We couldn't stop eating these. * Vegetable pot stickers (4/5) - great texture of diced veggies, probably mushrooms and not sure what all else. Would order these again. * Spring rolls (5/5) - perfectly fried rolls of tender veggies with a nice crunch on the outside. No oily flavor or feel to them like some egg rolls get. These are very hot so be careful biting into them. * Wonton w/chili sauce (5/5) - our favorite dish. Not very spicy but perfectly seasoned sauce over tender wontons with just the right amount of pork inside. It's not a large serving but could be enough for two with other items. We shared it but probably each could have eaten an order of it... it was that good. * Xiao long bao, original (3/5) - these were decent but didn't have a lot of flavor on their own. They needed the soy/vinegar sauce for sure and a little chili paste on top. Dimsum might be my favorite food in the world, so I have pretty high standards for it; Dumpling House delivered! We were impatient for our food to come out, but once it did, we loved everything we got! The wontons in chili oil were so good. The skin was a perfect texture, and the filling felt fresh and flavorful in the sauce. The spicy XLB were the right amount of spicy, and the skin was on the thicker and chewier side. The pan fried bao are probably one of my favorites in SF, with just enough contrast in chewy and crispy texture and a delicious piping hot soup. The shumai were flavorful as well. As you can see from the photos, the food was so good I only remembered to snap a picture after a couple dumplings were eaten. The ambiance is nice and calm. The service was considerate and friendly. Food was delicious with the exception of the black bean pork noodles it needed a lot more flavor so I wouldn't order that again but everything else was delicious. Xl spicy pork dumplings, the fried chicken wings had a nice crust very crunchy without sacrificing the tenderness of the chicken. Very juicy and flavorful. Cucumber was delicious just the perfect amount of sour and spicy flavor. The wontons in chili sauce also comes with great flavor you can't go wrong with these! Bbq pork buns had great flavor and in comparison this places fills them more than other restaurants. Now I will say my dining in experience wasn't great because of the music. Servers stayed busy and brought things out quickly which is great but it came down to the music for me. Now if it's suppose to be a club/ strip club environment then I'd understand. But I really was so confused on how the music playing was so explicit here a lot of tables were looking at each other in disbelief but I think we all agreed the servers were too busy to request the music change. Came to get a few dumplings in the Castro. Dumpling House has quite a few. It's a pretty cozy type of place. Good variety even with a small menu. The prices are okay considering the big sizes. At dinner it was time for dumplings. It's one of the many places to get these around here. There's other stuff on the menu but forget about that. Get what they're known for. It's about $8 for a serving. I suggested we get the Spinach Dumplings. These were green. Inside were black fungus, carrots, celery, corn, and water chestnuts. Quite a lot to put in these. Even though they only gave us a few, these were filling. These were soft enough to melt in mouths. For sure could come here to get more dumplings again. It's pretty affordable for a light meal. The interior is cozy and cute as it has a few tables inside, but is a bit small if you have a large group (more than 4+). My friends and I ordered a few things off the list. We got pork & sweet corn dumplings, soup dumplings, deep-fried meat dumplings, bbq pork bun, pepper salt chicken wings, wonton with chili sauce, pan-fried vegetable and meat buns, and mango pudding for dessert. For the dumplings, my favorite would have to be the soup dumplings as the juice was flavorful and not too salty. The pan-fried dumplings were simply delicious with the flavors of meat and vegetables! So the food is made hot and is quickly prepared for you after you mobile order it and I would say that it is pretty good for the area however, there are better places to get dim sum and buns. If you are already in the Castro area, I would say this is a good spot. It's fairly priced and they have two bathrooms and the service is pretty quick. There's nothing really to rave about, but I would say the soup based dumplings are pretty solid hit the other items that are basically dim sum are fair because they were either too thick in the skin or it was just not as satisfying as other places I've been to. read more

