    Hula pie

Popped in for a Friday lunch, and the scenery was amazing! Bright blue ocean with high waves crashing, beautiful. We both ordered the 2 for $35 lunch special and shared. We had the coconut shrimp that had 5 large shrimp with a tangy sauce and shaved cucumbers. We also had the rib and chicken plate. The ribs were excellent! I love Hawaiian mac, and it was very good. We also got the burger special, but it didn't arrive as stated on the menu. No brisket, no onion strings, and no mango, just a cheese burger with bacon. We ended with a slice of the Hula pie, which hit the spot! Excellent service, everything was exceptionally clean, and valet parking was a breeze.

Love me some Duke's! Been trying to get here since they reopened - so glad they have. Duke's has a great view of the ocean and the open-air Hawaiian style of the place is always so welcoming. Be prepared to pay $12 to valet- worth every penny in my opinion. You could also street park. Sat in the bar facing the Pacific. I had their classic Mai Tai and had 2 orders of their famous coconut shrimp. Absolutely stellar- big juicy shrimp and a perfect Mai Tai. Servers are adorable! Hard working and so warm. Loved how I was treated. Go and treat yourself! I did and I am so glad! That is all.

My wife and I came to Duke's for my birthday weekend and we loved it! Everything we ate was super tasty and delicious. Our favorite dishes were the herb and Mac nut crusted sea bass and the glazed ribs. Our server Jimmy was super nice and attentive as well. The location right on the water is beautiful, as the waves were literally crashing up against the window as we were eating. Although it's a "nice" restaurant, the prices are relatively reasonable. We would definitely return.

We visited the Duke's in Waikiki on our honeymoon 7 years ago, so it was fitting to come here for our anniversary while in town. The views can't be beat. It's right on the ocean. One thing to note is parking is all valet, as far as we can tell. It was worth it though to not have to worry. We were seated right next to the window, but all tables seemed to have good views. The staff could not have been nicer. They were so friendly and comped us an anniversary dessert. It was the Hula Pie and I'll be thinking of that pie for a long time! So good! I had a Mai Tai which was strong and delicious. We both split the ahi bowl and the fish of the day. Not one bad bite. We finished every last morsel. What a beautiful dinner to celebrate our anniversary!

The Bottom Line 4 stars: Nice vibe, food and drinks. Brings back memories of Waikiki Beach with a SoCal twist. Highly recommended! Location 4 stars: On the busy PCH in Malibu, CA, just across from Las Flores Canyon Road. Paid Valet Parking only. Venue 5 stars: Beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean from indoors and the outdoor patio. Indoor is a full serve restaurant that takes reservations via Open Table. Outdoors is a walk-in called the Barefoot Bar. You can get the full menu there as well. Service 3 stars: Friendly and helpful staff but not very attentive! Drinks 4 stars: Full bar and specialty drinks, beer (on tap and bottle), wine, soft drinks, tea and coffee. Duke's Mai Tai and Duke's Old Fashioned are pretty good. Food 4 stars: Hawaii-inspired modern American food. We started with the Crab Wontons and the Ahi Sashimi. We then had the Filet Mignon, the Fish Tacos, the Sautéed Mac Nut and Herb Crusted Fresh Fish and the Rib and Chicken Plate. All were excellent and highly recommended!

Go for the views!! Cannot beat having a nice meal on the water. The service was good, this restaurant is always busy so I recommend making a reservation in advance. The only downside is there is valet parking only.

Absolutely outstanding. Gorgeous inside. It was our first time in a very long time and were shocked at how beautiful this place is. So relaxing. Valet $10 Easy Peezy. John was our server, hi John !! Just a kind soul and a true professional. The food was excellent. Extremely fair on the pricing considering it's on the water. I was shocked. (all things considered nowadays.) Literally can't wait to go back. Just be aware that PCH is congested in certain areas because of the fires. I assume it'll be that way for years.

When in Malibu, this is a great, happy place for a celebration. The views are pretty good too. We were celebrating a college graduation and had picture perfect seating next to the Pacific Ocean. Table service was excellent. Our server was friendly and had help from many other Duke's servers. Ambience, well it's at the ocean. I had the seafood hot pot with lobster, which was a delicious choice with coconut curry sauce. Make reservations early! Parking is only valet, yet not too expensive, $12 Duke's Malibu: Recommended Bon appétit!

