I wanted to love this place. We had a good experience a few years back. Not this time. It was 4:30, mostly empty restaurant. The ambience is lovely, except for the huge overwhelming TVs. Our waiter was quite inattentive and borderline rude. He never stated his name but the server on the bill states Juan Carlos. He only had a couple tables. My whiskey ginger sour was ok, but it took a minute to get. The bread was absolutely scorched. The waiter. never acknowledged our request for water to be refilled (other waiters brought a bottle and left it at the table). He never asked if I wanted another drink and, the worst, took forever to bring the check when asked for it directly. Our food was meh. Grilled salmon bowl with fishy salmon and it stated farro but barely saw any. The zucchini noodles zoodles were fine. I should have taken pics of that. Came to Malibu for an event. Stopped at Ollo for dinner. We walked in and were seated. The first thing we noticed was the comfortable decor. The restaurant had a nice ambiance and the had nice contemporary music playing. We placed our drink order and asked for some bread. We got our drinks, but no bread. It was almost 20 minutes before were were served our requested bread. We were starting to get a sense that they were short on wait staff. Our waiter was nice but you could pick up on his stress. We started with the Cauliflower appetizer. It was delicious! Not what I expected but very good. I ordered the Beef Short Rib and Mashed Potatoes. My wife asked for the Porcini Mushroom Parpadelle pasta. We received or Beef Short Rib plate and a Beef Ragu Parpadelle dish. The waiter was nowhere to be seen, so she ate the dish she received. For desert we got the Torta Della Nonna. It was good, but the ice cream on the side was the highlight. Decided to give Olllo a shot while passing through Malibu -- it seemed like a cozy, niche spot for breakfast/brunch, and the vibe definitely delivers on that front. Chill atmosphere, trendy coastal decor, and a menu that leans into fresh, simple ingredients. I was hopeful. I ordered the breakfast burrito with pico de gallo, and... mixed feelings. First off, the pico came on the side, which threw me off. Not a huge deal, but it made the burrito look kinda sad and underwhelming on the plate -- like it missed its final styling check. That said, it actually tasted really good. The flavors were on point, the ingredients felt fresh, and it definitely wasn't greasy or overly heavy like some breakfast burritos can be. I miss the old (previous owner) ollo. I'm sorry, but trying to make this into something it's not- isn't working for me. Between olo and bui, we probably ate at each once a week. Every time I go to ollo now, I am disappointed. The cheese on the pizza never had puddles of Grease because it was good quality cheese, The menu was homie, varied, And pretty much everything was good. Now, we try new things only to feel it fall flat. Honestly- we pretty much only go there now for breakfast because that's pretty hard to screw up- and still feel disappointed. If I could give them a zero I would. I made a reservation for my family to celebrate my daughter's dance recital and approaching her 18th bday. Her grandparents arrived about 15 minutes ahead of us and were greeted with less than a warm welcome. When my family arrived i was told to be careful of the waiter and not to piss him off. Apparently he was not very gracious and seemed to be bothered when our large party arrived. The night just got worse from there. If we needed a few more seconds to decide when the waiter came around he raised his eyebrows or rolled his eyes and without notice went to another person. The teenagers were reluctant to ask him for anything being unsure of the reaction they would get. Several people in our party dislike their food and two people sent their plates back. My boyfriend's Osso Buco was inedible and he told the waiter to take it back. When the waiter asked if he'd like anything else, he said no thank you. I'm good and got an eye roll and an exasperated sigh from the waiter as he turned very quickly and stomped away. Then proceeded to walk over to the manager and other waiters point at our table and start whispering my boyfriend then said if you have something to say please come talk to me. The owner came over and asked what the problem was. My boyfriend said your waiter is very rude and condescending and the food was not good at all. In fact, it was in edible. The owner said my food is not inedible you just don't know food. My boyfriend cooks like a chef and has been to Michelin star restaurants and family owned an operated little holes in the wall that had better food and better service than this higher and expense Italian place in Malibu. My