While I'm definitely more of a traditional donut person, I'm raving about Duck Donuts for the experience. They have fancy flavors here but what really stands out is that the donuts are always hot, fresh and made to order. They are all actually the same donut base, which is more of a cakier type of donut. We ordered all of the fan favorites plus a few extra. To be completely honest, many of them were way to sweet for my liking but it was for the whole family and the kids sure enjoyed them! The best part was being able to watch them assemble each donut. How fun! read more

I've never heard of Duck Donuts before until I was with a friend who lives 5 minutes away.... we decided to go probably about a week after its opening on a Saturday late afternoon around 4pm and the line was out the door- literally. The place isn't big at all, and especially due to COVID, a lot of patrons were waiting outside after their order. The place is very simple with a straight shot to the register. For those who aren't familiar with Duck Donuts, the donuts are made FRESH and PLAIN. It comes straight out the oven and is MADE TO ORDER. Whatever you order, the donuts are made in front of you- icing, toppings, etc, so you bet your ass your donuts are "fresh and made to order". The dough to the donut reminds me of an apple cider donut you'd get on a nice fall day- the ones you get at Apple picking while holding your pumpkin spice latte, if you're basic. They're small in size and super light and fluffy. The icing isn't TOO sweet so having a whole donut to yourself will ease you guilt of eating a whole donut. When we were there, they were giving out a free medium sized coffee (pecan flavor, if I remember correctly) with purchase. Not sure if this is still going on, but the coffee smelt delicious. If you're bringing kids, it's fun to have them watch the staff make the donuts behind the glass, and that area is really the only "dirty" area I saw. Somehow with all the toppings all over the counter, the place still looked organized and clean! I recommend coming here to try if you haven't already. Peanut Butter Paradise is a clear standout, while the Lemon/Raspberry Sunrise was a clear miss on flavor and had an artificial taste. Otherwise, it's really hard to go wrong. I found that the donuts are fine the next day stored in their box and should be reheated for 10 seconds for optimal enjoyment. Having just opened this past weekend, lines are still long at peak hours and wait times can range from 15-30 minutes. It's a small price to pay considering the donuts are made to order and served pillowy warm dripping with melted glazes and crunchy confessions. Speaking of prices, I knocked a star because of the expense. I'll only visit on occasion at 2$ a pop compared to similar competitors like Sandy Pony, Fractured Prune, and more locally Glaze Donuts. This is one of the best donut shops I have been to since I joined the Yelp community! Your order literally goes from the fryer to the box and then each donut is masterfully prepped to your request! It took me more time to pick which flavors I wanted than it did for them to fry, decorate, and box my order. The smell of freshly prepared dough hits you from the moment you open your car door in the parking lot. The customer service was also top notch. They gave me great recommendations of top sellers and even suggested some of their favorite custom flavors. For the best experience, I strongly recommend that you eat them hot before driving away. They also have a full menu of coffee (iced, hot, or handcrafted) and milkshake options. I cannot wait to go back for my next round of Duck Donuts! read more

A half dozen costs ya $11.59. When I went the line wasn't long, but expect to wait around 10 minutes for the crew to put together your order. This place is addictive...even for adults. Everything is made right in front of you and is warm and delicious. You can even create your own!

Nice place, on arrival, but the station could be cleaner. It was my first time there, lots of flavors to choose from, and the young lady was patient. I was able to reduce the icing and toppings, it seemed too sweet for me & they did it, no problem, made the right choice on that. Toppings are different, & the donuts are the same, cake like . I hear you can watch them make the donuts, but I missed that part, It wasn't a big deal, donuts were warm but messy. The icing melts all over each other, crumbs falling off, I couldn't drive and eat them, so by the time I ate them, it tasted weird cold. First pretty rude service. No one greets you. Ok. Then I step to the counter to order and smile and say hello, and they just ask what I want to order. Ouch. Off to a bad start. Mean service aside let's talk about the donuts. I came here after googling "best donuts in NJ". I have never heard of Duck Donuts but the photos were really good and the reviews favorable. This is different from most donut shops. They have nothing on display. You look at a plethora of letter sized papers with photos of what they offer. Turns out, they all start with a plain donut that they top according to what you want. There are no flavored donuts or filled donuts. Just plain donuts with toppings added. so no jelly filled or Boston Cream!! I bought a bunch of varying types. So I was so excited and rushed to my car and couldn't wait to try them. They basically are yellow cake donuts that are super warm and soft with no bite, chew, or density at all. They taste like a store bought donut like Entenmann's that you stuck in the microwave too long. The chew of a donut is crucial and this has none! So bummed. I really think this came out of a microwave. Every donut I ordered was hot, it was an off hour, and I was the only one there. No chance they were all fresh out the oven. Each donut came out to $2.10. In my opinion, not worth it. The donuts look nice but that's about it. Good for the 'gram not for the sweet tooth. They just don't offer any texture or real flavor profiles that wow. Staff pleasant but really needs training. When 1 asked the price if 1/2 dozen the young man said 6 . Wow I thought cheap ! Dozen I asked 12 he said yes? He rang me up at saud $15 and change I said what happened to $6?, he said that's how many in a 1/2 , my response that's not what I asked you. We have tried Duck Donuts in VA (before I cut out gluten) while on vacation and were so amazed by the taste and personalization. Fresh doughnut to order is like a craziest thing! They have been in Paramus for over a year now and still just as great. My hubby can't get get enough! The doughnuts are their best items. The cake pops fall apart easily (kids tested). The coffee is ok at best. I've tried Duck Donuts from PA, and it was absolutely fabulous. For some reason, the Paramus location does not hit home for me. If you're a first timer, I recommend getting a single, plain donut with your order. The donut by itself is delicious- pillowy, warm and dense at the same time. It's a treat to have a plain donut from here because the toppings and glazes don't add much. The toppings and glazes are plentiful, but the menu is overwhelming. There is no central menu- just leaflets to flip through. This can be a pain in the butt if there's a line. Another thing that irked me is that the box had vanilla glaze all over the sides and bottom. I ended up wiping it down with a napkin, but it didn't help much. I hope the employees will be a little more careful when handing the box over while wearing gloves they dipped in. The store is very clean, and there was an employee sanitizing the seating area. I'd recommend it if you want to get creative, but at $12 for a 1/2 dozen, I'd prefer to head over to Glaze in New Milford. read more

The donuts were warm but extremely soggy, they soaked in the oil. Toppings were tasty though. For 20 bucks you can get a dozen a little crazy but to be honest you get what you paid for it honestly seems worth it.
