This is a traditional supper club and well worth searching out. My husband and I were driving to Milwaukee but knew we might be a bit late for dinner. So we stopped at this great little supper club. It was packed but we grabbed a drink at the bar and waited just a bit. It was Friday so it was fish fry night. They offered both broiled and fried so my husband got some of both. The fish was flaky and delicious. I had chicken stuffed with asparagus. It was pretty good but next time I'm going with the fish. (When in Wisconsin..., right?) Our waitress Evonne was outstanding. She was attentive and efficient and she was the one who suggested my husband try the fish both ways. I recommend this restaurant!! read more

I will say that the Friday fish fry is good. Had the fried cod so cannot attest to any other types. Another person I was with at the shnitzel and it was pretty good. I ordered the French onion soup and was immediately turned off by the looks of it. I tried a spoonful and it was about as bad as it looks. Honestly was just a subpar meal (minus the absolutely disgusting soup) and not inexpensive. The place itself looks like an old ski lodge cabin which I can appreciate. I had heard so many things about the place I maybe came in with higher expectations. The place is so cool- like a step back in time. Wood everywhere. Ducks everywhere. Cool theme. They were busy on a Friday night but we got a table. Used the online reservation system but still had to wait like 10 minutes?? Ordered food. Bread was delicious. Soups were very good. The duck egg rolls were incredible- definitely order those. The duck Wellington was okay for me. The chicken piccata was disappointing for sure for my wife. I'd come back but order fish fry or a steak. I'll come back but kind of overrated after my first experience. read more

We did not know what to expect but wanted the supper club experience for our anniversary dinner. The place looked small an unassuming on the outside and we were surprised how large it was inside with a warm atmosphere, decked out fir the holidays. Food was delicious! Thursday night is rib night. We were looking closer to Janesville but could not find on most menus anywhere else, so we went to Duck inn. The menu is very inviting but we still all ordered the rib dinner. We started with drink specials very good. Added the Parmesan crusted calamari way to small but so delicious. Then some salads spinach salad is a warm salad with sweet vinegar and bacon dressing very good also. My daughter had the duck vegetable soup. Very good sorta like a turkey w/ mashed potatoes and gravy in a bowl. The good kind very good. Then the Ribs, total silence as the carnage began. Everyone agreed these ribs were very good, without a word said except some grunts and mmms. For at least 3 ribs. My son was on his lower portion before he came up for air. This supper club is in a rural area a bit of a drive from the Geneva Lake area however it is worth the drive if you're looking for a new place to try. The interior is clean and nicely decorated with a casual ambiance. The menu has a good variety of items on it to choose from. If you can't decide, there is a duo or trio combo dinner where you can choose 2 or 3 items. I had the petite filet and scallops which came with a side & your choice of soup or salad. Next time I will try the duck. The server was speedy and attentive but not annoying. The dining room is decent size. Made online reservations but upon arrival they didnt seem to find them. We were seated in the bar area because we were told a large party of 13 were arriving and the dining room would be noisy. Special martini was great but was gone after 2 sips, small glass. Old fashioned was yummy. We started with crab stuffed mushrooms. Hardly any crab and way to much sauce on the plate. Cheese spread with prepackaged breadsticks. Standard salads with 2 store bought rolls and what looked like 2 Graham crackers. Had to use the same bread plate for everything which we didnt appreciate. We did not receive a relish tray. Prime rib $38, medium and medium rare. Medium rare was luke warm. Mentioned to young waitress she said "they cut the meat when the order is placed". ?? Anyhow she said she would have them reheat it. I was questioning how they could do that without over cooking it. She said it would be fine. Over 15 minutes passed I had to go look for our server. The meat by looks alone you could see it was cooked to well. Dirty dishes/glasses were not removed till the very end. Table was a mess. Ice cream drink was pretty average. read more

