I was sold on the texture and hint of salt. The shop is clean and modern, gentleman behind the counter was friendly and professional. I'm well known in Girl Scout cookie circles across the country, for all the wrong reasons. Cookies show up out of nowhere at my door every year at the holidays and ridiculous sums of money are withdrawn from my brittle bank account without my knowledge. I kuddled up with the Keebler leprechaun for 4 straight semesters abroad in Northern Ireland. We basically lived at Sainsbury's grocery. He still calls me hear and there, good guy, the reason I'm known as El Grande Fudge Lover. I was the first man to call Amos, famous. Nutter Butter was my nickname in HS. I dated Mrs. Fields until I tasted her overly sugary mess of a cookie. My pet mule paco's favorite toy is my life size Little Debby doll... anyways. Hands Down Cookies is hands down a great addition to Bergen County. Sweets make me sweat. They get me antsy. Butterflies in the tummy. Bite the lip energy. Eye contact so strong that both parties feel they've violated each other. Ya feel me? Anyways... get the chunkier chocolate chip not the thinner one. The chunker? 9.2. Yup. So chocolatey, so tasty. Have confirmed this over multiple tastes, tried and true. They have a different few everytime I end up going. Some duds but a lot of studs, such as the apple crumb punk in the image I blessed you with. I hope they get a ton of business but I'm usually the only one in there. I had made a plan to drive to Hawthorne, New Jersey, and when I do such a thing, I typically pick an establishment to eat and an establishment for a dessert item. My dessert item on this trip was Hands Down Cookies. The selection was maybe 8 to 10 different flavors of cookies. If I remember correctly, there was a chocolate chip. There was a snickerdoodle . There was an oatmeal. I chose a lemon cookie and a blueberry Crumble cookie to go because I knew I would be snacking on the drive home that I expected to be at least two hours. (I got lucky and it was only an hour and a half. However, I probably spent $60 in tolls ha ha). as for the cookies themselves I don't really have much exclaiming to do. It was their soft launch opening today and we tried out several of their cookies, in fact all but 2 they had to offer. I'll start off by saying I never met a chocolate chip cookie I didn't like. However, don't let that sentence fool you. These chocolate chip cookies have some junk in the trunk.! Forget about the flat microwave style baked cookies you can get another quick establishments, these are certainly screaming, fresh baked coziness on a fall day. They may take you back to your grandmothers kitchen, these are surprisingly made by a young woman who is clearly just born with talent. I won't spoil the surprise on any of the other flavors, but keep the words divine decadent delicious in mind. Gluten-free reviewer here, I have to say that these gf chocolate chip cookies are giving me life. It is SO hard to find gf desserts that even come close to the real thing and wow these are the best gf cookies I've had since having to eliminate gluten. You would never know they were made any differently. Their texture is soft and chewy and are rich without being too heavy or sweet. In terms of service, I am even more impressed than the cookies themselves. I accidentally ordered regular chocolate chip cookies and paid a crazy amount to have them delivered only to find that they weren't gf once delivered. I was so upset and decided to drive to their store to see if I can exchange them. They were so nice about my mixup and kept apologizing to me for MY mistake! They also gladly gave me the gf ones I needed for no additional charge and let me keep the regular ones which I was able to give to a friend. I can't recommend this place enough. Someone brought me a few different types of cookies so I'm not sure how the ambiance or service was, but the cookies were spectacular. I loved the lemon cookie with some sorta filling (this one was surprisingly my favorite). Snickerdoodle had the perfect amount of cinnamon. So the new cookie place in town opened! I stopped and got 1 cookie of each and brought them home for the family to try. Each cookie was better than the last! We each had our favorites.
