My friends have suggested me coming here several times. I finally decided to try out Duck Donuts for the first time ever. I went on a weekday and it was not busy. It took me about 5 minutes to write down how I wanted to customize the donuts. I ordered one dozen to share with my friends. When the donuts were finished, I quickly took my first bite. It felt warm and soft, tasted cakey and sweet. The icing was slightly sticky while the donut was warm, but will harden up as it cools down. I like that the donuts tasted fresh, moist, fluffy, and chewy. It's not your typical donut from a grocery or a donut shop. I liked the chocolate and peanut butter icing. The donut base, toppings, and icing are all good. These donuts can be pretty tempting to eat more than one, and you should eat these donuts right away while they're warm. It's definitely not your standard kind of donuts. I don't consider them as donuts to be honest. It's like a sweet fluffy fried cake with icing and toppings on top. I'd say give it a try for a different kind of experience. read more

So I made a mistake and placed large order for a team meeting with a competitor, who called me 15 minutes before supposed pickup time to say they couldn't fulfill the order. So I went to duck donuts who apologized for their competitor and that my order would take a few minutes and 15 minutes later I had everything I needed. I am VERY disappointed in how this establishment has grown down hill. The wait time has increased DRASTICALLY and there is no known cause as to why. I don't see many smiling faces anymore when I walk in. Nor have I been greeted the past few time. This past Sunday when I ordered at the register, I was told it would be a 2 HOUR wait. I was so confused, I asked to speak to the manger and she had told me that they are really understaffed. But I saw at least 5 people working. Then, when I had gotten my donuts, they were the wrong ones! After 2 HOURS of waiting, my donuts were made incorrectly. I asked to speak to the manager AGAIN! And when I told her my donuts were made incorrectly, she told me it would be another 30 MINUTE WAIT to get the right ones. I asked her why and she said that's how it is that if I want my correct donuts I can wait or leave with the ones they made. I had asked her what her name was but she refused to give it to me, and she wasn't wearing a name tag so I couldn't get it any other way. I had I was so upset because normally they were on top of all the orders. But I was so frustrated that I took the incorrect donuts and walked out. Out of frustration I had realized after I left that I didn't have my drinks that I paid for. So I had turned around and when I got there the door was locked! I'm a matter of 5 minutes, the door had been locked. I knocked on the door multiple times and the SAME LADY just stared at me not even moving a muscle. Very upsetting. read more

I have only heard great remarks about this donut shop from my friends, so I decided this was definitely a place to try. Prior to my experience, I had only eaten at a specialty donut shop one other time. The Fractured Prune was quite excellent, but sadly went out of business. Looking for a new donut store to fill the hole that Fractured Prune left, I ventured out to Duck Donuts. Walking in, the menu was easily understood. You could select a frosting, topping, and drizzle. If you have no idea what would taste good together, they offer suggestions that you can also order. I got a peanut butter frosted donut with chocolate drizzle and a vanilla frosted donut with sprinkles. In contrast to high end cupcakes, the donuts were only 1.30 each which I would consider relatively inexpensive for the quality of the donut. The donuts were freshly made- you could watch them dunk your donuts into the warm frosting, proving their freshness. The lady working there asked me if my donuts looked good. I found it very refreshing to have a shop asking for my thoughts on the product. From the sincerity of her question, I could tell that if I was unhappy, she would work on making a donut that was up to my satisfaction. Having said that, the first bite into my warm donuts was absolutely delicious. The frosting was just sweet enough without being too rich or sugary. The donut itself had a cake like consistency that paired beautifully with the thick frosting. The donuts were some of the best I have ever had. Amazing donuts and fabulous service. The place was well-kept and clean in spite of how busy they were (no trash overflowing, filled napkin dispensers, etc). I was impressed with how staff persons were genuinely friendly and helpful at both the ordering and pick-up order end of the transaction. The donuts are just delicious, absolutely no difference from the OBX to Lancaster, but the accuracy is different. I've never received an order that was wrong down south, but it's not uncommon here, especially when ordering more than 2 toppings. Today, I confirmed my toppings only to have 3 donuts wrong. Sometimes it's sprinkles instead of drizzle or whatever, but nevertheless, the donuts are always delicious. I'll always go back. read more