boyfriend then proceeded to tell the owner he could go into the kitchen and make the Osso Buco better since he does make it at home. The owner got very upset leaned over my head pointing at my boyfriend saying let's go talk outside. It took a long time to get the waiter to take our order, a long time to get food, had to remind them of my bar order multiple times and the food was ok but ordinary. He knew the menu inside and out, made excellent recommendations, and timed everything perfectly without ever making us feel rushed. Absolutely appalled by the experience at this restaurant on Mother's Day. Instead of prioritizing the comfort and health of paying customers, management chose to center the entire dining room experience around a massive dog and its incredibly inconsiderate owners. At one point, the dog owner was literally plucking hair off this 100+ lb dog at the table, rolling the fur into napkins, and stuffing it into a water glass. Completely disgusting and honestly felt like a health code violation. Watching dog hair fly around while people were trying to eat was bad enough. Meanwhile, an elderly mother seated nearby was visibly suffering from allergies and sneezing constantly while seated inches from the dog. After the daughter politely asked if the dog could be moved due to her elderly mother's allergies, several customers also suggested moving the dog to the outdoor patio area, (with other dogs) which seemed like a reasonable compromise for everyone involved. To be fair, after multiple complaints, the restaurant initially did remove the dog and its owners from the dining room. Unfortunately, they later returned after claiming "discrimination," and instead of calmly de-escalating the situation, the manager/owner proceeded to chastise the surrounding customers who had raised reasonable concerns about allergies, sanitation, and dining comfort. The situation escalated unnecessarily, and the restaurant handled it with hostility and zero professionalism. At one point, the manager/owner even brought up calling the police, though it was unclear to what point, despite customers simply voicing legitimate concerns about hygiene and allergies. Never mind the fact that the service itself was already terrible. Our table had not even been approached by a server for nearly 20 minutes, making the entire experience even more frustrating. The smug attitude from both the dog owners and management was unbelievable. Multiple people ultimately walked out because the environment became so uncomfortable and confrontational. There's a difference between being pet-friendly and completely disregarding sanitation, allergies, and the comfort of your customers. Sadly, this restaurant chose theatrics, confrontation, intimidation, and poor customer service over common sense and professionalism. read more

Located in a shopping plaza in Malibu right on PCH. Parking was plentiful and free. Came in for their HH, which is only available at the bar. Came in right from the beach, so their dress code is lax. The friendly staff was great through out the experience. We ordered a couple of drinks off of the HH menu to start. Decided to go with the calamari, pizza and arancini. Just remember that this is all from the HH menu, so portion sizes are smaller than a normal order. That being said, the pizza was not bad. It's a Margherita style pizza. It's a pretty small size so make sure you order other items if you are looking to get full. While waiting, for our food, we were given some bread to munch on. I think they were focaccia if I'm not mistaken with salt sprinkled on top. It's a nice little starter. The calamari was fine. It came with marinara dipping sauce and a lemon. It was nice and crispy. The arancini was pretty tasty also. Overall, the food was good, but nothing out of the ordinary. Their HH menu is not half bad. There should be things on there for everyone. The drinks were a little on the stiff side and a little off to me. But, the bartender was willing to remake anything if it wasn't up to snuff. I came here for a late birthday celebration for myself with family. We sat in the corner booth next to the fireplace. The ambiance of the whole place was lovely. The bar was very pretty looking and had a wide selection of choices for drinks. I got the Ollo scramble which was nice. The eggs were a tad on the unseasoned side but I digress. One of my family members got the Malibu Chop which was had too much blue cheese and the turkey was very plain. The service was great though. We came at the beginning of happy hour so it was slow and we had the place for ourselves which you can never complain about. The one thing I'll note that was my biggest gripe was that only one of the bathrooms was open while the other was