Wonderfully authentic. Our go to family restaurant. The best in the greater Boston area. Twice cooked pork rocks. Be prepared to wait for your food. read more

Really really great food at a great price! Unfortunately, service is below average. Visited the place when it was quiet and mostly empty, so I can't complain about waiting very long for our dishes. We really enjoyed the spicy fried tofu which was very silky on the inside and crisp on the outside, as well as the soup, pork/cabbage dumplings and fried rice. Everything was very well-seasoned. Recommended whether you are looking for a quick or lengthy meal either with one or several other people. read more

My fiancee and I came here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon around 12:30 pm. We ordered the vegetarian bun with mushrooms, the spinach dumplings (steamed), the beef and celery dumplings (steamed), and mapo tofu. Everything was really good, and the mapo tofu was delicious! Everything is reasonably priced too, for a total bill of $34. We will definitely be coming back. read more

The food here is very good. I've had the soup dumplings, general Gau's chicken and the pan fried noodles with chicken. I would recommend this place for the food, but get it to go.....I walked in without greeting until I said something to the host/hostess who just stared at me. I was seated and didn't have anyone approach me until I was gruffly asked what I wanted to order. I was never asked if I wanted a drink, I had to stop a waitress to get one. I was never checked on the entire time I was sitting in the restaurant and had to stop a waitress again to get my check. And then was told there is a $20 minimum on credit cards. So everyone who buys lunch must have cash apparently. Not sure what would have happened if I didn't happen to have cash. read more

Soups dumplings amazing as are other dumplings. Food is hit or miss as it is not always clear what dishes are, even when you ask . service was a challenge. Our waiter went outside to clean the outside windows, literally outside where we we're eating looking at dirty paper towels while we were seated and other staff were cleaning chairs and the floors while we were eating. Had to ask several different people just to get service. Dumplings are worth it but a disappointing experience. read more

I will add my positive vote to the chorus here. We have eaten here multiple times and enjoyed it each time. We always get the mini soup dumplings and the scallion pancakes. The small bowl of hot and sour soup was a very generous portion. Lots of stuff on the menu we have not tried. We will be back again. Sometimes there is a line, but we have never felt discouraged by the length of the wait. read more

The simple vegetarian dishes are bland and disappointing. I've had ma po tofu, broccoli and garlic, and salt and pepper tofu. All tastes only of salt and oil. The s&p tofu was chunks of soft tofu fried in a thin batter and served with a thick salty sauce. The lettuce on the plate had more flavor and I'm not even kidding. Maybe the house specialities are more satisfying but there wasn't enough information on the menu to sway me or convince me that they were vegetarian. read more

Payed 17 bucks for a seafood and veggie plate, portions were tiny and tasted like chit. For that price I could have gotten a really nice sushi roll. I would give this a zero if I could. read more

I've eaten here 2x and likely will not return. Last night sealed the deal. First of all, the wait staff barely looks at you and spends almost no time taking (or fixing when they get it wrong) your order. We ordered dumplings - which were good and cooked perfectly but delivered to the table after our main dish was served (maybe to turn over the table faster?). We ordered 3 Cup Chicken and brown rice (she repeated back to us "brown rice?). We were warned the chicken was on bone. The dish came with white rice that another wait staff replaced with brown. The chicken I found to be almost entirely bone with small pieces of bone (like the bone splinters you wouldn't want your dog to eat) in the sauce. After loading my plate 1/2 full of bone and almost no chicken, I decided I couldn't eat it (wrestle with it) anymore. Our wait staff was nowhere to be found, but a kind host (the only reason this isn't rated 1) saw my discomfort and attempt to get staff attention. I have to say, he took care of us immediately and we ordered another dish, no problem. And the bill came through correctly. The MaPo Tofu we ordered was ok. With no time to sit, the check was at our table and we were shuttled out the door to make room for the growing line. No reason to ever go again! read more

I love Dumpling House to a sometimes unhealthy amount (I've been known to go 4 times in one week). Although at times, it can be a bit oily.

Best Chinese in Cambridge area. Rice cakes with pork, wok chicken and soup dumplings are all always excellent choices.

