We came from plenty of Chinese food of socal. Dumplings House is the 2nd Chinese restaurant we tried while we stayed in Boston. Service was okay but their food is incredible, a lot better than what we expected! Deserves better reviews on Yelp. Dumpling House is on our to eat list now.

Explosion of flavors... love this so much adding another pic!

Super good meal! Pork and leek dumplings, chicken and cabbage dumplings, spicy beef in wok, and their awesome szechuan dried spicy chicken. And the waitress was efficient and friendly...

The restaurant is very small and can use some updates. The food was disappointing. The only thing we truly enjoyed was the sweet and sour fried flounder. Everything else lacked in flavor or tasted old and odd. We were really hoping to find a good dumpling house outside of Boston. The service was fine. There didn't seem to be much staff. Parking is on site and small and shares with a few other businesses in the plaza.

I've been on a hunt for amazing soup dumplings for a while now. And while these aren't the best I've ever had, they do the trick!! But the udon noodles and shiitake mushrooms stole the show. I will come back just for these. The inside was cozy and pretty empty. Feels like the majority of business was takeout orders but we enjoyed our sit down meal and it was quick and delicious.

Dumpling House is a great hidden gem in a little strip mall on Walnut street in Newton. There was plenty of parking. Restaurant appeared very clean. Staff was friendly. The menu is huge. Mostly authentic Chinese dishes. Not your typical American style Chinese food. The food tasted extremely fresh and full of flavor. I started with a small hot and sour soup with shredded pork. It was large enough for two people. Very traditionally prepared with wood ear mushrooms, golden needles, tofu, pork, scallions. It had a very nice complex flavor with a big kick that would clear out anyone's sinuses. Soup was delicious! My first appetizer was the jellyfish with garlic. This was like a salad with the jellyfish cut in thin strips with a solid but not chewy texture. The dish also had cucumbers, carrots, sesame seeds and plenty of garlic. Delicious! Next I had one of my favorites appetizers. Crispy fried pig intestines! If you have never had this, step outside your box. The outside is crispy with a texture like bacon and the inside is a soft moist delicious pork flavor. This dish is amazing! For my entrée I had to go with the pork and crab soup dumplings. These were full of soup, flavor and makes the whole trip worth it! Soooo good! If you are looking for quality food that's different from the American PuPu platter, check this place out. I can't wait to go back!

This place has amazing dumplings and Chinese food! We had pork soup dumplings, salt and pepper fish, and pork udon noodles. Everything was amazing! The fish was fresh and perfectly fried in a light batter, then tossed in scallions. spicy seasons and garlic, which makes it very flavorful. It comes on top of lettuce. Which you eat together for amazing textures. The udon noodles were good, with shredded pork and cabbage with a nice soy flavor. One of my favorite foods is soup dumplings! It always intrigues me how the hot soup and meat filling stays in the soft thin dumpling skin until you bite into it. This place does it perfectly! I talked to the really nice owner and he says that they make it fresh every day and you can really tell by its exceptional quality. We are so glad that we came here and look forward to coming back next time we are in MA.

We came for a family dinner and of course Grandma Ding was with us in her wheelchair. We only smashed into a few chairs in the big, crowded dining room. And fortunately other customers were understanding while the staff was helpful and accommodating. The small, curious child running around the dining room without parental supervision didn't get hurt when I ran him over. The menu was huge so it took a long time to order with Grandma asking questions about every item. I could see that the waitstaff was used to quick orders and rapid food delivery to the table, but the waiter remained kind and patient. He also repeated his answers loudly when she couldn't understand his English and because she didn't have her hearing aides turned up. We finally ordered a giant wonton soup, eggplant with garlic sauce, a shrimp dish, and orange chicken; all to share. Everything was fresh, hot, tasty and delicious. Grandma Ding did have to ask for the soup to be heated up because she likes it to be scalding. The dining room is worn and dishes were flying in and out as items were served and cleared. It's definitely a place for family meals, not one for an engagement proposal or romance. Perfect for our evening. Portions are generous and prices competitive with other restaurants in the area. Parking on the street is the only difficulty, particularly when you have a nonagenarian to get into the restaurant. We will definitely be back.

It has the amazing smoky wok flavor. -Surf clam on vermicelli: so fresh, so delicious. I will definitely be coming back to try more of their dishes. The service was great, super fast and attentive. The restaurant was clean and bright.

I could not stomach any of their food. 4 crab Rangoon with little to no filling, 2 extremely fatty poor quality chicken teriyaki sticks and 1 egg roll for $17 on a bed of rice that tasted so old. I remember their Mala spicy pot being decent (however not as good as the spots I visit in Cambridge and Allston-Brighton) but gets the job done, there were many shrimp heads but where's the rest of the shrimp? Super expensive for small portions, old beef slices and old shrimp, had a bad smell so I tossed $50 worth of food. I woke up extremely sick this morning from the food, never again.

We knew that there is a couple of few Asian places in the area so we stumble upon this one. It turns out that it was a new Taiwanese place nice bar some TVs and overall clean. We tried the Taiwanese dumplings, which I thought were very good savory packed with meat and fried perfectly. Try the braised pork belly. It was a slightly sweeter sauce, but cooked right. Then we got the slice fish salt and pepper. Overall good experience for traditional Taiwanese food in the area.

Limited Street Parking…read more The food made up for the wait time but it was very long. This place was packed, we came in no reservation and the wait time they told us just kept getting longer. We eventually were able to get in, there is a small space to wait with snacks though. Once our table was almost ready the host allowed us to order and once sat it came almost right away. We ordered the la-xi chicken with less spice, this has small crispy chicken pieces and lot of peppers, had to go in and pick out the little pieces. Truthfully wish it was less pepper and more chicken especially $23.95. The mapo tofu was delicious the perfect numbing sensation that I love. A must try dish was the fish fillet with crispy rice. This was $34 but it is perfect for cold day. They bring this dish out pour the soup on top and let it boil until the crispy gets cooked. We got the green beans as well, pretty standard nothing special. We got a little discount as well, I think for a late night special. Disappointing Service & Poor Seating Arrangement…read more Extremely disappointed with our experience here. I made a reservation for 6 people One Month in advance (in fact, today is my birthday) expecting a comfortable dining setup for my group. However, upon arrival, we were squeezed into a table clearly designed for 4 people. When we pointed this out, the staff insisted it was a '6-person table' and refused to move us to the larger tables available, claiming those were reserved for 7-8 people. This is inconsistent and unprofessional, as we have been seated at those larger tables with a group of 6 before. What's the point of making a reservation so far in advance if the restaurant can't provide adequate seating? The lack of flexibility and the dismissive attitude of the staff ruined our evening. For a place like Mountain House, I expected much better service. Will not be coming back anytime soon."

In fact, ever since the other Chinese spot changed ownership, I entirely switched to eating here whenever I want a quick sit down Chinese meal. The food is good. It comes out pretty fast. Even being a regular, I'm still amused at how the service is so stereotypical Chinese in the way that I'm just another soul coming in to be fed and not remembered or acknowledged. Mind you, I'm here a LOT and am usually the only one sitting there eating while delivery people repeatedly come and go. Anyways, two reasons why I'm unable to give them 5 stars. First, the tap water they serve...tastes like @#$%. I don't know what it is but I've actually started bringing my own water bottle (or just ordered a soda). Two, the steamed rice is inconsistent. Half the time, it's perfect. The other half...is wet and mushy (I want to say a reheat but isn't that just such a faux pax in Chinese cuisine?). Nonetheless, this is one of the few four and less starred places on my list that I will still continue to frequent and recommend to anyone in the area wanting a quick and decent meal for cheap!