closed. Not only that but multiple women went into the restroom at once so I had to wait till every single one cleared out even though it clearly stated it was for one person at a time. At one point right as we sat down (and we ate inside not on the patio), a runner accidentally dropped another nearby table's food-- chips, salsa whatever else--on the floor. And it just sat there and the entire time we ate lunch. People walked through it. Dogs were eating it. It was truly insane. One woman's dog started to pee as they were going outside. I mean; the dog came under our table and lifted its leg and she yanked it away...it almost peed on my husband's leg. The food was meh. I got the breakfast burrito. It was a little bland to be honest. My son got the cheese pizza which smelled and sort of tasted like tunafish...and it was...wet. Nothing like wet pizza to quench your thirst. My husband got a Caesar salad with added chicken, and this little weird piece of flat chicken showed up before the salad??? It was such a weird choice! It just sat there looking sad while he waiting for his salad. The hostess asked if she could get us anything while we waited for our food, which is super nice. We asked for some bread and she disappeared I guess to do another loop. It was also really strange seeing how slow the turnover was. People just sat at their tables without food, having already eaten, and just browsed on their phones. This is more of a public service announcement for restaurant goers. The restaurant wants you to leave. They have to be nice to you. The longer you sit there the more money they lose because they cannot turn the table over for a new seating. We stopped in for our first time this past Saturday for brunch and both had a great experience. Located in beautiful Malibu right off the PCH this shopping center always has a ton of free parking, which was really convenient given how most other restaurants in LA don't have as many free and available spaces. Service was fast and friendly and we were able to be seated right when we arrived for a 10:30 brunch. They have indoor and outdoor tables but most people choose to sit indoor, which was our choice as well. They have a very large menu filled with all sorts of great options. Eggs Benedict is my favorite breakfast dish so when I read all the positive reviews of their Crab Cake Benedict I knew I had to try it. I can confirm it was very good. The eggs were perfectly runny, and the crab cake itself had great flavors. We also ordered the Huevos Rancheros which came in a huge sized portion surrounded by one large tostada shell curved on the edges. That was a really nice touch because we used the shell to soak up the rest of the juices/food. Overall a solid breakfast option in Malibu. It was not as cheap as local diners but still not overly expensive, especially given the location. read more

IF THE MOTHER-DAUGHTER PARTY WHO WERE FORCED OUT OF OLLO ON MOTHER'S DAY SEE THIS, PLEASE SEND ME A PRIVATE MESSAGE. My husband is a civil rights attorney who specializes in disability rights, and he wants to represent you in a case against the restaurant and against the party with the dog. I was at the restaurant around lunchtime on Mother's Day when the incident happened that other reviewers have written about. I never leave reviews but I was so disgusted by what I saw that I had to write this review and try to find the people who were forced out of the restaurant and treated so unfairly. I also want to warn whoever reads this to NEVER give your business to this restaurant or any of the other restaurants they own. This is coming from a 20-year resident of Malibu and a long-time customer of OLLO. I and my family will never go back! After we paid and left, we ran into other patrons outside who also witnessed the incident and were troubled by it. Like I said my husband is a civil rights attorney and he regularly represents people with disabilities who own service dogs and have had their rights violated. That is NOT what happened on Sunday. The couple who came in with the service dog were vile and were only there to get attention and cause trouble... ON MOTHER'S DAY!!! The dog was dirty and very unhygienic. At one point, the dog shook himself off (like they do when they're wet) and there was dog hair flying everywhere. Just to clarify this dog was not wet, and dog hair was flying!!! I am a dog person and we have 3 dogs at home, but this was DISGUSTING! The poor woman with the allergies was sneezing repeatedly. She and her daughter were just trying to enjoy a Mother's Day lunch, but that all halted when an entitled couple came in the restaurant with a giant dog. This is at a restaurant where the tables are pretty close together. You have to walk sideways to get between