I stopped at Duke's Malibu for lunch on the drive from Long Beach to Ventura. I always take Highway 1 / Pacific Coast Highway instead of the 101...! The extra time is worth the scenery & serenity...! Valet is the only parking option; they accept credit cards for both the fee and tip. Ocean views from the restaurant are excellent and service has been consistently good on every visit. This visit I ordered the Macadamia-nut and herb crusted sea bass with low-carb sides. The accompanying slaw was surprisingly good. Duke's is a reliable mid-point stop when heading north on the PCH toward Ventura. Recommended. read more

Very sad Experience, so disappointed none photo was taken. We were excited to celebrate our 10th anniversary at Duke's Malibu and made a reservation requesting a window seat. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from the moment we arrived. Valet was inattentive, the host service felt dismissive, and ignoring our window-seat request, we were told it would be a 40-minute wait if we like to be by the window. Shortly after, another couple arrived and was seated at a window table at my eyes view, which made us feel uncomfortable and question whether we were being treated differently because of our race. Service was also slow and inconsistent. Other tables received menu introductions and specials, while no one explained anything to us. Overall Resturant was very loud ! Popped in for a Friday lunch, and the scenery was amazing! Bright blue ocean with high waves crashing, beautiful. We both ordered the 2 for $35 lunch special and shared. We had the coconut shrimp that had 5 large shrimp with a tangy sauce and shaved cucumbers. We also had the rib and chicken plate. The ribs were excellent! I love Hawaiian mac, and it was very good. We also got the burger special, but it didn't arrive as stated on the menu. No brisket, no onion strings, and no mango, just a cheese burger with bacon. Love me some Duke's! Been trying to get here since they reopened - so glad they have. Duke's has a great view of the ocean and the open-air Hawaiian style of the place is always so welcoming. Be prepared to pay $12 to valet- worth every penny in my opinion. You could also street park. Sat in the bar facing the Pacific. I had their classic Mai Tai and had 2 orders of their famous coconut shrimp. Absolutely stellar- big juicy shrimp and a perfect Mai Tai. Servers are adorable! Hard working and so warm. My wife and I came to Duke's for my birthday weekend and we loved it! Everything we ate was super tasty and delicious. Our favorite dishes were the herb and Mac nut crusted sea bass and the glazed ribs. Our server Jimmy was super nice and attentive as well. The location right on the water is beautiful, as the waves were literally crashing up against the window as we were eating. Although it's a "nice" restaurant, the prices are relatively reasonable. We visited the Duke's in Waikiki on our honeymoon 7 years ago, so it was fitting to come here for our anniversary while in town. The views can't be beat. It's right on the ocean. One thing to note is parking is all valet, as far as we can tell. It was worth it though to not have to worry. We were seated right next to the window, but all tables seemed to have good views. The staff could not have been nicer. They were so friendly and comped us an anniversary dessert. It was the Hula Pie and I'll be thinking of that pie for a long time! So good! I had a Mai Tai which was strong and delicious. We both split the ahi bowl and the fish of the day. Not one bad bite. We finished every last morsel. Valet is $10 but we parked out on the highway for free. The views are beautiful here. It's really nice to sit next to the windows. And the ambience is really nice. Unfortunately, that's the best thing I can say about the restaurant. My table ordered appetizers to share and some of the plates. The best of the apps was probably the poke taco. When in Malibu, this is a great, happy place for a celebration. The views are pretty good too. We were celebrating a college graduation and had picture perfect seating next to the Pacific Ocean. Had a lovely date with my husband here the other night. Made a reservation for a window seat, but when we arrived they told us it would be quite a wait for a window, so we said nevermind (although we saw quite a few open window seat tables, which was a little annoying). Our food was delicious. My husband ordered some type of seafood stew and I had the fish tacos. Decent portion size and everything was seasoned well. Best of all, our MaiTais were amazing!!! Duke is now open again after the fires. It's only been 3 weeks so I decided to give them some love by visiting this iconic resturant. Parking: valet is $10 after 4pm on weekdays (I believe $12 all day on the weekend) but there's parking along PCH. Reservations: Use open table vs calling. When you call, they told us that there were no tables avaliable. This is due to short serving staff (for now). Last seating is 6:45pm, but the kitchen closes at 8pm. Food: The mac hummus was so good, it was flavorful and creamy. It was beautifully presented with radish, cucumbers and carrots. It's my first time having it and it'll be ordering it again. My