I was having coffee nearby and one of the other customers told me about Hands Down Cookies. More specifically, he told me about the smashed chocolate chip cookie. I was sold on the texture and hint of salt. The shop is clean and modern, gentleman behind the counter was friendly and professional. The smashed cookie was fresh out of the oven. $4 for a decently sized cookie. I showed some willpower and waited until I got home to eat it. Let's just say, it was gone in less than a minute! Absolutely delicious! Maybe I would have gone for a touch more salt but it was a great cookie. I would certainly return. read more

I feel over the years that my fans have not quite understood the quality, range and experience of my sweet tooth. I once through a disco at nabisco. I'm well known in Girl Scout cookie circles across the country, for all the wrong reasons. Cookies show up out of nowhere at my door every year at the holidays and ridiculous sums of money are withdrawn from my brittle bank account without my knowledge. Don't know how, should probably care but don't. I take life seriously but not too seriously. I take myself seriously but not too seriously. That my friends is what I'm coining the Serious Sanity Scale. Serious Sanity Scale in a nutshell. The ideal overachievers of folks take themselves seriously and life seriously. However, they don't take themselves or life too seriously. This is a key difference, one to think about, I don't have the time to define it. I care about it enough to present but not to describe. Then there are others, who don't take themselves or life seriously enough. A crowd that wouldn't even know they were within a crowd of similar individuals. There are some that strive or pretend to be like this, but this style of living is innate, if you ask me. And it is typically temporary, like the tubbyness of my tummy. Or so I try to convince myself. It's been years. When will it disappear. Where are my abs. Underneath? Or uncapturable. Stop it tubby nobody cares about the never ending lint in your bustling belly button. Anyways, back to cookies. I kuddled up with the Keebler leprechaun for 4 straight semesters abroad in Northern Ireland. We basically lived at Sainsbury's grocery. He still calls me hear and there, good guy, the reason I'm known as El Grande Fudge Lover. I was the first man to call Amos, famous. Nutter Butter was my nickname in HS. I dated Mrs. Fields until I tasted her overly sugary mess of a cookie. My pet mule paco's favorite toy is my life size Little Debby doll... anyways. Hands Down Cookies is hands down a great addition to Bergen County. Sweets make me sweat. They get me antsy. Butterflies in the tummy. Bite the lip energy. Eye contact so strong that both parties feel they've violated each other. Ya feel me? Anyways... get the chunkier chocolate chip not the thinner one. The chunker? 9.2. Yup. So chocolatey, so tasty. Have confirmed this over multiple tastes, tried and true. They have a different few everytime I end up going. Some duds but a lot of studs, such as the apple crumb punk in the image I blessed you with. I hope they get a ton of business but I'm usually the only one in there. I do go at odd hours so maybe I'm unaware of their popularity. What am I doing with my life. Who am I? What will I become... all things I'll focus on at another time. My focus right now is on getting YOU, my lovely reader, out to Hands Down Cookies on Goffle Road. A truly great and unique cookie collection. Linguini leaves you semi-entertained but fully-educated. read more

I had made a plan to drive to Hawthorne, New Jersey, and when I do such a thing, I typically pick an establishment to eat and an establishment for a dessert item. My dessert item on this trip was Hands Down Cookies. The selection was maybe 8 to 10 different flavors of cookies. If I remember correctly, there was a chocolate chip. There was a snickerdoodle . There was an oatmeal. I chose a lemon cookie and a blueberry Crumble cookie to go because I knew I would be snacking on the drive home that I expected to be at least two hours. (I got lucky and it was only an hour and a half. However, I probably spent $60 in tolls ha ha). as for the cookies themselves I don't really have much exclaiming to do. They were fine tasty. lemon in the lemon cookie. blueberry in the blueberry cookie ,definitely fresh, definitely a nice well-made cookie item. read more

