I didn't expect much from looking at this place from the outside in the outskirts of Lancaster in a strip mall. We ended up coming here since Beilers Donuts were closed in downtown Lancaster since it was a Sunday. This is my kids favorite spot to get donuts in Lancaster and clearly I wasn't getting out of this trip without finding a donut alternative. Duck Donuts it would be! The space inside is very small. There are only a few tables and many of them covered in crumbs. They have a few tables out front but it isn't covered and we were there on a very hot day. Service wasn't exactly friendly. But I eventually got a smile since after having our first half dozen, I was back ordering more! The second time was the charm to get some charm back. Our favorite were the cinnamon sugar donuts, or as my son called them, "the messy ones!" They donuts are cooked fresh and come out hot. I'm telling you, they were fantastic. The glazed ones were also good but a little too sweet and messy for my taste since they were served hot with glazed melting off. The same with the iced donuts since they are hot. We liked the duck theme. They also sell little rubber ducks, which of course are strategically right next to the counter and every child can't resist. We visited on Father's Day and loved the touch of offering coloring sheets for the special day with crayons. That made me so happy and the kids loved coloring them. read more

These were not my favorite donuts, not sure why I didn't enjoy them as much as many others. But they certainly are creative with lots of wonderful flavors. A very popular spot, you could expect lines in here and they have so many beautiful donuts to choose from! They have many gourmet flavors as well like different types of cookies and stuff like that. The staff is great and their hard-working and they keep people moving along and very happy there. Great customer service! I was unfortunately, a bit underwhelmed by the actual donut. Not necessarily the toppings. I guess I've had many other types of donuts like this type of a store which I won't name them here. But the donut base for me underwhelmed me a little bit. They use the same donut base for all the donuts and they just basically vary the toppings they put on top of them. So the flavor of the actual donut base is pretty important. First, let me say that I have never cared for cake donuts. I prefer yeasty donuts, because almost all cake donuts I have tried have been far too dry for my tastes. That has now changed thanks to Duck Donuts. for the first time I have found a cake donut that is both moist and melt-in-your-mouth good. Add to that, having the most amazing toppings and drizzles and you have a true winner. My granddaughter brought home a dozen of these for my 75th birthday, sensing that this was one cake donut I was going to love, and she was so right. Each of the dozen was a different flavor, and apparently you can order almost any kind of combo you wish. I was amazed at the total amount of flavors that was available, and each one was tastier than the next. My particular favorites were the ones with peaches and the ones with bacon. To top it off, the toppings are generously added. I had peaches overflowing onto the bottom of the box, and we are talking about generous sized pieces of peach, not just flavoring. Now, if all that is not enough for you to head over to their establishment and take care of that sweet craving, let's add the price which is amazing for the quality of the product they produce. The price of a single donut is certainly fair for what you receive, but if you go for a half dozen or dozen the price is beyond reasonable. With a dozen, you pay less than $2 per donut. As I told my granddaughter, I felt like she was getting gold quality for a copper price. Of course, they are at their best when you eat them warm from the moment you receive them, but a brief 8 to 10 seconds in your microwave, and you'll get that same fresh melt-in-your- mouth goodness again. I'm pretty bummed that I live all the way across the country and won't be able to indulge in these insanely out of this world donut haven!!! Seeing the automated donut making process is pretty cool. I don't know what I can add that hasn't been stated already. Pick a glaze, pick a topping, pick a drizzle. Build your own donuts with a variety of glazes, toppings, and drizzles. Infinite combinations, endless possibilities! How far are you willing to go? The store itself is indeed small, and was managed chaos upon arrival on a Saturday night. However, the staff cleared out the store in 10 minutes and sent everyone on their way. The store is clean, neat, attractive, but surely better for take out than dining in, with only two tables available indoors. The cost for a dozen donuts was $13.50. Our kids loved watching the donut-maker conveyer belt, and I'm sure it's on an Amazon wish-list by now. Very cool toy indeed. The only negative is the parking situation and shopping center where they are located. The accessibility from Fruitville Pike is difficult to make Duck an easy stop for those of you who want to stop for a breakfast treat but don't have much time...ingress and egress are cumbersome in this shopping unit! I ordered a sandwich drink and some donuts, and the young lady Zaya helped me out but she had to tell the man in the back multiple times to make the sandwich. It was 3 times and he didn't listen to her about the request of the orders it seems he was doing other stuff in the back that wasn't helping. This is perhaps the most dangerous eatery in Lancaster. There aren't words to describe how amazing these doughnuts are, so I will just tell you that you should run - not walk - to Fruitville Pike to try them for yourself. And you'll be glad all that running burned off a few extra calories so you can have seconds. You can smell the sweet goodness when you walk in the door, but you'll also be greeted by a sweet and friendly staff. My first visit was a little confusing - there is a method to placing your order here, and I was unfamiliar - but the cashier walked me through it, asked a few questions about flavors I like, and made some recommendations. Essentially, you get to pick your glaze, topping, and drizzle, which can net you some pretty incredible combinations, but require a little thought before ordering. So definitely take a peak at the menu board and recommendations before you step up to place your order, and don't be shy if you have questions! My first visit, I tried the Strawberry Lemonade. It was so good that when I returned the second time, I got the lemon icing again, but tried it with a blackberry drizzle, and my daughter had a more traditional white icing with rainbow sprinkles. We went to Duck Donuts as a party of three at about 10am on Sunday morning, June 12th. This was our first time trying a Duck Donuts. It is a small store located in a new strip shopping center off of Fruitville Pike. So, we entered and it was kind of organized chaos. The redeeming factor of this place is the donuts. (Of course, that is the specialty and what they are supposed to be good at). The donuts alone definitely get a 5 star rating. Made right in front of you, they are hot and fresh. The toppings are placed on the donuts and customized to your preference when you order them. They are quick and out in a flash. They are also reasonably priced for the concept. However, I overall gave the experience a 3. First of all, the place was small and there are two or three tables inside and two or three outside. There is definitely not enough space. It was too busy for the staff to possibly keep up. Although we got our donuts within 3 or 4 minutes, we also ordered a breakfast sandwich and coffee and it took nearly 20 minutes for that to come up. The breakfast sandwich was ok, but nothing special; however, the meat and egg was far too small for the large bagel that it was placed on. I had never heard of Duck Donuts until they opened in Mechanicsburg. We were in Lancaster for something and ran into the Duck Donuts here. I am not a donut person but I had to see what all the "fuss" was about. This place is lovely! The employees are super friendly. I told the young lady at the register we had never been there before and she gave us a few minutes to look over the menu. We ordered two donuts and an iced coffee. Surprisingly the coffee was really good too! We've been to this location twice now and both times were equally good. While visiting my family we decided to stop by for a few bites. The staff was very sweet, but they were very slow. We ordered a few of the breakfast sandwiches of donuts with eggs and cheese and honestly, it tasted just like a McGriddle. We also had a maple and lemon donut and while it is great that they are made fresh, they were just ok. The best donuts in PA is Federal Donuts which I think are only located in Philly. read more
