My bf's favorite burger place, my favorite soup place. Lol. Well I gotta say they have pretty good burger, but I'm more a soup person whenever there's soup options. Especially for a cold winter day, their creamy soup really warms u up and comfort my heart. Get there dumont burger! My bf is an expert and picky for pizza and burgers, this is the place he goes whenever he wants burger. It really won't let you down. We have been this place for bunch of times. I don't think it's warm enough for winter time,I do doubt if they have heater, it's warmer than cold outside but still u don't get cozy warm feeling. Another thing I don't like is the Asian waiter. Like I said, we have been in this place for bounce of times throughout the year, the Asian waiter is always there and I never seen his happy face. I came here for a pre-concert meal with a couple of friends. The place is small and there isn't much elbow room but its casual atmosphere is perfect for this kind of neighborhood hangout. Since I had just had a burger earlier that week I opted to have their grilled ahi tuna sandwich. It was very good and the onion rings and mango salsa were a perfect accompaniment. My friends ordered the DuMont burger and the pulled pork sandwich and they were both very happy with their meals. For drinks I really enjoyed the French occupation cocktail - vodka, ginger, mint. Very refreshing. The food prices are also inexpensive. So if you want a casual meal and good burgers in Williamsburg, this is the place to go. read more

We needed a place to eat after my daughter's graduation, narrowed it down to a few and decided on this one simply because I got a spot in front. Had the Dumont burger which was cooked exactly how I asked, medium rare, also ordered fries with garlic and parmesan, one order was enough for three. Way big and very delicious. The Dumont Mac and cheese was another good sized portion and the cheese was perfect, not too mushy, not too hard. Was looking for a place nearby to grab a bite for a going away dinner before the move to Texas. This spot came up and decided to go before the snow started since they had outdoor heating . The server was helpful in explaining the menu and helping us decided what to get. I got the dumont burger and it was pretty good I asked to have it cooked chef recommendation which was medium but it came back about medium well, but the meat was still tender and melt in your mouth good :. So would recommend ordering a temp lower. the fries were great and crisp. And the Mac and cheese was delicious and not too heavy. They do have about 4 tables a heaters above each but since the covering is open on the sides the heater doesn't do too much on a cold night. If I lived in the neighborhood this would be my regular spot, however, I don't. But! This is a great burger at a reasonable price! Boyfriend and I came by early on a Friday night. It wasn't too busy and we were able to choose any section to sit. WARNING: all seats are bar stools, nary a seat back or regular height chair to be found in the place. We added ranch dressing for dippage. My boyfriend got his burger medium rare and I asked for mine the same but was told the classic only comes medium. Fine. My burger was cooked pretty perfectly to medium rare. My boyf's got extra time in the oven to melt a forgotten slice of cheese onto it and it still was just slightly less done then mine. If you are eked our by raw ground meat, err on the more well done side. The real show stoppers here were the onion rings and ranch dressing. The onion rings are fried in almost a tempura like batter. They were sweet and salty and delicious. The ranch dressing must be home made and it's exactly what you want excellent fresh ranch dressing to be! This place felt like a lot of bang for your buck in Williamsburg. Our two burgers and one soda was about $25. Not my normal experience in the neighborhood. Nothing special at all, not sure why people say it's one of the best burgers in Willyb..? I like my fries crispy, and these fries were the exact opposite. The garlic&parmesan addition was good (+$1.50), just if the fries were cooked longer. The burger itself was okay, I couldn't taste the bleu cheese I added to it ($1.50 for adding cheese, $2 for bacon or avocado). You get a choice of either a 5 or 8 oz. patty($12/$15), I asked for it medium and it came out well done. For the price I would have preferred any other burger; I probably would not come back unless a group of friends wanted to come here. Something about the way a burger feels in your hand as it goes into your mouth. Large brioche bun housed this imposing patty with lean meat to fat ratio without giving up any flavor or juiciness. We noticed, after a long wait, that a couple beside us who sat after us was served first. (It was our order they ate). I live not too far from here, so it's a perfect place to stop in and get a burger. I've eaten here a number of times and it's a reliable burger joint, but nothing to write home about. I've gotten the DuMac and Cheese burger a couple times and it's usually pretty good, though $14, which is steep. A lot of ingredients packed on a bun that usually falls apart, though the mac and cheese is tasty. I want to say the fries came with the burger - there's also a side of fries on the menu for $6, but I don't think I would have ordered them for that much. My boyfriend usually gets the same burger, but with a side of onion rings. Last time I went in, it took a good amount of time for the food to come out, but I don't think it's always that way. The restaurant itself is very small on the inside, but they've got some outdoor seating that really elevates the seating. Ambiance is rustic and dim, with a really chill vibe. Perfect for popping in on a Sunday to have a relaxing lunch, but not with a group because it's that small. I like to sit at the bar and think it would be fun for after work drinks too. I see that they have boozy milkshakes, which sound delicious. Dumont not only FOOD POISONED MY KIDS (5 and 7) but when I inquired for a second time for my very late order, the person at the restaurant told me to, *"bring your (my) lazy ass and pick up the order then!"