Well, the Simon family sold the business about a year ago to a Latino family. They are great folks and quick to offer a happy greeting upon entering the shop. Their famed sugar cookies dominate the display cases behind the counter. My mission this morning was to acquire two parcels of a deeply personal culinary weakness: DONUTS! Made from scratch donuts. Far better than Krispy and gas station or c-store donuts. At 1.50 each, you can't beat it as far as flavor and quality go. My second visit in about a month. I'll try to make it more frequently, but, you know, donuts... It's easy to stumble...

And I followed them to both locations in Baltimore County because their baked goods remained the same! Until now. I bought a peach cake at their Cockeysville location yesterday and although the peaches were the same sweet and delicious, the cake part wasn't the same. I was disappointed. I know it is no longer a family run bakery anymore but I thought they got the recipes from the Simon family. I hope they do if they haven't because I won't be going back. The cake part of the peach cake just needs a little something to make it taste like Simon's!!