How exciting is this?! A cookie spot in Hawthorne that makes fresh baked cookies! It was their soft launch opening today and we tried out several of their cookies, in fact all but 2 they had to offer. I'll start off by saying I never met a chocolate chip cookie I didn't like. However, don't let that sentence fool you. These chocolate chip cookies have some junk in the trunk.! Forget about the flat microwave style baked cookies you can get another quick establishments, these are certainly screaming, fresh baked coziness on a fall day. They may take you back to your grandmothers kitchen, these are surprisingly made by a young woman who is clearly just born with talent. I won't spoil the surprise on any of the other flavors, but keep the words divine decadent delicious in mind. I have a feeling your tongue is going to be needing those descriptors when you sync your teeth in. read more

Gluten-free reviewer here, I have to say that these gf chocolate chip cookies are giving me life. It is SO hard to find gf desserts that even come close to the real thing and wow these are the best gf cookies I've had since having to eliminate gluten. You would never know they were made any differently. Their texture is soft and chewy and are rich without being too heavy or sweet. In terms of service, I am even more impressed than the cookies themselves. I accidentally ordered regular chocolate chip cookies and paid a crazy amount to have them delivered only to find that they weren't gf once delivered. I was so upset and decided to drive to their store to see if I can exchange them. They were so nice about my mixup and kept apologizing to me for MY mistake! They also gladly gave me the gf ones I needed for no additional charge and let me keep the regular ones which I was able to give to a friend. I can't recommend this place enough. The staff and cookies are just out of this world and I will definitely being ordering from them again and again read more

So, I was investigating what are the best cookies in Northern NJ? I was so tired of the chemical taste of the popular cookie chains. Let me tell you; these are the "Hands Down" best cookies that I have ever had. Shhhhhh....Don't tell my Mom. I do not see how anyone would not absolutely love these cookies. I got a variety of cookies, each equally as delicious and Yummy as the next! These cookies are just PERFECT. I included a picture, but please excuse the half eaten S'mores. The owner, who was there was absolutely so sweet and Lovely. I give this place Perfect 10 out of 10. read more

Someone brought me a few different types of cookies so I'm not sure how the ambiance or service was, but the cookies were spectacular. I loved the lemon cookie with some sorta filling (this one was surprisingly my favorite). Snickerdoodle had the perfect amount of cinnamon. The chocolate chip with an Oreo in the middle was also amazing. Each cookie was perfectly baked. I can't wait to try more. I ate them so quickly that I forgot to take a picture. So the new cookie place in town opened! I stopped and got 1 cookie of each and brought them home for the family to try. Each cookie was better than the last! We each had our favorites. Mine was the crispy yet soft chocolate chip cookie- outstanding chocolate chips. My daughter liked the Oreo topped cookie saying it was the perfect outside crispy inside soft. The snickerdoodle was cooked perfectly. We also got the oatmeal with choc chips and the seasonal pumpkin. They were all delicious! Addicted!!!!! These cookies are exceptional. The amazing smell that hits you when walking in makes mouths water. The homemade cookies are superb. Best I have ever had. Thick and hearty with plenty of chips, toffee bits, oreo pieces etc. in each cookie. You can tell the ingredients are top notch. These are great for parties, holidays, gifts or a simple afternoon treat. I think we have tried each and every cookie so far and all are simply the absolute best. We always love seeing what new cookies flavors will be added to the rotation. Staff is super helpful and the owner is a very nice local mom who does the baking in the store so the cookies are always fresh! read more

The Toffee Cookies were amazing! Chocolate chip was good as well. My personal preference is to have the cookie a bit thinner than a thick middle. Feels more cake than cookie. Nonetheless, service is great and id definitely order again. read more

They were quick to get me my cake as well, which was nice. This Crumbl is usually pretty fast with service :). Which is nice because there isn't much standing room in the store. The place itself is clean as well. I would recommend going here if you are going to Crumbl, but I will say the treats are very sweet, so be wary of that if you are sensitive to sugary foods.