friend ordered the Rocket Salad and enjoyed it very much. Mains: I got the macadamia and herb fresh fish, which was Mahi for the evening we went. I love capers but capers can be a bit salty, so might want to request ez capers or in the side. The fish was fresh and flakey. It was delicious. It comes with broccolini and jasmine rice but I got the mac salad instead. The mac salad was ok, it wasn't as bold as the Hawaiian mac salad that I was used to, but decent. Drink: I ordered the Lavender Yuzu Lemonade. I really thought it would be purple for the Lavender syrup but it wasn't. Regardless of the color, it was refreshing and not too strong. Service: we had Matthew who was absolutely amazing and attentive. My friend had requested some modifications and a lot of paper napkins and he was chill and funny about it. We were so happy to be able to come back to celebrate my husband's birthday with dukes Malibu. It was too long but understandable with the mudslide and stuff. Had a lovely experience at Duke's. Was happy to see since reopening after fires, restaurant is lovely! Food was perfect as was the service. We had a lovely relaxing evening from cocktails through dessert....until...leaving our booth, one in our party took a vigorous and dramatic fall landing with a resounding bang on the tile floor. Management jumped into action. 911 was immediately called and manager (we believe him to be) kneeled at our friend's side talking to her and making her comfortable until ambulance arrived. Couldn't have gone smoother. Thank you Duke's. Your handling of an unfortunate situation was stellar. We will be back again and again. Our friend escaped with minimal injuries....just a laceration. The rice was a little bit hard.But overall, a savory dish that is similar to like a thai coconut curry. They cooked the steak perfectly. But Duke's in Malibu just recently opened and it's been totally renewed, everything new, from top the bottom due to the smoke damage in Jan. 25 and being inundated with mud in Feb. 25. It's mid week we had waiting for us an elevated booth with a great view. Blue skies and the Pacific with pelicans diving into the sea were on display for our 2 hour lunch. It's all about the view. We ordered drinks and crab wontons, then fish and chips made with beer batter and macadamia nuts, and mahi mahi tacos, one grilled one battered. All good. The Hula Pie for dessert was very good-macadamia ice cream with hot fudge. $10-12 parking depending on the day. Various rooms to sit in. Out of the three pieces of fish, my friend ate one and said it was dry. She said the rest of the meal of fries and bok choy macadamia salad were good. We were so happy to see that Duke's is back after the devastating fires, they had been open for a few weeks. Amazingly remodeled, Duke's is cranking out the best mahi mahi fish tacos and Mai tais this side of the palisades. The staff is very friendly and our server, Kobe, was the best. We stopped by for a late lunch and sampled several appetizers including the coconut shrimp, seafood chowder and the fish tacos. My pineapple mule and Amy's Mai tai paired well with everything. The service was amazing! From the valet staff, to all of the ladies at the hostess desk, to the waiter who answered all of our questions, to the service staff and the bartenders. When we walked in, the music immediately took me back to my visit to Hawaii. The entire restaurant is decorated with things that remind you of a tropical paradise. We sat at a table right at the ocean wall. The windows were open, so we felt like we were sitting out on a patio. It was wonderful! My husband and I both absolutely loved our food! For so long Dukes had been one of my favorite restaurants, I'd even came here for my birthday dinner, but I WON'T be returning. On their reopening week, I returned here with some friends to celebrate. We were so happy with our appetizers and main dishes until we had halfway consumed the hula pie dessert and discovered tiny dead flies inside!! :( It was such a disgusting experience and sad letdown. Pulled up to Duke's Malibu on a Sunday just wanting a good meal and a moment by the water and from the valet to dessert, it delivered. Let me start with the service. Lauren was my server, and she was exceptional. Attentive without hovering, warm, knowledgeable, and just genuinely pleasant from beginning to end. I even made it a point to speak to a manager because when service is right, it deserves to be said just as loudly as when it's wrong. Food-wise? No complaints at all. Filet mignon, medium rare plus cooked exactly how I asked, tender, flavorful. Came with mashed potatoes and corn, both solid. Started with a salad with feta, beets, and a vinaigrette that was light but still had presence. Had a lavender lemonade and hot tea to round it out both hit. And then the dessert... I didn't even take a picture, which says everything. Warm, thin chocolate chip cookie with ice cream, whipped cream, toasted nuts... one of those desserts you don't rush through. But honestly, what stood out most was the experience. It was one of those meals where the price almost becomes irrelevant because everything--from the ocean view to the pacing to the service--just works.