The Chinese food here is non authentic, very greasy and it really seems they microwave the food and just give it to you. The service at this place is worse than their food. They are quite rude and they seem to get annoyed even when just asked for a spoon. We had ordered 2 rice dishes, 2 mains and 1 dumpling. The rice came first and we had to stare at the rice for around 10 mins coz there were no mains. The dumpling appetisers came almost at the end of our meal. The servers there don't like to be asked or bothered with any question, they just make a face which makes you feel "sorry for asking". I won't suggest this place to anyone and even Panda Express will be a much better food experience then this one. read more

Really is 4.5 stars but I will round up. I have been here about 4 times since it recently opened and it is my new favorite place for chinese food in cambridge. Not that there was really that much competition, but this place blows everything else in cambridge out of the water. I have yet to try something that I don't like. As a plus, the food is the least greasy, which if you're not chinese, is the quickest way to tell if you're eating something authentic or not. The only other place to get food like this is in Allston, but this saves me the trip and it makes the gf super happy (she would give this place 6 stars). My only quibble is with the service, but since they're still figuring stuff out i'll let it slide a little. One night I was there I witnessed 3 collisions between servers XD. I'm sure everyone who works there will calm down in good time. read more

can someone post the website of this restaurant then I can be able to order their food. Too lazy to go outside..... Thx!

All I can speak to are the xiao long bao (soup dumplings) which were amazing. We had an order of pork and crab and just pork. The pork and crab are better. I have had soup dumplings all over Asia and Joe's Shanghai in NYC. These are really amazing for Boston. read more

Delicious food, great service. Can't wait to go again! Get the wontons in chili oil- it is delicious!!!!

I have rarely eaten such a dependably delicious dish as their sezchuan sliced fish. I love their other food as well and have rarely had a less than tasty dish. It is often very crowded, so plan to arrive on the early side. read more

Great place, everything was fairly cheap and delicious. The juicy pork buns are EVERYTHING- I would eat 20 if I could. There are things to complain about, though, the seating is definitely a bit weird, there's one long table and then a few other tables around it, but my friends and I were seated at the long table and we were directly next to another group. It was fine, but a little awkward to talk to each other with other people so close, especially because we could hear everything they were saying. Another thing, the place is small so though the staff were very attentive, they were also very close. For about half our meal, one waitress just stood at the head of the table and stared at everyone. But besides the slight awkwardness, the food was great. read more

We had the most wonderful and flavorful lunch while visiting Cambridge from Seattle. We enjoyed the pork soup dumplings, seafood dumplings, Asian broccoli with garlic, and pork with shredded potato. Based on how great these dishes were, I strongly believe everything would be exquisitely crafted here at the dumpling house. read more

This place is incredible! We went there several weeks ago and tried a little of everything. There wasn't one dish we didn't like. The service was a bit impersonal, but I really couldn't care less when the food is this good! read more

Soup dumplings are the best! Right across from my office building, it's great for take out and eating in.

Love their soup dumplings! Their other dishes are great too. The restaurant is clean and well decorated.

I think I've walked by this place a million times. It was hopping on a Sunday early afternoon. We enjoyed the scallion pancakes as recommended by others, and the waiter's favorite pork soup dumplings. Then we had the small (massive) bowl of schezwan fish. Totally enjoyable despite having to sit in the "back". read more

Best Chinese food around (although I've only been to their location in Cambridge). Varied menu; efficient, friendly wait-staff; reasonable prices; food that's fresher than other Chinese restaurants; and well-kept and clean premises. My favorite restaurant in Cambridge, and I'm not Chinese! read more

Food quality here is just ok, but maybe that's just the entire Boston area for Chinese food. However, there is always a line to get into the place for dinner. Service is just so so and the decor is relatively clean. The main reason we come here is that it's very convenient to go to and there isn't anything that's any better in the area and the Mulan Restaurant that we normally go to has since closed. read more

Typical Chinese food to be honest. The prices are average. I'd recommend it since it is one of the only places in the area that I'm aware of and the food is good... but just good. read more

Can't find a worse restaurant than this -- too many people waiting with an average wait time of 30 min. And the customers are discriminated based on their races. read more

Egg drop soup, beef and celery dumplings, steamed buns are the best! Service is good.

Went last night for the 1st time. Poor service, very noisy and crowded. The food is too greasy and salty, the price is high too.

