As soon as I made it to Brooklyn, I knew exactly where I wanted to go for lunch. Actually, even though there are over 800 reviews of this place that were written before, this for me was the most important food stop for the day. The reason? I was actually supposed to review DuMont Burger last summer as I had been here before on July 19, 2025 before I would go on to elrow that night. The only reason I didn't write this review last summer was because I had gone missing from Yelp at around this time. Otherwise, this review would have been written on July 20, 2025. BUT that makes this place more than eligible for me to review in 2026, and I still had the pictures of the food here from my 2025 visit, so you may see some pictures where the same food makes more than one appearance. So a little about DuMont Burger. It's a very small burger place, and you can easily miss it if you don't know what you're looking for. I wouldn't recommend say bringing your entire extended family of 85 over, but it's a great place to come if you're either by yourself or just one friend. Both visits I sat at the bar, and both times I was greeted immediately upon seating myself. The bartender/waitress is very friendly and checks up while I eat/drink. Bathroom is for Customers Only and is quite small, but if you need to go you can latch the door shut to enjoy some privacy. There's a few chairs to sit at if you don't want to eat at the bar, but I love the bar seating here which I why I chose the bar on both visits. If you sit by the window you can see some books that help decorate the interior. My entree both times was the DuMac & Cheese Burger, cooked well-done because that's how I like my burgers cooked. And yes, I do like my burgers well-done. What are YOU going to do about it? Anywho, the drink I ordered on my visits WERE different. The first time I had the Boujee Brownie which was pretty good despite it being in one of those punch in a hole with a straw kind of containers. Yesterday's visit came the Rum Punch which was equally as good and came in a glass which I much prefer cocktails and milkshakes of any kind to be served to me in. Honestly, given that the burger I'd ordered is about $20'ish, I'm not mad about being charged a smidge over $35 here. For a good lunch in Brooklyn, that price is actually not bad. Additionally, I absolutely loved this burger and glad I got it again. The fries it comes with are crispy and flavorful. It's also amazing that these are house made foods and drinks. This is becoming a favorite spot for me whenever I visit Williamsburg. I definitely recommend this for anyone who needs a good burger in Brooklyn, especially to those back home in Connecticut who read my reviews. read more

Last minute decision and so happy my kids wanted burgers that night! We were parked minutes from the Williamsburg bridge after coming back from NYC. Went in and it wasn't busy and we were seated and several right away! Drinks came out minutes later. The pub has a decent menu and seating area but I can see it filing up quickly on regular days. I'd super highly recommend if you're in the mood for American cuisine; burger and fries and drinks! Super fresh burgers and crispy fries. Grilled chicken was to die for! Surprisingly, this place was really good. I had the burgers and fries. I had this cherry flavored milkshake with Rum. It was nice. The milkshake got me real nice with the rum .The burger. It looks like it's burnt in the picture but actually it's just crispy on the outside and soft in the middle it was a good burger. It also the fries were great. Had a great lunch. Wow. I walked in and was pretty bummed that the seating is pretty much all bar-type. Then I quickly did not give a hoot about that when the food was delivered. We started with the fried pickles which includes fried pickles, friend jalapeños, and fried green beans. Amazing. Then the burger came and blew me away! They know how to prepare a burger. When I lived in NYC, this was my go-to burger spot and 11/10 recommend! The restaurant is small so it can be difficult to find seating in the evening time if you have a group larger than 3-4. But I've rarely had to wait for seating, there's also a bar to I absolutely love the Dumac & cheeseburger. The Mac & cheese has bits of bacon and it's very flavorful. The patty itself isn't seasoned much so that's my piece of feedback. Otherwise I love the seasoning in the French fries and the portion size is perfect. So today I went to pick up 3 burgers I always get 3 and always one of them is an 8 ounce so I call the store to speak with them and the guy I spoke to tells me sometimes the burger shirnks that they can't accommodate me and all I wanted was an 8 ounce but he wouldn't refund me my order or give me a new order. Great mac and cheese + solid burger = Dumac and cheese burger. That's right, the Dumac and cheese burger has combined both of these American classics into one. As expected, it was quite filling and tasty. I got the 8 oz burger, which was quite large, but I was still able to finish it comfortably. I got onion rings as my side, which were definitely better than most, as they were seemingly larger and puffier than usual. That being said, I have a a couple minor complaints with the burger. For one, they put all of the burger toppings (lettuce, pickles, etc.) on the side rather than on the burger. Is it that hard for them to just put it on the burger for me after I had specifically asked for them? Also, the sheer size of the burger made it a bit impractical to eat. And above all, the $19 price tag for this burger was rather expensive. Our waiter was very friendly, though the service speed was a bit slow. