Good Food Stopped in for a drink and a bite after the beach. Duffys is located right at the boardwalk in the center of Myrtle Beach. It's a bar and the food is short order cook bar food, so it is not five star. But if you want some greasy spoon food a nice option for lunch at the beach. All cooked to order . More impressive than the food is the bar itself and location. It's probably a busy place on weekends but we were there for lunch on a Tuesday lol. Very nice folks working there also. This is the place right next to the Bowery bar. The food comes from here It was a week day so it was not too busy. Sat at the big table outside. Thomas was on point and took great care of us and made great suggestions. We got a couple shareables, fried pickles and fried cheese. Both really tasty and lots of pickles! I was a little hesitant about going to Duffy'a considering their slogan is "warm beer, lousy food, bad service". While the service side of that was partially true (bartenders were 50/50 on whether they were nice & friendly or taking the "bad service" joke as a serious recommendation), the atmosphere was that of a cool dive bar. The pickle chips were outstanding (anyone who knows me knows that this is a high compliment); they had the perfect ratio of pickle to crunch, weren't greasy, and came with a slightly spicy dipping sauce. They also came in a huge portion which was perfect for sharing. The bar also had a wide variety of light summery drinks (I opted for the nutrl seltzer), and the pool tables in the back were fun to play on! I claim false advertisement. I saw a sign that said hot beer, lousy food and bad service so had to try it. They lied. The staff were great, and so was my burger. You can't go wrong with onion rings, BBQ sauce and bacon on a burger. The hand cut fries were good too. My wife and daughter both liked the big daddy cheeseburger. And my other daughter and my son liked their smokey BBQ wings. It was neat seeing all the history and the photos on the wall. I don't drink so I can't vouch for how hot the beer was. Our waitress said the beer's still hot, so 1 out of 3 ain't bad, which made me laugh. I appreciate the advice on places to check out during our stay. I wouldn't mind coming back to hear the bounty hunters play live. This place is definitely worth a stop. And volleyball fans, check out their courts. Nice place. Funny decor. The service is fantastic! We were greeted right away at the door by the nicest gentleman. Very attentive. Answered all our questions. Was very knowledgeable. Very pleasant. Escorted us right away to our table and made several recommendations for drinks. Which we followed and they were great. If you like the dive bar scene this place is for you. I went with a friend who was craving a burger. It was recommended to us. I wasnt hungry. But when we got there their soda thing wasnt working (I was DD). I got a corn dog and later their soda thing was working so I got a Sprite. Drinks come in styrofoam or plastic cups. The fries were greasy or hard. I will say the burgers are huge 1/2 lb burgers. Dont look for anything special here other than its Alabama's house band spot. We stopped in after a morning on the beach since we know the place is a popular tourist spot. We have been coming to myrtle beach for over 20 years but have never been to Duffy's or the Bowery. Just a heads up...this spot is a place where they supposed to act like they don't care about you but in reality they take really good care of you. We enjoyed this vibe. We had some beers and ordered one of their half pound burgers. It was huge and tasted great. There were a lot of good food options. Another heads up- If you bring kids, they do allow smoking inside. If you love cigarettes and being in a closed in room with cigarette smoke, this is the place to be. The staff, cleanliness and service here deserve a solid 5 stars, but unfortunately I'm having to give 2 stars as there was no indication that this is a cigarette smoking optional bar. If there had been a sign at the entrance indicating this, we could've chosen a different place from jump. Too bad, as the bartenders are friendly and attentive. We did not smell smoke or see anyone smoking when we walked in. It was a rainy day today and we wanted a place to sit and have cocktails, eat lunch, and spend time with other vacationers. After we ordered our second drink, a group of four came in. Two sat next to us and 2 sat directly behind us at a small booth. Immediately asked for an ashtray and proceeded to light up all around us. I had just spent $100 next door on hoodies and gifts for family and I did not want to give them out reeking of stinking cigarette smoke. I picked up my things, left my fresh drink, and headed to the door hoping that the money I had just spent wasn't wasted. Please post a sign on the outside of your restaurant that this is a SMOKING establishment. We don't care who wants to smoke, but we'd like to be able to choose for ourselves whether we want our clothes, hair and gifts to smell like it. read more

I'm being graceous by giving this place a 2. And apparently it has a bad reputation. I think the location keeps it open. Another place that someone recommended was a 2 hour wait and duffys was across the street. And we were.tired, so we chose it by default. Our bad. When they said no wait we went in. The volume of music in such a small place was overwhelming, especially for dinner time. The waitress wasnt impressingly attentive. A couple times I had to wait to eat until she brought my drink. The food was average bar food. Definitely not what I would consider good seafood. The beer was good. Cant really screw that up, right? When I told the person that recommended the other restaurant that the wait was too long so we went across the street, her response was "oh no! Tell me you didnt go to Duffys" ! She laughed hysterically as I admitted "yes". I absolutely would not recommend this place. For a bill of close to $100 for 3 people for below average food and below average atmosphere! A-OK. You can't give a dive bar more than an average rating... it's just not right. I enjoyed my strong drink, polite service and really a good chicken sandwich with FRESH salty fries!! Nothing fancy at all. A ton of memorabilia on the wall and some good country music. We were told next store has live music at night. I read that someone said they were uncomfortable with the confederate flags- I could understand that but sometimes I feel like they don't even know what means they just display it as a sign of southern pride not necessarily the racist history south... I thought our burgers came with fries, sadly got back to the hotel to realize none there. 2 burgers and macaroni bites for $30 pretty expensive. I would like to go back, maybe eat inside next time. A unique place to eat. Food was good and pricing was fine. However, everyone there appeared to be smoking. Hard to breathe.

Our server was excellent. She was friendly and helpful. However, the food wasn't very good at all. After waiting about 45 minutes for our food, the fries were cold, there was entirely too much seasoning on the Cajun chicken wings, and my chicken fingers tasted like fried fish. Eating here was not worth the price at all! We were extremely hungry before eating here, and left completely disappointed and unsatisfied. Within hours of eating here my 16 year old daughter and I had severe heartburn and upset stomachs throughout the night. When we initially sat down our server told us there were some issues in the kitchen so all food items were backed up... After getting upset stomachs, I don't think they changed the cooking oil in their fryers and that's most likely why my chicken fingers smelled and tasted like fish. I would've given them 1 star had it not been for the excellent service of the server. My suggestion if you're looking for a good meal, is to keep walking a little further around the corner. After eating here, we walked toward the beachfront and we were extremely disappointed when saw a great restaurant right around the corner with happy smiling people eating. read more
