Killer dumplings. Great prices. I wasn't that big on the Ramen, but everything else was awesome.

I'd never eaten dumplings prior to visiting Dumpling Daughter but I was thoroughly impressed with how quickly they prepared my food and how delicious everything was. I have only visited twice but only due to location. The owner of this restaurant is extremely friendly and makes you feel at home as soon as you walk through the door. My family ordered scallion pancakes, soup dumplings, pork and cabbage dumplings, braised pork belly sandwiches (which I advise to get) and the butter miso noodles, which I think are really good to get if you have kids. I didn't love the soup dumplings but my mom liked them a lot. I think kids would rather get regular dumplings instead. Also, the scallion pancakes were a little too crispy. Such a waste of money and time! Went here last week with co-workers for lunch, read the reviews before going, I dont know who posts all those positive reviews. The food was below average, nothing special and way too overpriced, by 50% at least. Beef buns had very little meat and bland and the chicken ramen didnt taste chicken at all. One of my favorite places to get a quick ramen soup (try the spicy Beijing Braised beef or the veg-friendly Veggie Ramen). Loved this place so much!! Visiting a friend in Weston and she took us here. $4 boba & $6 dumplings. The decor is gorgeous (feels a little like a hip coffee shop with a lot of red) and though you order at the counter, food is served right to the table with friendly & smiling service. Everything was delicious & fresh. While we were waiting for our food, one of the workers behind the counter was sung happy birthday and greeted with a huge cake. Everything there are amazing. Too bad they don't have one closer to the city, but that's okay because it's worth the drive.

My husband noted this place before I saw good reviews about it in the Boston Sunday Globe Magazine today. We decided to go there for supper and we are glad we did! Nice and clean, very cozy. I usually consider having Chinese food not healthy but I was pleasantly surprised here. I had the spinach and tofu soup, pork and chive dumplings--delicious! My husband had wonton soup, sampler of shrimp dumplings. My mother in law (who hardly ever eats Chinese food) had the salmon salad. Everyone was happy! While the tea seems overpriced, other prices are reasonable for the good quality and area. Will be back! read more

Came here with my pop for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Place was busy, but found a table right away. First time so I wanted to try a myriad of menu items. Dumplings, buns, and a noodle bowl each is what we ordered. Everything served was pre packaged. I literally saw them remove it from the packages and heat it over steam. On their menu it says not that instant noodle. While it wasn't instant, it might as well have been. The noodles are not homemade. Pre-packaged with some ginger and 3 day old pork. Noodles tasted like they were 3 days old rather. Pops got the braised beef soup. It looked extremely heavy and he wasn't all that impressed. Buns had maybe half a bite of beef and all bread. Dumplings were thick and chewy. For the amount of food you get the price is fair. Take into account the quality, and you have overpriced hyped up take out. For Weston, maybe this is as good as it gets. But there's a reason Weston mass is not known for it fine dining. I'll probably order from here when I'm drunk and hungry, but definitely not something I'd do again sober. read more

I walked in around noon, the young lady worked at the counter were chatting up a storm with a young patron, I think they were flirting, I waited and waited but they never stopped, so finally I said to her "I am so sorry to interrupt you, I am in a hurry, could I place my order, please?" The young lady was visibly upset but she kept her composure and let me place my order. I was told green tea costs $5 because it is special house tea with flowers, Starbucks grande cappuccino costs about the same, naturally I opt for a bottle water. The pork ramen tastes okay but portion is kinda small. I know it is Weston so you do pay premium. The fact that they could charge $12 for a small portion of noodle dish and still manage to have a full house proves that people in Weston are oblivious to prices I have no problem with paying high for amazing food, but this was mediocre at best and service was absolutely terrible. I'm wondering if Chipotle or Penera Bread open a new restaurant in Weston, do they increase price 20-30% vs the one in Natick/Framingham? After all, it is a fast casual restaurant. read more

We were so excited for a Chinese restaurant in Weston, but then so disappointed by two meals. I'm hesitant to ding a place just getting going but that's what feedback is for (and reviewing). Over two meals we had a variety of noodle bowls, dumplings and buns. Competent, average, nothing particularly interesting about the spicing or flavors, which would be okay except that the with pricing and small portions I would expect the tradeoff of a bit more thought and innovation. Nice variety of dumplings, but execution was similar to the average, inexpensive takeout in terms of texture. There's a sense that more time was spent on the attractive clean design of the restaurant, and thoughts of franchising than on the execution of the dishes. And, what about a reasonably priced lunch menu? Right now the only thing going for it is that it's the only game in town. I'd be happy to try again in a few months, until then we'll satisfy our cravings next door in Waltham and Natick. read more

The restaurant is clean and bright, the staff is friendly and efficient, and the food is here SO good. There is a great mix of bowls, buns, and dumplings, plus specials that are a delight to try. It's not your usual Chinese restaurant but an experience all its own. Great for take-out, for lunch, or for a quick afternoon nibble with kids. read more

