to their cashier

I ordered the wonton soup, the chili cucumber appetizer, the combo dumplings and the shrimp and leek dumplings. The wonton soup tasted like straight up plain water. The broth had no flavor. The rest of the dumplings weren't anything I'd come back for. The best thing was the chili cucumber appetizer, packed with flavor and very tasty. read more

We came here for the first time today and were quite impressed! The dumplings are excellent, the service was great, and the space is modern and inviting. Our family of 4 adults and 1 child shared the following: 1) Crystal shrimp dumplings (har gow) - delicious 2) Shrimp and leek dumplings - great; my daughter's favorite 3) Chili wonton - very flavorful 4) XLB - great 5) Spicy XLB - also very good 6) Crab XLB - fresh and flavorful 7) Chicken and corn dumplings - fine, but probably our least favorite 8) Green beans - tasty The service was great. While they have online ordering via QR code, we appreciated that they also had paper menus and in person ordering as an option. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. The space was a good size, well-decorated, and pleasant. The bathrooms were clean and well-stocked with toilet paper. We are truly glad to have discovered this spot and look forward to returning! read more

Absolutely, undeniably fire! Just ask your waiter what is popular and trust them! There is a line, but it moves quickly and whether you are inside or out, the vibe is good and you'll be taken care of. You might want to go right when it opens to mitigate the wait time, but you will leave happy and full. This was the best meal I had on my recent trip to San Francisco and I took the leftovers to the airport and it was PHENOMENAL the second day! If I visit SF again, I'll definitely be back! read more

Fantastic dumplings of all kinds, Including vegetarian. Our favorites are the shrimp and leek, and basically all the other shrimp ones! There is an excellent spinach and leek one too! Ambience is cozy and contemporary with perhaps a dozen tables. Service is fantastic and the dumplings come out very quickly! Spoiler alert: They recently started using an online reservation service that sometimes works and sometimes doesn't... So...If you don't feel like standing out in front for 20+ minutes, maybe give them a call! read more

I came here for lunch with a friend. I liked the food and would come back. You order your food from your phone which I personally liked but you pay out with the server. I really liked the garlic green beans, Hong Kong wonton soup and custard buns. I was hoping the sesame buns were better than they were. Everything was around $10 and for 6 items between us it was $62 for lunch. Service was quick for lunch but it doesn't seem like a place that gets crazy busy. Not a place good for groups cuz it's a pretty small spot that's a little hidden. read more

My husband and I went to Dumpling House as a last minute decision. I love dumplings and bao and am always looking for new places to try. And Dumpling House did not disappoint. We walked in and were seated quickly. The server brought us water and gave us a quick minute to look over the menu. We ordered the marinated cucumber, scallion pancake, and spring rolls to start. My husband and I agreed the spring rolls were our favorite food item of the entire meal. They were incredibly crunchy but not oily and the sweet and sour sauce was a nice compliment to the dish. We both also enjoyed the marinated cucumber. It was refreshing and kept a nice crunch as well. The scallion pancake was what we expected. I ordered the bbq pork bao and spicy xiao long bao. The pork bao was good and soft. The spicy XLB was good and flavorful. My husband ordered the spinach dumpling and vegetable pot stickers. Both were flavorful and he enjoyed the filling in both. Staff was friendly and the restaurant itself was small but clean and inviting. If you enjoy dumplings and bao, I would definitely recommend this place. read more

I would say Dumpling House has average soup dumplings Palette San Francisco tends to be my go-to, but it was fairly late when I decided to order so I ended up going with this location. Although both the bao and the soup dumplings were delivered warm, right away I could tell the quality of the ingredients was lower. The containers of soy sauce had also opened and gotten all over the dumplings which is a personal pet peeve of mine. I prefer them packaged in their own box. All in all, while I liked the style of bao from Dumpling House, I mainly order for the soup dumplings, and they were so average I just wouldn't go with them again. read more

What an excellent choice by my dining partner. Anthony, not so much a yelper, knew the 4.5 out of 5 stars would impress me. Lol. We were BOTH pleasantly impressed at the variety and quality of the food as well as the cute space of this eatery. While portions are not so big, the good prices offset that. I prefer it this way so we could try a variety of items! The lunch special is definitely the way to go here. For only $14.95 you get a full size of dumplings of your choice (from a limited menu), an Appetizer, and a iced or hot tea. We got two lunch specials trying: Scallion pancakes - 4.5/5 thinner than most, made for a tasty, crispy treat, Eggrolls - 4/5 perfectly crispy and delicious, Spinach dumplings - 5/5 undescribably delicious! Spinach is the wrap. Filling is mushrooms and veges, Pork and cabbage dumplings - 4/5 smaller than most yet a generous portion, Added on an order of crab XLB - 4.5/5 juicy, flavorful, served with high quality black vinegar and shredded ginger. Return and repeat! In fact, Anthony is already planning his return with his significant other soon! Located in the Castro District on Noe Street where parking is metered or free on the street. Just 1.5 blocks away from Hot Cookies...another must stop while in the area...but that is for another mention! Thank you Anthony and Dumpling House for delicious meal and memorable time. read more

