The donuts were amazing. We got a double chocolate, chocolate iced, and a Salted Caramel. All 3 were great. Maple Donuts is one of our top 3 donuts in the Central Penn area! The donut selection choice was very limited. Usually going to the main location they have a ton of variety. Possibly the sale to Private Equity has changed their current amounts and overall products. We did go later in the evening, but that never seemed to effect the amount of Maple Donuts in the past. The main location gives you a nostalgia feel. Its still a great spot to sit down and grab a coffee and a donut. The staff was quiet and not too helpful with explaining what some of their donuts were. Sorry I didn't take any pictures of the donuts. Because I purchased a medium black coffee. But my husband got an apple fritter. My husband said that it didn't have any apples at all. He didn't like this was our first time here. And it was crowed. The coffee wasn't good I had better. The young lady was very nice. Even the young lady next to her was helping her get the apple fritter and the sugar for the coffee. Only reason I didn't want a donut because they had a fly on it. I seen it but I fly was on one side of shelf. But you know if you seen one their are more they are not covered. But My husband had to have the apple fritter. It was so weird and flies are so nasty. Posted this on the Loucks rd location but it fits even more at this location. This one is MAGA central. Yelp needs a 0 star rating. Grew up on Maple Donuts, was always a treat as a kid. They use to be the best in town. Use to be is the key word there. The owner is more worried about throwing his political views in your face with his bill boards all over the place during election times instead of the quality of his donuts. The old ladies behind the counters could care even less than the owner. They know their customer base is right wing and right wing only in their eyes. Last time i was there a family of 5 I'll just say non white customers were there and kept getting over looked until they were the last ones to be served and the look on the old ladies face screamed disgust to be waiting on them. Putting the bigotry and MAGA crap aside the donuts are just straight trash now. Either you get a dry tasteless donut or an overly sweet donut. I can find better in the bakery at Giant or Weis and they aren't good there either. The owner needs to stop wasting his money on the political bill boards and ads and focus on the ingredients and paying his staff a decent wage so he can hire someone other than retired ladies that don't want to be there in the first place. Okay, I'm a transplant from the West. I have only been in PA a little over a year. Perhaps donuts are different here--especially Maple Donuts. I'm a raised donut lover, and I would like to like these things. Yet they always seem to be heavy and dry. They don't even moisten-up well when dipped in coffee! Maple is now advertising that they are bringing back crullers. That brought me back in to the "factory store" for yet another try. Who can resist a French cruller? The yeasty flavor, the crisp icing on the outside, the stretchy texture (so moist it is almost dripping) makes the cruller the Royal Princess of all donuts! Once again my hopes have been dashed, and my faith in donut-kind has been seriously tested. The dough is not stretchy, nor is it moist. Once again, dipping in hot coffee does little to help. Even the icing is tasteless and could use a little salt and/or butter. I see that one reviewer has mentioned that the place seems to be MAGA-central. This is true, and I want to state that my comments have to do with the product--not the politics. I apply the same policy to the food I eat as I do to the popular music I listen to (which ranges from Joni Mitchell to Charlie Daniels). I do think that APG (America is Plenty Great). This place was... interesting. I really dug the old-time donut shop feel. They still have a counter you can belly up to and have your coffee and donut while reading the local paper. They were also bringing out fresh donuts while we were there, so it was impressive to see the stock turning over so quickly. What struck me as odd was the flagrant Trump paraphernalia. Okay, I get it, that part of the state is very red. But, you know... I think politicizing your business is risky at best, and I'm sure it's costing them business. They even have a donut called 'The Trump,' which I'm sure is as delicious as the rest of their offerings. If I'm ever elected president, though, I'm not sure I'd want to be immortalized in a donut... Anyway, the servers were pretty fast and helpful. Nobody tried to sway my vote or anything, it was just a lot of banners touting 45. It is what it is. We purchased what were SUPPOSED to be ethnic Polish donuts. My 87-year-old father considers these a treat and was looking forward to enjoying them with his coffee. However, they turned out to be totally disgusting! Pączki are SUPPOSED to be very rich donuts, deep fried and then filled with fruit or cream filling and covered with powdered sugar or icing. Weight-wise they are a heavy donut because of all the goodness. What we got was lightweight, cardboard thin tasteless dough with a lumpy red filling that could not be identified. Now I bought a package of Apple Fritters 4pk Jumbo not realizing they are made by Maple Donuts and they are worst than the donuts, if that's possible. This should be called "canned cherry pie filling without the cherries" no jelly found and not the slightest peanut butter flavoring in the "peanut butter icing" at all, zero stars Maple frosted; the best tasting one in the bunch Blueberry cake; fine The staff was nice, place has a great variety. I didn't like the homemade icings they made but the donut itself has a great flavor. Next time if I'm ever in the area I'll stick to the glaze or old fashioned.. These donuts are LEGENDARY. Every time I'm in York I find a way to get here. I will go way out of my way to go to this place. Once, I stopped here "on the way home" from something, only realizing later it added something like an hour onto my driving time. Whoops! Still worth it for donut lovers. I've tried many of the donuts here, which I think are super cheaply priced for how amazing they are. Came here on a weekday night at about 11:30 PM. They literally had 4 flavors of donuts and that was all. What the fuck? You have ONE job.... to make donuts!!!! Although this place doesn't come in first place on my donut list, it is a very close second and that is impressive. Overrated. Come for local-watching, but not to be blown away. I was excited to try this place. It looks like a diner from the 1950s. But the donuts are so bad. Flavorless. I've had people bring a dozen to the office and I tried several, they all end up in the trash. People from York are just proud of this local establishment.