Had a lovely date with my husband here the other night. Made a reservation for a window seat, but when we arrived they told us it would be quite a wait for a window, so we said nevermind (although we saw quite a few open window seat tables, which was a little annoying). Our food was delicious. My husband ordered some type of seafood stew and I had the fish tacos. Decent portion size and everything was seasoned well. Best of all, our MaiTais were amazing!!! Strong, and served in an authentic tiki goblet. So much fun. The waves were crashing on the windows which was amazing, and our server was extremely friendly (petite girl with cute glasses on) I wish I could remember her name...must have been the Mai Tais :)

Duke is now open again after the fires. It's only been 3 weeks so I decided to give them some love by visiting this iconic resturant. Parking: valet is $10 after 4pm on weekdays (I believe $12 all day on the weekend) but there's parking along PCH. Reservations: Use open table vs calling. When you call, they told us that there were no tables avaliable. This is due to short serving staff (for now). Last seating is 6:45pm, but the kitchen closes at 8pm. Food: The mac hummus was so good, it was flavorful and creamy. It was beautifully presented with radish, cucumbers and carrots. It's my first time having it and it'll be ordering it again. My friend ordered the Rocket Salad and enjoyed it very much. Mains: I got the macadamia and herb fresh fish, which was Mahi for the evening we went. I love capers but capers can be a bit salty, so might want to request ez capers or in the side. The fish was fresh and flakey. It was delicious. It comes with broccolini and jasmine rice but I got the mac salad instead. The mac salad was ok, it wasn't as bold as the Hawaiian mac salad that I was used to, but decent. Drink: I ordered the Lavender Yuzu Lemonade. I really thought it would be purple for the Lavender syrup but it wasn't. Regardless of the color, it was refreshing and not too strong. Service: we had Matthew who was absolutely amazing and attentive. My friend had requested some modifications and a lot of paper napkins and he was chill and funny about it. He even apologized for the quality of the napkins. It was probably a joke, but he had us laughing every time he stopped by the table. Over all service was 5/5.

Duke's is BACK and better than ever. We went last weekend and had a great table with a view of the ocean. The food was great. We started with the coconut shrimp, then moved on to fish tacos and the macadamia nut crusted sea bass. Everything was good and prices were reasonable. We couldn't leave without the Hula Pie. We had a great server and enjoyed every minute of lunch!

We were so happy to be able to come back to celebrate my husband's birthday with dukes Malibu. It was too long but understandable with the mudslide and stuff. The staff was warm and welcoming as usual, very attentive as well. We were seated by the window where we had a perfect view of the waves and there were crashing beautifully. I wish I had taken a photo of that. We all enjoyed our food. The fish and chips seemed to have changed a bit, but was delicious.

Is brunch buffet back? That was the best!

    I went a week ago and they didn't :(

Do they still have happy hour?

    Is Brunch buffet back yet?

No, you don't need reservations but I recommend it for a large party. Also, if you want window seating.

Do you need to make reservations?

No, you can just walk in, and depending on when you go, be seated right away.

Sunday brunch is not back yet?

They have brunch but on a menu

    How much is valet?

    $10

    Complimentary cake on birthdays?

It used to be . I do not know if they offer it lately . We had our anniversary & he got us the cake . Call & ask them .

    Dogs allowed in the patio?

No.. and I find that RIDICULOUS.

    Is there a Happy hour?

    Yes 3:00pm to 6:00pm

Does Dukes require a Vaccine to enter?

They didn't ask us we wore our masks in till seated. The staff all wear masks

Do they provide any gluten free, dairy free menu?

There were gluten free and dairy free options but there was not a whole separate menu of those items.

Is this a good place to watch the fights with a group of friends?

Only if your group is no more than 4

Are dogs allowed in the outdoor seating section?

    No just service dogs

Is dukes doing their buffet yet?

    No due to covid

Are the tables outside distanced far enough apart for covid safety? Edit: I actually want to know if…

Yes. All restaurants have to follow the guidelines provided by the CDC.

Do you guys do bottomless mimosa brunch?

    Unfortunately they do not.

    How is kalua pork sandwich?

Can I bring baby here in a stroller or carseat?

Someone brought in their baby when I was eating here, but without a stroller. It's big enough where you can, though.

    Is the restaurant baby friendly?