* (wth?). I've been going to this place, and ordering its food, for the last 11 years. I've also been a sous and exec chef in an NYC 1 and 3 Michelin Star restaurants -so I know service, and I know food. I have never received that level of service. For context, I live 3 blocks away, this was the second order of the day (4/27) and the food arrived late, when I inquired (2 times) they told me that or my food was ready or it was on my way, it took them 90 min to deliver. Also, the BURGER was ROTTEN and SMELLY, too bad I got to taste them AFTER my kids had most of it. It's sad how the neighborhood changes, this use to be a nice place to go since my 20's. Stumbled upon this place walking around the streets in Williamsburg. the place is tiny doesn't seat a lot of people but great for a burger and beer stop . The menu is limited. Dumont is our to go Burger joint and we have been patronizing since they first opened and then they sold it and the new management is trying their best to meet and exceed customer service. Tonight we ordered the Buffalo chicken and cream of mushroom soup and the soup was delicious however, we had an issue with the Buffalo chicken sandwich. We called and the young lady gracefully agreed to send a replacement no drama, no interrogation. She was super sweet and we will continue to patronize and recommend Dumont to all our friends. Dumont is sadly going down hill. I have enjoyed Dumont for some time now and never felt the need to add another glowing review for this popular burger joint. I have always especially liked the fries, side salad, and fish sandwich. My girlfriend (a vegan) would happily chow down on their chickpea burger. But they have gotten a new chef in there and they have started foolin' around with the formula that has made them a star. Some of the trade-off are clearly financial...bigger side salad, smaller side of fries...is the bun smaller too? Some trade-offs are toss-ups...fish sandwich used to come with a side of tarter sauce, now it has a tarter sauce cabbage mix on the sandwich. Some might like it...I preferred the former. The breading might not be the same as well. Overall a former superstar fish sandwich is now just good. Some are just are lame...the chickpea burger now has egg in it and is NOT VEGAN. I am never getting in there now if I can't bring my vegan friends. Crap. Even if I go alone I don't know if I think it is worth the wait. So I am writing this as a warning to diners not to get too emotionally involved. They are feeling some kind of money pinch or too cocky...not a good sign. And a note to the owners. This is probably the best burger you'll get in the 'burg. I used to love coming here after work to read a book, eat a burger, and drink a beer but now the place is REALLY busy. It's nearly impossible to find a seat now and it gets really loud. I still rate them high because their burger and chicken sandwich with avocado and jalapeos is something to cry about. Did I really just pay $10.75 for a burger the size of a Jimmy Dean microwavable mini sausage breakfast sandwich (you know, the ones that come in a two pack)? Now I am not gonna say this was his fault, but I have never had anyone miss the buzzer before... so...yeah Once he got to my door, I received a bang, not a knock, but a bang. I open the door, food is instantly shoved into my hands. I set it down and proceed to grab the check to sign for it. He hands me a folded up piece of paper with the receipt stapled to the other side. I assume I should sign on the receipt, he instantly barks at me "NO, on the paper!". I apologized, even though he should of, and proceeded to sign the paper. I felt bad and wanted to ask the guy if he has had a really bad day and if there was anything I could do to help. Oh Dumont I've wanted you since i set eyes on you at smorgusburg a year or so ago. I bought a tiny tasting and i was so hooked i needed more! Finally we took a ride into Williamsburg one cold night. I called before hand but you don't take reservations. We parked around the corner and made our way to you. We went in and it looked like a take out area, some bar stools, long tables and a huge black board with specials. We sat down and got comfortable. The wait staff was going in and out from next door so we made a friend check it out. My god were we lucky the main restaurant was packed! We were seated instantly while people were waiting an hour for seats!! Sneaky sneaky We ordered the Pickle and Co. For an app. It was delicious fried pickles, jalapeños and string beans with a great mayo. We shared a Dumont Burger with provolone and bacon and a Chickpea burger with tazaki. The Dumont burger was outstanding!! Everything i hoped for and remembered! Juicy, flavorful, thick cut of beef. Bacon was great it was cut thick. To bad i split it .. Womp womp.. Chickpea Burger was flavorful with different veg in the burger and delicious with the tazaki but dont stray from the burger thats what your here to get. Both sweet potato and regular fries are crunchy and well seasoned. I love this restaurant and you most def have to try them out atleast once. I'm accustomed to being promised a great burger and then being disappointed (see also: Whitmans, Spotted Pig) so I tried not to get my hopes up too high for DuMont Burger. It took a little longer than expected, but it was totally worth the wait. The beef was cooked perfectly, flavorful, with just the right amount of cheese. Tons of toppings on the side as well. I changed my order last minute to include onion rings instead of fries, and that turned out to be a great choice. I'm always on the lookout for great onion rings, and DuMont may be the winner. The fries are nothing to laugh at either! Just the right about of crispiness on the outside and fluffyness (if that's a word) on the inside. DuMont's not the biggest place, but they were able to seat four of us right away. Waitress was friendly, and we still had elbow room despite the limited space. The burger wasn't cheap ($12.50 plus $1.50 for cheese), but it was definitely worth trying. One of the better burgers I've had in a long time! read more

This is my favorite burger. Consistent every time. When I leave, my fingers smell of burger and i think that's just fine. Fresh, hearty, a perfect meal. The Dumont burger is big here, so I usually get the Dumont Mini, which comes with a ciabatta bun instead of brioche, which i think compliments the beef even better. The sweet pickles are amazing! Huge helping of either the best-ever mesclun salad (vinaigrette not too acidic, perfect), or top-notch fries.The milkshakes is insanely, thickly satisfying. Also, one time I got myself to put down the beef and tried the Chickpea burger, and that is amazing too, tastes like a falafel on steroids. Alas, so expensive...it was cheaper last year. Is it the economy? Or just the success? When Dumont Burger first opened, it was cheaper than Dumont Restaurant (it's mothership), but in the last few months prices have crept up so that now the burger is the same price at both outposts. I've been on a burger tour of NYC for about 4 months now and I have to say that Dumont is top 5. I ordered their Dumont Burger and everything came A Le Cart which was annoying. The cramp seating is also kind of annoying but I guess that's Williamsburg! It was very well decorated and would be an ideal first date spot Although it is usually super packed the service was quick.