We went on a Saturday night in October thinking the demand might of died down. Nope! Still a madhouse. We had called and "put our name in". Still a 35 minute wait. Not a huge deal. 10 minutes for a waiter. 10-15 minutes for drinks No crackers and cheese despite asking Ordered Calamari for appetizer. Our first morsel of food came 50 minutes after being seated Calamari was great but super small portion for $16.95. So not worth it. Then all the food came out super quick. Not even time to finish the salad!! Really!!! Food: spinach salad with their dressing awesome. Baked onion soup was awesome per my husband. Maybe mozzarella on top not Swiss. Prime rib: We all had and it was great. Full of flavor and cooked perfectly! They charge $1.75 each for horseradish which is ridiculous. Mashed potatoes with caramelized onions were cold but they had potential! Drinks were good . Whiskey sour said it was old fashioned with egg whites and that was not the case. So the food is great. So let me sum it up: Ambiance- Love the vibe! As recommended, we dined in the bar area in these little booths. I would still recommend it! Drinks- good old fashioneds Food- FREE CHEESE SPREAD and Crackers! Relish Tray - $1.25 Get it! Duck Gizzards with spicy aioli - actually pretty good but not as spicy as anticipated Calamari - decent but could use a dipping sauce like the spicy aioli or marinara Cashew Duck - really good! The apricot glaze is a bonus Rainbow Trout - my least favorite even though YELP reviews strongly recommended it. Actually took the apricot glaze from the Duck and drizzled it over for flavor. Prime Rib - really tender and flavorful! Filet - the tables favorite of the night. Based on YELP reviews that say things are usually overcooked; we decided to order medium rare hoping for a medium. And that's exactly what we got! Tender, great flavor and enjoyed the seasoning and char. Salads- the tossed AND the spinach with hot bacon dressing were both really good! Desserts- Chocolate cake- must have come directly from the cooler because it was much better once it got room temperature. The cold cake made it seem dried out but once it warmed up it was really moist. It has a heavy icing which I would have preferred something lighter Grasshopper Cheesecake- looked great and tasted Ok but I think I would have preferred the drink instead Crème Brûlée - never disappoints Salted Caramel crust less cheesecake - THE WINNER! This was served with warm caramel and it was to die for So..... what would I order next time? We have enjoyed coming in to this restaurant on previous occasions. This time we brought friends, who have never been to the Duck Inn. My friend and I both ordered the Grecian Porkchops, which I specifically requested not be well done. Not only were they over cooked, but burnt on one side, which they attempted to hide by putting that side down. Never would I have expected to be served a dish like that at a restaurant the caliber of this one. Very disappointed, as were our guests (who will not come back). read more

Very disappointed..used to love coming here with family but after this visit I think we will find another supper club. The relish tray had moldy vegetables. My steak was supposed to be medium rare however it was severely over-cooked..the waiter didn't bother to check back before I was through so didn't bother mentioning it. That wasn't the worst part, I would suggest asking for a table in the front room instead of the bar area and save yourself from hearing some vulgar "locker room talk" from employees at the bar. The food presentation was fair at best. The most disturbing issue was that we had made a reservation fir 7:00 p.m. the reservation was confirmed and included a table number. The day of we also received a reminder of our reservation. Upon arrival at 6:45 p.m. we were advised that they do not take reservations, however, we would receive preference seating. We were not seated until 8:45, well after people that arrived after us were seated. The Duck Inn was practically empty before we were seated at a table in the bar. So much for their reservation app. Once seated the service quite slow, especially since the suppet club was practically empty. Great food and service, we like to try different Supper clubs and this one does not disappoints. It gets very crowded so i suggest making an early reservation. An excellent find in Elkhorn! There is a reason this quintessential Wisconsin-style Supper Club -- in the middle of nowhere -- has withstood the test of time. The food is EXCELLENT. Classic cocktails and cocktail inspired desserts abound. The Saturday night we visited the restaurant was crowded and service suffered a bit, but once the appetizers came out, the meal paced perfectly from there on. Outstanding value for the reasonable prices. PRO-TIP: They do not take reservations, but you can call ahead to have your name put in their register book so you can be seated before walk-ins. From photos, I was expecting a much smaller establishment -- this place is actually fairly huge. We were lucky enough to be there on prime-rib night and it was the best I'd had in a long time. Went here based on several people recommending it. The escargot is snails in unseasonably breadcrumbs and butter, yuk, and I love escargot which is easy to prepare. Spinach salad was more cold dressing than spinach. The duck "namesake dish" tasted deep-fried and served with sauces that appeared to be out of the can pie filling. The trout almondine was Parmigiano crusted trout with almonds on top...not bad, hence the two stars, but not trout almondine either. Cute environment though. read more