the tables in the part where the dog was. The restaurant management eventually removed the dog and its owners, only after people complained. But a few minutes later, they cowered to the couple's threats and let them come back and sit right by the woman who already said she was allergic and was sneezing. As another reviewer said, the dog owner was scratching the dog, removing hairs from it and rubbing it on the table while people were eating a foot away. I wish my husband had been there. He would have stood up for the poor lady and let the restaurant know they were breaking the law. My mother, daughters, and I (trying to celebrate Mother's Day) were so uncomfortable we left most of our food uneaten and left the restaurant without ordering dessert, which we always do. MANAGEMENT DROPPED THE BALL! My husband says they probably gave in because service dog owners have a lot of protections under the law. But in this case, they wouldn't have those protections because the restaurant ignored an obvious hazard. Both the restaurant and the dog owners are liable. If anyone knows the lady who got sick from the dog, please have her reach out to me so I can put her in touch with my husband. He will fight for you and get justice!!! Edited to add: Instead of taking responsibility and trying to fix their terrible mistake, the restaurant is leaving itself fake positive reviews with curated pictures. IF I COULD LEAVE ZERO STARS I WOULD!! This place is so inconsiderate, I watched an elderly lady struggle and have allergies due to a big dog in the restaurant IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RESTAURANT!! I believe the lady's daughter ( this was on Mother's Day) asked about having the dog seated somewhere else due to her mother being ALLERGIC TO DOGS! The staff and servers did not want to accommodate at all! To witness an elderly lady going through a situation like that was sad. Both the mother and daughter were classy and polite, the dog owners tried to prove a point and kept the dog inside the restaurant! A few guest I notice even agreed with the dog situation saying how it is inconsiderate. Aside from the service being HORRIBLE they will not respect your wishes and health! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! Ollo is one of our go-to lunch and dinner spots since it is so close to home. The food is always fresh and delicious! They also have a full bar and decent selection of wines to choose from. Among my favorite dishes are the salmon pasta and the mushroom pizza! I recently had breakfast there, and Ollo never disappoints! The Ollo Scramble has mushrooms, spinach, onions and cheese all scrambled in to a large portion of eggs! I had to take home leftovers! I used to love this place. At one point in my life, it was the spot. The burger? Unmatched. The pasta? Absolute fire. I would crave it weekly. Back then, it was hands down the best burger and pasta I had ever had. But something has changed. I grabbed the burger to-go recently and it just didn't hit the same. It was decent. Not bad, just not memorable. I've always gotten it to-go so I don't think that's the issue. The pasta still had some flavor but it didn't smack like it used to. Maybe they switched the recipe. Maybe it's a different cut of meat since COVID. Either way, the magic wasn't there. That said, the place still holds up in other ways. The vibe is relaxing. The space is clean. It still feels like a Malibu staple that knows what it's doing. But the food used to feel like a reward. Now it just feels like a safe option. Shaded by a canopy of of Magenta Bougainvillea, Ollo, 23750 PCH in Malibu was a beautiful stop for an old fashion breakfast. I highly recommend you order the Olle Scramble when Luis come to take your order. The plate comes with boiled and then roasted potatoes that are lightly seasoned with Rosemary from fresh potatoes that are quarteted, a beautiful green salad that has a hint of a vinaigrette dressing and toast. My spouse had and 3 ingredient Omelet that was STUFFED with cheese, bacon and sausage. The Ice Coffee was of European quality. So, a beautiful patio, to ensure great service ask for Luis and the staff who service your table and amazing food, you cannot go wrong having breakfast at Ollo. read more

Drove two hours to this place, just to receive horrible service and pasta with not thoroughly cooked noodles and bland taste. It took the waiter about 20 minutes to ask us what we wanted to drink. Consecutively have to ask for what we needed instead of being approached. Bread came after the fact once we finished our appetizer which doesn't really make any sense. Outdoor seating was cute with the flowers. Other than that this restaurant didn't make us feel welcomed and comfortable. read more