C. Jasmine green tea (tea bag form into a cup of hot water. Spring rolls (three pieces with a sweet chili sauce) increase my likelihood of prosperity. The skin of each spring roll was crispy on the outside, with chewy veggies on the inside. Spinach dumplings increase my likelihood of wealth and luck. Seeing these four pieces were like green back dollar bills wrapping up into pouches. Thick green mochi outer layer with peanuts and scallions, splendid! Every dish I consumed, was just right, just like the TV show on a black brick wall that taught us how to make Chinese food. What more should I ask for since I chose the lunch specials? After all, there's nothing I could have on my table for takeout. Maybe I ought to ask for one next time, so I can give it to my family to share. We decided to head here for a late lunch and because I was craving dumplings and this 100% hit the spot! Everything came out hot and was super fresh. We ordered the siu Mai, pan fried dumplings, shrimp dumplings, spicy wontons, shrimp toast, fried chicken wings, vegetable/pork bun. Every thing was super tasty but my favorites were the spicy wontons! They were super juicy and the wonton skin was very thin and silky. It is on the pricier side and averages $2-3 more per dish than I'm used to, but it is dim sum in sf after all haha. My companion and I initially planned to eat somewhere else but with the long wait time we decided to seek elsewhere. A quick search on Yelp led us to Dumpling House. I was able to join the Yelp Waitlist while we were driving over which was perfect since we arrived right when they were ready for us! We came on a Friday night and the restaurant was packed with diners--mainly families and small groups. I recommend joining the waitlist ahead. The restaurant is decently sized and clean, and the staff are attentive. We were checked on periodically and our food came out relatively quickly. You order through the QR code on the table. This allows you to view their dumplings, fried dishes, buns, noodles, and appetizers. We ordered: Crystal Shrimp Dumplings, Fresh Shrimp & Pork Dumplings, Original Xiao Long Bao, and Pan-fried Turnip Cake. Our favorite was the har gow--plump, juicy, and lightly sweet. The pork xiao long baos were a close second the soup was flavorful and warm, the wrapper delicate, and a juicy filling. The siu mai was plump and well filled and the turnip cake was slightly crispy with a subtle turnip taste to it. Between the two of us, we were able to eat almost everything. My companion describes the dim sum at Dumpling House as solid. It tastes as one would expect but doesn't necessarily blow you away. Regardless, it's scrumptious, the workers are friendly, and it's easy to find in the heart of the Castro District with street parking all around. My friend and I came here for dinner and we used Yelp to put us on the waitlist. Turns out there were plenty of seats available around 7 pm on a Sunday night *shrug* There were lots of people picking up for Doordash or takeout though! To order, we scanned a QR code and submitted our order without payment. I ordered the vegetable dumpling, veggie noodle soup, and crushed cucumbers. My friend ordered the minced pork noodles (probably the Chinese version of jjajangmyeon) and dumplings. All of the food came out in about 15-20 min. Both my friend and I were disappointed by the lack of flavor in the veggie soup and pork noodles. Luckily, they had condiments on the side so I doused my soup with chili paste and it made it much better. Weirdly enough the soup was literally just noodles and leafy greens. I guess I expected at least tofu or mushrooms in it, having eaten many veggie soups as a vegetarian. The veggie dumplings were so-so; the filling could be better and more flavorful, but I did like the softer tapioca-based wrapper they used. One dish that was made right was the smashed cucumber salad. Despite that, our server was really nice and she even brought us vinegar with ginger when we noticed it wasn't a part of the condiment selection. My mouth is watering just revisiting these pictures. Great dumpling spot in the Castro that was recommended by a few of my SF native friends. I always like to come and try new dim sum in the city every time I visit, and I think this might have to be one where I go again! Side note: Order tea just because it comes in an adorable glass pot with glass cups. Our group really enjoyed the Pork & Corn dumplings (sounds odd but so good), and the Xiao Long Baos, which were perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor.