This is an old school supper club. Nothing fancy. The service was really slow. We sat without drinks for a long time and It took forever to get our soups and salads. I had the beef tips and noodles and it was pretty good. Unfortunately didn't have any cocktails but they looked good. I would definitely give this place another shot if I'm in the area. I have been here several times but this last time we had reservations for 7pm got there at 650 didn't get seated until 800 while others who came in after were seated before us. The girl at the front desk was rude and could care less. Unorganized front desk that keeps reservations on a yellow legal pad. Everyone there seems to be burned out and have no interest in being in the service industry and act as if they are doing you a favor. Management blames the staff instead of making a remedy. Food is always consistently great but the service there gets worse after every visit with my bill always in excess of $300.00. read more

HUGE Disappointment Our group of 6 was looking forward to our first time at DI. We made a reservation at 6 pm on Sunday. We didn't get seating at our table until 7:45. We were not offered an appetizer, drink or an apology. Once seated, the service was good, although they did miss serving bread, and a couple of sides we ordered, they were also out of a few things. I felt bad for the servers, there didn't seem to be anyone in charge, no manager. In fact, there was a family seated near us, two couples with three boys and a drunk uncle. The more he drank the louder he became and the boys were free to climb the fireplace trying to grab duck decoys, it was pretty chaotic. For the price point, I definitely would have expected mediocre at best, it was a fail. Very solid Wisconsin Supper Club. Went there on a Saturday night for the prime rib and they were out! It was 7:30 and they were out! That's against Wisconsin law I think? Almost as bad as running out of fish on Friday night fish fry. They honored our reservation with only a few minutes wait which was great since they were slammed. No doubt most having prime rib. Very good service from an over worked server who had way too many tables. Drinks were a good pour and so inexpensive. Wine was okay. So I got a porterhouse and it was average at best but maybe I'm just saying that since I didn't get my you know what! The duck soup was great. Stopped in on a snowy Sunday night. It is a nice supper club with beautiful fireplace. Everything was decorated nicely with Christmas decorations. I had the pick two with filet and fried shrimp. We just dined here with friends to show off our "gem" of a supper club just down the road that we have been going to for years. The service was poor at best, we identified a live insect on one of the plates containing shrimp. No apologies, no compensation, simply indignant behavior. We felt like we were being accused of the issue. The edible meals of fish were pedestrian. The people at the table next to us also were complaining about the quality of food. A party of over-indulging people were so loud in the dining area, we made an exit as soon as we could. This place has slid significantly, we will NOT be returning, and we will express ourselves to all our local friends so they might avoid a similar circumstance. Get there before the rush! We got there pretty early, yet the waitress took a LONG time getting drinks and took her time coming back for our order. She was then so caught up in her other tables that it took asking three times to get a refill. The food was delicious, but it's really hard to enjoy that expensive dinner when service is so slow. Worst experience we've had at a restaurant. We have been to the Duck Inn several times with great service and great food. Have no idea what the major malfunction was tonight but here we go. Had 6:30 reservation did not get seated till after 7, no biggy. Ordered drinks and after the drinks were served ordered our meals. Meals came to the table over an hour after we ordered and after a considerable time after the salads and soup. Prime ribs were barely warm and the steak was rare when ordered it as medium and also barely warm. The other two meals were good. When we complained the owner came over no apology just asked"what do you want me to do, rewarm the food or comp the food".We decided the comp and he took the cold meals and comped the cold meals.Never apologized, no explanation, no sorry for your inconvenience here is a desert or drink, NOTHING. Again never had a problem there till tonight. Will definitely have second thoughts about eating here again. read more