It takes real courage to start a business, especially when it's fueled almost entirely by passion. Yes, the hours can be a little challenging, but it's absolutely worth making the trip. In my opinion, these are some of the best cookies you'll find anywhere. What makes Half Baked so special is the creativity. One week you might find Lemon Blueberry, Oatmeal Raspberry, Pignoli, or Three-Color Cookie creations. It's genuinely fun to check the website every Tuesday to see what she's dreamed up for the week--though she occasionally surprises everyone with off-menu specials. And the Dulce de Leche cookie? It instantly transports me back to Argentina . Rich, nostalgic, and absolutely delicious. If you enjoy supporting small businesses and appreciate handcrafted baking, Half Baked deserves a visit. You can taste the passion in every bite.

I tried two of their fan favorites: the Crumb Cake cookie and the Half Baked Chocolate Chip. If you're someone who loves chunky chocolate chips, this place is definitely for you. What stood out to me most was the texture. The cookies were incredibly soft, which is exactly how I like them. The shop itself is small and geared more toward quick pickup than hanging out. There isn't any seating, but that's not really the point here. You're coming for the cookies, and they deliver. Another thing that stood out was the owner, who was incredibly sweet and welcoming. It's also great to see that they offer a lot of customization options for special orders, making it easy to see why they have such a loyal following. If you're a cookie lover and haven't checked them out yet, Half Baked is absolutely worth a visit.

I USED to highly recommend this place to my friends and family because of their danish. My co-workers and I luv their danish so much that I USED to drop by before work and bring it. I would wait for them to open around 0630 and buy a few danish. ONE DAY, I bought a dozen of Danish and the OWNER gave me attitude. He told me that I should've called the day before. He said now he has to make another batch for his other customers because I almost finished it all. His attitude was not right at all. Why would you tell your customer that? Instead of being happy that someone bought a whole bunch of your product so early... he was the opposite. The very thing I recommend in this place is their DANISH ONLY. Other products including customer service (OWNER) are dry and stale (esp cupcakes)

My favorite was the Crushed Reese's PB but the others were mediocre. The Dubai Chocolate Cookie had a very artificial chocolate flavor and we couldn't even finish it. I understand the prices are high since the cookies are very large and are labeled as homemade, however I was disappointed with the flavor and quality. Service was friendly and welcoming. They a diverse variety of gourmet donuts. The only problem I had was having to choose because I wanted to explore them all. These are a couple of the donuts I selected: Maple Bacon: Originally, I was hesitant about combining a breakfast meat with a pastry. As soon as I took my first bite, I instantly fell in love with this unique creation. It had a sweet and salt taste. If you decide to try the maple bacon, you'll have to wait until the weekend because it isn't available Monday through Friday. Ring Ding: This is identical to a Hostess Ring Ding. The inside is plentifully filled with chantilly cream. It is rich and very sweet; supplementing a glass of milk is highly recommended. There is a small dining area, which seats about 6-8 customers. There is a decent amount of parking in the front and back of the strip mall. If you have a sweet tooth, this is the perfect place. Only on their classic donuts but to my surprise all of the classic donuts were so good, although I did want to try some of their signature flavors too. This shop is small and has a couple of tables to sit down at. They have hot drinks available along with a fridge for cold beverages to purchase. The lady who assisted me was so sweet, so friendly and it was nice to come all the way from the city and be greeted with such lovely hospitality. She was working by herself and she had a couple of other customers waiting, but made everyone feel like a priority. She was a natural professional lol. The prices were quite pricey, which each donut flavor having its own price, my box of minis with tax and tip were about 40 bucks! Although I can't complain because I got a box free. I also can tell my donuts were freshly made with quality ingredients and the flavors are true to its donuts name. Although my visit was really for the banana foster, my favorite turned out to be the cannoli. They nailed that donut true to its original interpretation of what a cannoli is but made into a donut. My daughters loved the flavors of their selections although the strawberry cheesecake was a bit sweeter than she expected and liked. A bit overwhelming is how she put it. She would have been satisfied with just the mini size. Overall I think the next time I'm in town I may stop by for a half of dozen of minis because of the prices and because some flavors were better than others. I also wouldn't mind trying some of the signature donuts. So yes make a visit because it worth one. Two thumbs up and a Happy Yelping!