I've had pan-fried dumplings in many Chinese restaurants across the US over the years, and the ones at Dumpling Daughter are right up there with my favorites! How people think that they are frozen makes me laugh. I also very much enjoy the brussel spouts, green beans, cucumber salad, crispy chicken sliders and mango bubble tea. read more

Very disappointing June 30 about 6:30. Ordered Captain Marden's Salmon. No greens, just salmon sitting on rice. Really boring dish. Took 15 minutes although several empty tables. Ordered (my entree) Spicy Tofu: took 25 minutes. No mushrooms, no greens. Tofu cubes on rice with an unreal, unidentifiable-condiment sauce. Lived in China two years. This Tofu was some sort of mistake thrown together in a hurry. A culinary-ingredient mistake to accompany the restaurant forgetting to prepare and bring the dish. read more

It's very mouth watering experience, but the plates are small and it adds up, for 4 people sharing we spent $65+ and probably felt 80% full. It's definitely a healthy option, and cozy location. Bok choy was on every table and was definitely delicious read more

Dumpling Daughter has become one of my favorite restaurants in the area. The food is so fresh and flavorful! Nadia is an excellent owner and hostess and goes out of her way to make her patrons feel at home. Definitely stop in for dumplings or ramen or even bubble tea to go! Hi - I have been here twice now, and I hope they make it! Staff is a bit green (lots of people moving around, but order time is slow). That is (I believe) something that will work itself out. Quality of food is good and fresh - but they have to look into their meat-grinder. I found bits of bone/gristle in the pork and chicken dumplings - very small, but still annoying. Won-Ton soup was excellent! Delicate flavor with very good broth. Spring rolls were wonderful - crisp and filled with cabbage. I will be going back in a couple of weeks - I think they just need to get "into the groove". read more

My first visit to Dumpling Daughter did not disappoint. The wonton soup was delicious with very fresh ingredients and delicate (not doughy) wontons. Grandma's spaghetti was also very good - an authentic version of Chinese spaghetti. The dumplings were superb, again with fresh ingredients. Of the "buns" I preferred the pork version, and unlike many I have had elsewhere, the dough did not overpower the stuffing. It is wonderful to have authentic Chinese food available without driving into Chinatown. The restaurant itself, while smallish, is stylish, comfortable, beautifully decorated and gleamingly clean. Read the reviews before going and they seemed to be Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.. Unfortunately, my experience was Mr Hyde. Usually I'd try again in a while before writing a negative review since everyone can have a bad day, but my experience was just that unpleasant. We ordered takeout by phone and were told 15 minutes. We arrived after about 20 minutes and then had to wait another 15 minutes. So, over twice the length of what we were told. New place, it happens. When we got to the car, my daughters noticed that they'd forgotten the two bubble teas we ordered. Instead of just going to make the drinks, they spent a long time going back over the receipts first. The worker was having trouble making the drinks and the owner walked over looking as if she were going to help, but instead mostly berated the worker in front of the restaurant; instead, she should have made the drinks and trained him later. This made us very uncomfortable. Finally, the owner helped the procedure along until the drinks were made. Finally, she shoved them angrily intol my daughters hands as if they had been the cause of the difficulty. A smile, a thank you, and a sorry for the wait can go a long way. Hostility out of frustration is not a great plan for customer service. So, when we finally got home the dumplings, noodles, and buns were on the cool side. Food was actually okay, though a bit more pedestrian than you'd expect from the prices and from the menu, which features dishes beyond the typical asian fare. read more

We love Dumpling Daughter! Really surprised about the negative reviews - maybe those people are expecting the MSG and cornstarch-laden typical American Chinese food experience? Thank goodness DD is not that! The food here is so delicious - flavorful, fresh and well-made. We've probably had everything on the menu, and it's all been fantastic. Favorites are the pork ramen, dandan noodles, rice bowls, brussels sprouts, bok choy, the bao...pretty much the whole menu, I guess. When the soup dumplings are available, they're such a treat!!! We saw this on Phantom Gourmet and decided to check it out. It's a bit of a drive (20-25 minutes), but it seemed worth it. We got some ramen, dumplings, and a few other things. Unfortunately, it didn't really live up to our expectations. While it wasn't that bad, I've had better dumplings locally in Wellesley (Coconut Thai) and better ramen, though that was out of state. If you like to pay a premium to have someone cook the frozen packages that you can get at any Asian supermarkets or wholesale clubs such as Costco or BJs, this will be a perfect place for you. The food is unimpressive. I ordered three types of dumplings: Petit Chicken Dumplings with Slow Cooked Sichuan Sauce, Pan-Seared Pork and Napa Cabbage and Steamed Shrimp Dumpling (weekend special). The petit chicken dumplings were the worst. They had no veges inside. The chicken meat tasted like defrosted meat without juice. I also ordered Three Day Pork Ramen, and only learned that Chinese restaurant is not where you should order Ramen. The noodles were not chewy and the broth was tasteless. There are better places for ramen at Brighton area. I don't mind paying a premium at restaurants if the food and service are good. At this place, the food is below average, portion is small and service is fast-food style. All their utensils are very Earth unfriendly. They provide plastic forks, knifes and cups. Paper plates are provided for sharing a dish. When our group was done, we threw away a ton of trash. I was basically paying a premium to eat below average food at an upscale neighborhood, covering their rent. When I am around the neighborhood next time, I will drive 5 more mins to go to some other authentic Chinese restaurants on Main St in the next town Waltham instead. read more