Awesome place! Great dumplings. Love the Pork Fried Rice and Crab Rangoon. Super fast service.

This place was amazing! Actually went there 2 days in a row it was so good. Such authentic food. Restaurant is so decieving from the outside....thought it was a small diner. Walking in we were suprised at how large and bright it is. I've had dumplings elsewhere, including ChinaTown in NY, but this restaurant beats them all! Definitely on my list when I return to Cambridge next month. read more

Big, big fan! The place is always busy and the wait staff is definitely a bit curt, but the food is absolutely delicious. Highly recommend the soup dumplings and salt and pepper chicken! read more

Great food. Love the Shanghai steamed bums (mini ones). Great spicy food. The Cambridge store has more space comparing to the China town store. Parking is not problem at all during the weekend. Will pay a visit later. read more

Good location. My favorite dishes are the scallion pancakes, northern style cold noodles, spicy beef tendon with chili sauce, and shandong style pan fried dumplings. read more

I love dumpling house. It's the best near Harvard square and I went there almost everyday for lunch. :)

One of the more authentic and delicious Chinese restaurants in Cambridge, with an emphasis on Sichuanese food. There is often a long line and a wait, so if you come a bit before peak times, you won´t have to wait as long. Service is efficient to the point of being brusque (one time the waitress came to tell my friends and I that we needed to leave once we had finished our dinner and enjoying some post-meal conversation because they wanted to rush us off and clear the table for the next customers in line. The food is really good, though, and people who like spicy food will find lots of options (I am a fan of the beef and longhorn peppers, and several of the soups). read more

I have been there three times and two of them were bad. Large, unorganized staff who somehow is not very attentive. I had three different dishes (not dumplings) and they were below average. The third time I actually got food poisoning and somehow was not surprised. read more

This place is a disaster when it comes to customer service. I have had two bad experiences here now, and have not even been able to taste the food. The most recent once included placing a take-out order, reaching the restaurant after 25 minutes and the hostess/cashier had completely forgotten my order. She fumbled around for 15 minutes trying to get my order back, but after explaining to her 4-5 times including circling the numbers on the menu, I became exasperated at her incomprehension. Instead of really apologizing or trying to make it up to a new customer, she insultingly offered a 10% discount for all the inconvenience. I explained this was the second time I had a bad experience with the restaurant, but the staff didn't seem to care. This place needs serious help with its management. No matter what the food may taste like, with service like that I would rather spend my money elsewhere. read more

Best In Boston!! Always delicious! Sometimes it is crowded but they are very quick with the food. There are tables opening up frequently so don't walk away if it seems too busy. I'm trying to make my way through the menu but I can't go without getting their Wonton Soup and Pork Fried Rice. I know that is sooo typical but then the menu gets really good. I've had the soup dumplings that are terrific and come in different concoctions, beef, seafood, chicken, etc. They are a burst of flavor in your mouth. Then for the main meal: try the Sautéed Shredded Pork in Sweet Bean Sauce, they shave some green onions over the Pork and it is WONDERFUL. So Delicious! The Taiwanese Sautéed Noodles are so yummy that I couldn't stop eating them. You can ever order online or if you want to take out (which I do when I am coming home from the airport) and they have it ready in no time. I've never had to wait for my food. There is plenty of food for the entire table so don't be shy...eat up!! DELICIOUS EVERY TIME!! read more

I really wanted to like this place. dumplings were only mediocre. we came with our kids and ordered a couple of non-spicy dishes on the menu...or so we thought. then we tasted the taiwanese salt and pepper chicken. we specifically ordered this for the kids as it did not have a little pepper sign signifying it was spicy. mind you, I've also had this dish at orher places...I know what it should taste like..just salty and mild...then I bit into one of their pieces. it tasted like someone dumped a whole BJs sized container of black pepper in their batter. When we told the waitress, she had the audacity to tell me that anything with black pepper is spicy and if I ordered anything salt and pepper it would be spicy...seriously? I asked her to taste it, which she refused until she took it back in the kitchen. then she came out and said it wasnt spicy at all...not even a little...really? that really upset me they couldn't even own up to their mistake. never going back for mediocre food and horrible service. read more
