I worked for Hershey Chocolate for 40 yrs. Before I retired, there was a gentleman who delivered sugar in a tanker. Sugar Mike we called him. He would occasionally bring us Maple Donuts from York area and they were always DELICIOUS!!! I always checked the schedule if he was coming in that day. I only had what was given to me by this establishment. I didn't order myself n other words. When we were visiting friends in PA they picked us up some donuts and a sausage egg & cheese croissant a couple of times from here. They were there early enough in the am and what I had tasted good and fresh. I didn't have their coffee so I cannot rate that. I did read the other reviews and do agree with if you are sick...Close up shop. If it's dirty clean up a bit more. And I definitely agree with customers thinking that you should keep your personal political beliefs for you your own flag pole at home. For if I saw those things I'd probably rate this place a 3 or 3.5. Everyone has a right to their own their opinion though but sometimes it is best to not mix business with those things. What a treat to have an independent donut maker that makes great food and has a huge selection! Driving through York a few days ago, we needed a sweet snack. Donuts are always welcome, but I personally can't stand that other large chain. We had a maple creme-filled, apple filled, cookies and cream, pumpkin, whoopie pie, and salted caramel. All were delicious! I wish I had paid attention that the whoopie pie and pumpkin were the same thing. I guess the flavor of the whoopie pie changes so make sure to ask. It was late afternoon, and while they don't make the donuts onsite, they do frost/decorate them at this location. We bought 6 for the road and while they were not super fresh, we were very happy with our choices. Larger donuts than the chains and much bigger selection of flavors. Went through the drive thur and there was a large guy with a hair net but no mask. I was wearing my mask, and kindly asked him if we could be waited on by someone with a mask. I hit this place up every time I drive north out of Baltimore. It doesn't matter the weather or who is in the car with me. It doesn't matter if said car-companions have been crying since Towson that they are hungry/thirsty/have to wee. Maple Donut is so good it's worth waiting for. The beauty of this location is it is so convenient off the highway, you literally cannot get any closer. You won't feel that pang of regret you normally feel when you get off the road and think of all those cars you just spent time and energy passing and now there they go, whizzing past. There is also a gas station and a KFC for the passenger who is complaining that they don't want donuts because its 8pm and they haven't had dinner yet. Baby. On to the grub. I've only ever had the donuts and coffee here and both are AWESOME! I believe that they have other locations but I've never spent any time in this part of PA so I can't say for sure. don't be deterred by the exterior, they aren't super flashy, but I kinda like that. I love Maple Donuts. I don't live in the area, but I was here one summer (11 years ago) and fell in love with them. I visited a couple more times in the years following and thought they went downhill a bit. But I went back today and was again impressed. Just good, quality donuts. One thing I love about them is that even if they frost a donut, they also glaze it first, which it seems few places do. I do very much miss a donut I ate about 39 of that summer--I believe it was called honey wheat. Doesn't sound that amazing, but it might be in my top 5 all time donuts. Sadly, I wasn't thrilled with the coffee, but I admit I don't consider myself as much a connoisseur (read: obsessed fan) of coffee as I am of donuts! I've loved Maple Donuts since I was a kid so when I started working close to this location, I was very happy. The donuts are just as good, if not better than I remember. There's a huge selection to choose from, and it's fairly inexpensive to get your breakfast fix. Or your after work fix. Heck, even your midnight snack fix! I haven't had to be in Etters overnight but this place is open 24 hours. I especially like that I can get an unglazed Boston Cream donut (no clear sugar glaze, just the chocolate frosting on top) here. You just have to ask for it that way, otherwise the clerk will give you whatever one they get first. The only thing I don't like is the customer service. I'm rarely greeted with a smile, the clerks seem like they don't want to be there, and they seem to get impatient if you need more than one minute to pick a donut. read more

Stopped by on the way home. Incredibly polite and helpful staff. Military discount is a bonus. Donuts were better than I had remembered. I recall a hint of more almond extract but this time there was none of that which was a major plus. Tried the glazed, sugar, maple, coconut, chocolate with cream, chocolate caKe style donut, and blueberry (over a few days of course!!) and all were delicious. Google maps directed us here as we passed through looking for a Dunkin. Had I known their politics I wouldn't have patronized the place, but I would've missed out on good cake style doughnuts & bagel sandwich. Better than Dunkin, but not the best I've had. I think I saw the cook actually crack eggs to make the egg sandwich & not use a microwaved substitute - yay! This location was quite busy on a Friday morning. I noticed the lady getting doughnuts for customers kept pulling doughnuts from the farthest back area of the doughnut rack. When my family & I ordered she grabbed ours from the area closest to the front. I meant to ask her about it but completely forgot to after we ordered. The tables weren't the cleanest (doughnut crumbs), but nothing a quick wipe down with a napkin couldn't solve. Bathroom was decently clean. Customers waiting in line were nicer to my family & me than the people serving us. Based on the doughnuts & bagel sandwich I'd definitely go to Maple Donuts over Dunkin or Tim Hortons, BUT, their politics will keep me away forever. Too bad because I enjoyed the food. But, Maple Donuts will continue to do well without my business & I'm sure they don't care that my first time will be my last time there. I'm not local anyway nor am I part of their target audience except for the fact that I LOVE doughnuts!