The fried rice and brussels were very good. The ramen was lukewarm, and was a bit of a disappointment. The place was busy - seemed like a popular spot, and they do a decent take out orders as well. We will visit again for another try. It is certainly worth a visit. read more

FANTASTIC is simply the best word to describe Dumpling Daughter!!!! I've been wanting to try this place ever since I read about the opening and the history of the family's restaurant businesses in Boston Magazine a while back. The staff was kind and courteous and the food is delicious. One thing the area was missing is good Chinese food--especially dumplings! We've tried alot of the menu but our favorites were the pork and chive dumplings. Normally the dumplings I've had tend to be too doughy but the pan fried ones here had just the right amount of wrapping and snap when you bite into them. I can't recall having better ones. We had three Coco rollups which were filling but didn't feel too heavy. That pretty much goes for everything we ordered which was a nice reprieve from most other Chinese restaurants. I'm guessing this has to do with the quality of the ingredients?... We had the meat sauce over pasta which was delicious. It was a great mix of sweet and savory although one of my friends I was with much preferred the dumplings and left me to enjoy the pasta which was fine with me!! Definitely worth mentioning are the pork belly and chicken cutlet buns. The pork belly was perfectly seared (alot of places forget this part) and the chicken had a delicious sauce that my friend couldn't get enough of (3 orders!). Apart from the food, the layout is really nice. I like the concept and it seems like they added some traditional elements as well as some modern ones. I just don't understand all the good reviews, except for the fact that people who live nearby must be so happy to have a restaurant in Weston. Ordered a lot of takeout and no one liked any of the dishes. We eagerly kept trying new dishes and we all sorely disappointed. Perhaps the restaurant went down hill, or perhaps the Westonians are starved for anything resembling ethnic food. Two thumbs down. read more

Tried this place at friend's recommendation, what a great find. For our first time (weekday dinner on a summer evening, 2 adults and 2 young children), this place offered a pretty enjoyable and relaxing meal. The dishes are fresh authentic home cooked quick dishes, definitely reminded me of meals my mom or grandmother would make. The dishes we tried (3 different dumplings, the ramen, the beef noodle, bubble teas, steamed Taiwanese pork bun) were all very good, based on a palate that has tried food internationally, and particularly this type of food in Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, LA, Palo Alto, NYC, Boston .... the food here is pretty spot on. This place serves xiao chi (Taiwanese home / fast food), and it does very well. I live in Wellesley Hills and am so thrilled we have a place like this just the other side of Rt 20. To get an authentic unpretentious fast and well-made meal from a friendly staff, keep the whole family happy, that deserves 5 stars. We will be back with friends. read more

My friend and I were excited to try this restaurant for the first time. It would be fair to say there were some highs and lows. We ordered dumplings, buns, lo-mein, and a special app of the day. First off, a word about the service. The server that helped us did not proactively offer things like chopsticks or water, we had to ask. As the restaurant is not your typical counter service, a little heads up on how things work, or what's available would be good. There were other minor things which had more to do with our server in particular, but it would seems that there are still some kinks to work out with the server staff working together as a fine tuned machine. Second, it was not apparent what order the food should come out in. We received each item as it was cooked, which was fine as we ordered mostly small plates or sides. I'm not sure if that's the way it would go if we ordered an entree or not, it was hard to tell from other guests. The wait time wasn't bad as others have suggested, as it's clear everything is fresh and cooked to order. Finally, the quality of the food. The dumplings and buns were spot on. Yes, I did ask for spicy chili sauce on the side as I err on wanting more flavor. The scallion lo-mein was not great. The noodles were full of oil, and there was just a few scallions on top. We will be back and will try more of the dishes, or perhaps stick with the dumplings, which were delicious! read more

my wife insists this is decent considering we're in the Boston suburbs, but really the food was rather bland. the dandanmien lacked excitement. the Sichuan dumplings had a little flavor in the oil but none of it penetrated the dense dumplings. Taiwanese sandwiches were ok. read more

We are absolutely addicted to Dumpling Daughter. We have dined in and done take out numerous times and have had an incredible experience every time! There hasn't been a meal we have had that we didn't love! Our favorites are the crisp brussel sprouts, pork ramen, braised port belly Taiwanese buns and the Grandma's Beijing Meat Sauce Over Spaghetti (so unique and delicious!). Delicious!! Fresh, tasty, and plenty of options on the menu. We tried the veggie dumplings and the chicken dumplings. We are dim sum snobs and found these dumplings superb. My husband is not always a pork bun fan because the bun can be dry but he loved this one. Great place to stop in for a meal or snack -- we will be back! read more