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. Cozy bare bones dive bar. Menu is short and sweet and what you'd expect from such a place. Burgers were great - super juicy, the 8oz especially thick. I had the original which comes as a 5oz patty with special sauce, American cheese, and onion bacon jam. I realllly wished they had the option to make it the 8oz like the other burgers on the menu. Nonetheless, the beef was great and enjoyed it to the very last bite. Fries were hand cut and tended to be on the greasy side, but still much better than any frozen option. My byline says Livingston, NY, and I have a place there, but I've lived in Williamsburg for fifteen years and been ordering from Dumont in all that time. Something is off about the place lately. Tonight I ordered one of my standards, a skate sandwich with onion rings, and it was pretty awful, to tell the truth. The onion rings were greasy and way underdone, and the skate was greasy and blah. If this wasn't a neighborhood institution, I would say, So what? But it IS an institution, so I want to ask, Do you have new cook? If so, they need to go. Solid experience at DuMont burger. The location is on bustling Bedford Avenue, easy to find but parking is murder. Small location, another helper described it perfectly as the whole place is a bar. One traditional bar with 6 small stools, one "island" in the center with 6 stools, several stools surround the balance of the place with a small shelf to sit a cocktail on. Service is quick, cocktails run $9 a clip with a generous pour. Coca Cola is actually served in a Coca Cola bottle. The burgers were very good, quality meat on a brioche bun served with lettuce tomato pickles and onions. You are offered a side of French fries, onion rings or salad. The French fries are well above average while the onion rings were very strange, fresh and hot but the batter has a corn dog consistency. I would not get them again. The DuMont mac n cheese was delicious, I can think of at least 5 of my yelp friends who would be head over heals for it. Looking forward to going back as they have a Fried chicken thigh sandwich that looked outstanding. The reason for three stars you ask? The seating is difficult especially when with groups. Though many have complained about it being pricey and small (which it is), it should be noted that it's also cute yet tasty (it is). It's hard to savor the flavor without wolfing it down in a few bites. Rather than dowse high expectations with insatiable hunger, it may be safe to order with sampling and tasting in mind. That said, a great meal can be had here for the pretty penny. Despite its burger loving title, this small date worthy eatery is more than just burgers. Though the cuisine Americana menu is highly condensed from its larger sister restaurant (http://www.yelp.com/biz/dumont-brooklyn), there are quite a few notable dishes popular with foodgasm seeking patrons. The DuMac and cheese being one of them, a baked radiatore pasta with bacon and three cheeses, sounds better than its $14 hefty price tag may suggest. Cheesewise it was a little underwhelming and lacked a bit of seasoning, not that mac and cheese ever really needs much, but some would have helped. A non-burger sandwich I enjoy is their fresh fish sammy, a battered and fried skate perched between soft burger friendly bread, topped with tarter sauce and cheese if requested. Due to its small and tight interior, group outings are almost out of the question. Dates are often relegated to the bar when the evening / weekend wait times are unbearably long and the restaurant unbelievably cramped. Service is for the most part fairly adequate and the bartenders really know how to make a stiff drink (pickle cocktail - wow!). The main star on the menu, the DuMont burger, is one that will cost upwards of $20 after an order of the fries ($6) or their uber crispy onion rings ($6), and cheese ($1.50) to round out a typical, but complete meal. At medium rare, the burger is juicy, delectable, and easily one of the best in the hood. With it's relatively high price point, small patty, and spendy sides, it hinders its ability to join the ranks of the top burger joints of NYC. That's not the say I wouldn't eat here again, but I don't know if it's a burger that commands enough folks to come out of their way for it. For non-meat eaters, there are quite a few options (this is Brooklyn after all). A chickpea burger ($12) with cucumber and yogurt is a stellar choice as is their eggplant parmesan ($12). I've enjoyed their salads ($8-11), which were fresh, well prepped, and very good. But aside from health nuts, who really wants to eat a salad in a burger joint anyway? It's small and cute, very chill, exactly what I was looking for after a good sweat session. The meat was quality, but kind of dry and not seasoned very well. I got the mac & cheese burger, and unfortunately it sounded better than it was. The mac & cheese on its own was cool, but combined with the burger it gave the whole sandwhich a kind of sweet taste oddly enough, which is not what i was craving. Lastly the burger cost me 20$! Pretty steep for a run of the mil bar burger if you ask me. In all honesty if they changed a few things here and there this could be a good burger, but they definitely have to go back to the drawing board. My turkey burger on an english muffin was soooo juicy and flavorful! When you request add-on ingredients like guacamole or bacon, they really do not skimp out on you.