I'm going to be completely honest.. coming here was an accident because there is a Dumping HOUSE and a Dumpling HOME both in SF! Both also not too far from each other. welp, not surprising I got them mixed up BUT honestly pt2 I'm glad I did. Already seated until I realized it was the wrong restaurant when looking at the menu. Could have left but didn't because "what if" this spot is good.. Surprise!! the food was really good! Would recommend and will come back. Ordering will be through a QR code and they will bring the food to your table. Sometimes I like this method so you do not need to flag anyone down, just order whenever you're ready. I'm not sure if this is the only option when dining in, this is just based on my first visit. Fresh Pork and Shrimp Shumai - good Leek with Shrimp dumplings - one of my favorites here!! Started with 3 pieces then had to order a second round and chose 8 pieces. The 8 pieces were made differently than the three pieces. 8 pieces seemed a little smaller and I liked the chewy texture dumpling wrapper from the 3 pieces but that's just my opinion. Filing was delicious regardless Wonton with Chili Sauce - this is noted as "spicy" but it was not even close to spicy. I thought these were okay, the wontons were good but the chili sauce could be better. & last but not least!! XLB!! (Xiao Long Bao aka Soup Dumplings!) These were amazing and the amount of soup in each one.. wow. -Pork XLB - good -Black Truffle XLB omg what a game changer!!! by far the tastiest XLB I've ever eaten. Nice earthy taste, delicious. Enjoyed this spot so much, can't wait to come back and try the rest of their menu plus get more Black Truffle XLB! read more

I absolutely loved everything we tried! We ordered the pork and corn dumplings, fresh shrimp and leek dumplings and the Noodles with Pork in Fried Bean Paste. They stuff the dumplings with a lot of meat, despite it looking so small. I would come back again to try new things! read more

I arrived on a holiday weekend and checked in via Yelp ahead of time for a party of 6. I was surprised there wasn't a long wait! | i n t e r i o r | The restaurant interior was quite small so we had to wait for a group to leave since there was only 1 table that could accommodate a party as large as ours. | f o o d | You order by scanning a QR code which was really convenient. Multiple people can participate and add to the table's order too. Most dishes were traditional ones that you'd find at the dim sum restaurant. Here's everything we ordered: original XLB, shu mai, shrimp ha gow, pork w/ cabbage dumplings, turnip cake, pan-fried veggie & meat buns, and garlic green beans. My top 3 would have to be: 1. Shrimp Ha Gow (crystal shrimp dumpling): amazingly one of the best ha gow I've had so far?! The dumpling skin was chewy and thin unlike most places. 2. Shu Mai (fresh shrimp w/ pork dumplings): so savory - YUM 3. Pork w/ Cabbage Dumplings: yes they're basic boiled dumplings, but the texture and flavor of the CABBAGE really made it for me. | t l ; d r | Great option if you're looking for pretty decent sit-down dim sum! You won't get the true experience of the ladies with their carts, but the food is pretty good. read more

Drove 3 hours to try this amazing restaurant! It's so delicious that I've been thinking about it since we left! I just stop in SF!

I decided to try Dumpling House after seeing its 4.5 star rating and hearing several positive remarks. My friends and I arrived with fairly high expectations -- unfortunately, the experience was anything but impressive. The food was okay, but the service was genuinely awful. Our server acted like we were complete idiots for asking which dishes contained pork (one of us is vegetarian -- a perfectly reasonable question). We ordered everything online through our phone as well, so her only actual responsibilities were dropping off the food and handing us napkins -- yet somehow she still managed to be rude and cold every interaction we had. Normally I tip at least 20% to all service people. But after the couple interactions I did have with our waiter I decided against. She did not take our order, was incredibly rude with the couple interactions we did have, and only checked up on us a couple times in the two hours we were there. But that's not the worst part. She demanded a tip. She literally walked up to our table and pressured us after giving us attitude all night. I usually tip 20% without hesitation, but expecting a tip after multiple rude interactions and zero real service is beyond me. I'm not one to write reviews or give feedback, but management at this establishment should be aware because this behavior is unacceptable. read more

Another great dumpling restaurant for dumpling lovers. Came in on a sunday night for 5 and only had to wait a few minutes in line. The service is somewhat self serve as you scan a qr code and order for the table and pay. The food is pretty good. Probably one of the better xiao long bao places you can get. They are piping hot and have a generous amount of soup in them. The pork and cabbage is a tried and true winner. The truffle ones are good too if you like that umami truffle flavor. Wonton chili is a good one as well with a good balance of salt and spice and maybe a little sweetness too? The servers are all nice and will interact with you despite self service. The atmosphere is pretty casual and can vary from loud to quiet depending on the time. It feels really comfy inside. The pricing is reasonable and I would recommend coming here to check out. read more

I feel like the creativity of dumpling restaurant names in SF is very confusing, there's too many dumpling houses, homes, apartments and what have you that it's hard to tell if they're owned by the same people. The xlb were like gushers for sure! The Siu Mai were alright. All we had were dumplings, so I'm not sure how their noodle dishes are, but I'm sure they're pretty good too.