Yes. I wouldn't hesitate to take a baby there. Note they have both indoor seating in the nicer part of the restaurant, and they also have a glass-enclosed outdoor seating area under umbrellas. The indoor seating can sometimes have a hefty wait…

Saw some videos on social media of their off the menu lobster caesar wrap-- and let me tell you in the video it had huge pieces of lobster but the wrap I received barely had any pieces of lobster and they were tiny pieces about half a penny each piece. It also dripped everywhere-- there was so much watery sauce it was making a pool in my container, all over my arms, and on the table. Not practical for eating and it was super disappointing seeing the large pieces of lobster they give to influencers and what they actually serve. Also it was super underwhelming in flavor. Would not get again. We also got oysters and those were way overpriced for mid tasting oysters. The ones at Whole Foods are better than this. I was expecting mind blowing and sweet oysters if they're going to charge nearly $50 a dozen. The uni was also extremely fishy and not creamy and succulent. It wasn't that expensive but it was mid. Lobster roll also had tiny portions of lobster that were rubbery. I expected it to be amazing for how much it costs-- again disappointed. The clam chowder might as well have been a roasted potato chowder. It was tan/brown colored and not creamy just grainy and full of potatoes. Didn't taste anything like clam chowder. The burger was decent just overpriced. Hard pass on this spot. All hype and not worth the $ to eat mid/disappointing food. Oh they also forgot our ice tea order and took forever to get someone to help us get it. Mehhhhhhh.

We also arrived early and confirmed our request with the hostess, making it clear that we were more than willing to wait for the next available table. Despite that, the hostess seated us anyway. After speaking with the manager, he and told us to enjoy a drink at the bar while we waited. A few minutes later, the hostess called us over again--only to seat us at a window table on the patio, surrounded by children, furthest away from the water, exactly the area we had said we didn't want. That second seating felt especially rude and almost intentional, as though we were being placed in the least desirable window table because we had spoken up. Whether that was the intent or not, that's how it came across. We were initially told the restaurant doesn't reserve window tables, which is why we arrived early and were happy to wait. The manager later contradicted that, saying window tables are reserved for guests who book months in advance and that, because we had only made our reservation a few days earlier, we were not prioritized. He then insisted my reservation didn't mention a window table or the main dining room, forcing me to pull up my OpenTable reservation to show him that it did. Ironically, we were seated only about 15 minutes after our reservation time. Waiting was never the issue--we simply didn't appreciate being seated twice after repeatedly saying we were happy to wait at the bar. The service itself was fine. However, our server introduced himself by saying he had been told we were "difficult," which was unnecessary. We also had to ask twice for him to confirm a food allergy, one of our drinks was forgotten, and we had to ask twice for the bread basket. Our server asked if we were celebrating anything, and we told him it was our anniversary. They didn't acknowledge it, which was completely fine--we weren't expecting anything special. It just made us wonder why they ask if they have no intention of acknowledging it. Overall, this was a disappointing experience. Poor communication, mishandling of a simple seating request, and inattentive service made what should have been a special anniversary dinner frustrating from start to finish.

Lucky's Malibu announces its impending failures via a badly designed imitation of the facade of the original restaurant grafted onto the cut and paste flat wall architecture of the far side of the Cross Creek Mall. Upon entry, the main dining room / bar demonstrated the ambient noise level of a 1940s German steel mill during an Allied bombing raid. There is zero intimacy, warmth or charm offered. in case you didn't know, very loud dining rooms are almost always a design / business choice. They promote stress, encourage the heavy drinkers who relish these types of environments (a choice that is good for the bottom line but not diners), and create rapid table turnover. Not a great combination for an alleged "fine dining" establishment. intimate conversation disappears after about 45dB and at 70dB people start to experience physical reactions (including higher cortisol levels, muscular tension and vigilance) that make customers want to get up from their table rather than linger over dinner. The food was "OK". My wife ordered lamb chops and I had a bone in New York. The prices were quite high, but not astronomical, assuming the meat had been better prepared. It was "OK". The appetizers were a disaster. Grilled peach and prosciutto yielded peaches that were not grilled, low quality grainy ricotta and mediocre prosciutto. Bland and over priced. The iceberg wedge salad was large but was bland and ungenerous, with the allegedly associated salad dressing and other assorted salad ingredients. Service? Adequate. Polite, but rushed. Our server was hurried and conducted "big smile" performative check- ins that felt as if they had no discernible purpose other than to move us through courses and turn tables. I always assume that this style of service is not the server's fault, but a management choice. I am also willing to admit that the server was likely unable to conduct anything close to a genuine interest in our dinner experience because of the noise. Lucky's in Montecito attracts a very different crowd. More professional and reserved. The night we were at the Malibu location, it seemed to attract a lot of obnoxious, rude and badly dressed people who were advertising their real or fantasized connection to "the industry" by wearing t shirts, shorts, hoodies or otherwise dressing like slobs. We were profoundly relieved to exit Lucky's. Not my idea of how to drop $400+