This was my first Duck Donuts experience and it certainly matched the (growing) hype. The staff in this location was super helpful and friendly, the donuts were... what can I say? Perfect? We entered the small location and met with the dealers. We placed our orders discreetly and waited with the other zombie like humans in a line for our addictive treasures to arrive. After getting our share we quickly moved in a troll like fashion hoarding our winnings to a secure area. We then looked around to see if it was safe and we opened our boxes. Not a word was spoken as we began our trans like induced eating frenzy. We were in survival mode and it was every man for himself dispite having a women in our presence we did not care , we were all equals and in survivor mode ! Small children were kept at a distance for fear of a glance at our treasures, yes we were not sharing and guarding our rewards. After the consumption was complete we realized our addiction have only just begun, now what , move our house closer to the dealer? Camp outside ? Seek employment with the dealer ? I was wondering about all the hype of this place. Stopped by today and grabbed 1/2 donuts. If u dont like cake doughnuts this place aint for u. It's pretty much just vanilla cake doughnuts to order, they do have a breakfast menu, coffee and other stuff. It's fresh and warm. Wished they offered more than just a vanilla based cake doughnut for everything. I can agree when ppl say it's best vanilla cake doughnut place but NOT the best doughnuts in general. read more

When we first arrived I was a little sceptical since they didn't have cream filled donuts which are my fave and 1.40 was twice the price of a regular donut so I was ehhhh. but when I bit into that freshly made donut with the chocolate and peanut butter topping my mouth said WOWEWW!!! :D. that was one of the best donuts I've ever had. the donut itself was warm n moist, somwhat cake like w a light crispy shell. definitely the place to go for a freshly made on demand donut!!! Amazing donuts!! We got a dozen donuts- 4 chocolate sprinkles, 4 glazed, 2 bare, and 1 cinnamon sugar, and 1 vanilla frosting. These donuts are not overly sweet and very satisfying. I don't like overly sweet donuts so these were perfect. They dip and make them when you order so it's very fresh. My two favorites are the chocolate sprinkles and glazed. My FIL loved them! After having duck donuts, makes me not want any other donuts out there. Duck donuts makes Dunkin donuts taste fake. Too bad there's no duck donuts in NY. Please open one in NYC. Went back today with family from NC and friends (the group included two teenagers). I still really like the concept. Personally I would like still a few "out there" options for donut toppings or drizzle (sriracha anyone?), but one of the teenagers said it was literally "the best donut she has ever had." Today is National Donut Day. You would think a donut shop would be staffed enough to handle the lines. You'd be wrong. Only 4 people were on staff and not one worked with a sense of urgency. As far as donut shops go this one is a 5 bagger! Warm cake donuts were out of this world with choice of toppings. Service is a little slow due to the custom nature of the orders and eating can get a little messy since the donuts are warm and the frosting can't set up but who cares! I was in town for the holiday & happened to see the sign for Duck Donuts. Turns out this is the same company as in OBX whose Donuts are a local favorite and my family loves. Admittedly, this is based on a single donut, but it was as good as envisioned: the maple bacon. Warm and delicious! And served in split second timing. Donuts are phenomenal. I especially enjoyed the cinnamon sugar donut. I like that they are made fresh and are hot when you walk out of the door. My only complaint is that the girl who presented me with my box of donuts after she filled my order had chocolate icing all over her gloves. The icing covered the box making my hands and my car sticky. I saw the Facebook video posted by this Duck Donuts specifically saying that they take off the gloves after filling the order so that the box is clean for the customer. There was no excuse for her to not remove the gloves, she wasn't in a hurry and it wasn't busy. There was no one in line after me. read more
