A friend heard about my Lancaster Adventure Day and informed me that a trip to Lancaster simply would not be complete without a stop at Mr. Sticky's. Candidly, I had never in my life heard of Mr. Sticky's. Naturally, I immediately went to the internet to investigate. Within approximately 30 seconds I had one very important question...HOW HAS THIS AMAZING SUGAR-FILLED ESTABLISHMENT ESCAPED MY RADAR FOR ALL THESE YEARS?! Clearly, I had some lost time to make up for. I worked Mr. Sticky's into my adventure schedule and stopped by their Lancaster location shortly after lunch on an early August Thursday. I wasn't entirely sure what to expect and was pleasantly surprised to find this cute little building tucked into a shared parking lot with a few picnic tables outside. Even better, there wasn't anyone in line when I walked up to the window, so there was absolutely nothing standing between me and my impending sugar rush. The menu was shockingly simple, and I mean that as a compliment. In a world where I sometimes need 20 minutes and a flowchart to order dessert, Mr. Sticky's basically says, "Here's the good stuff. Pick one." Cinnamon rolls. Regular stickies. Walnut stickies. Iced cinnamon rolls. Regular icing. And...PEANUT BUTTER ICING. Well, hello there! Being myself made of approximately 63.8% peanut butter, there was no way I was leaving without investigating that situation. But I also wanted to try one of their classic stickies, so I decided to see if I could break the universe and ordered a regular sticky with peanut butter icing. Success! Even better, the peanut butter icing came in a little container on the side, allowing me complete control over exactly how ridiculous I wanted this experience to become. I collected my box and headed for one of the picnic tables in the shade. It was approximately 95 degrees outside, so I was grateful for every square inch of shade available. Then I opened the box. This sticky was HUGE! It was beautifully golden, covered in glistening glaze and smelled absolutely incredible. I was already thrilled, but there was still one very important test standing between Mr. Sticky's and greatness. The peanut butter icing. Listen, I'm particular about peanut butter icing. If you're going to invoke the sacred name of peanut butter, I need you to COMMIT. I don't want something light, airy and vaguely peanut butter adjacent. I want thick. I want rich. I want peanut butter icing that looks me directly in the eyes and says, "Yeah. I'm peanut butter. What about it?" It was time to find out if Mr. Sticky was going to become my future husband. I took one little forkful of the icing by itself. And audibly squealed. Cold. THICK. Rich. Punch-you-in-the-face peanut butter. OH. YES. Mr. Sticky understood the assignment! I knew there was absolutely no chance I was going to finish that enormous sticky in one sitting, so instead of dumping the icing all over it, I went bite by bite. A little sticky. A little peanut butter icing. Repeat until happiness occurs. And happiness absolutely occurred! The sticky itself was soft, sweet and generously glazed, and adding that ridiculously rich peanut butter icing pushed the entire thing straight over the edge. Was it incredibly sweet? Yes. Was that a problem? Have we met?! I'm still not sure how I grew up in Central Pennsylvania without Mr. Sticky's entering my life sooner, but I'm glad somebody finally corrected this terrible oversight. My only complaint is that the closest location is nearly an hour from my house because I can already imagine these becoming a holiday breakfast tradition. Thanksgiving morning with Mr. Sticky's? Christmas morning with Mr. Sticky's?! COME ON. Holiday made! So I'm passing along the same advice my friend gave me. If your adventures take you anywhere near Mr. Sticky's, don't just consider stopping. Make it a destination. Get the sticky. Get the peanut butter icing. And maybe don't make any legally binding matrimonial decisions until the sugar rush wears off. read more

It is what it is. Yes it was a sticky bun he tried all the flavors. But because they weren't warm and the icing wasn't melted they were very dry. I recommend it if you're around the way you don't mind trying it but I personally wouldn't go ask my way. The workout was calm nice and quick. What a delicious treat Mr Sticky's is - the type of rare gem that delivers above expectations and has you dreaming about it the next day. Pulling up to the small house (shack?) where Mr Sticky's is located, you know you're in for either the best or worst cinnamon buns of your life. By the time you get to the window and speak to the extremely kind women running the stand, you know it'll be great. The sticky bun namesake does not disappoint - here you're getting warm, thick, heavy buns. They're so heavy, in fact, that a half dozen will be served in an extra-tick pizza box, which will be caked in even more sugary goodness. I do think the way to go here is a half dozen or more. SO. TASTY. I don't know how I had gone 10 months living in Lancaster before I realized that Mr. Sticky's was right across from Costco. I was horrified when I found out this tasty goodness had been a mere stone's throw away from my normal shopping point all this time. Went on a weekday, so I did not have to deal with the tourists and business of the weekend. My friend and I split the half dozen regular sticky buns. The lovely woman behind the counter window handed us a box that weighed a metric ton, and the thick scent of cinnamon filled our piggy nostrils. We went back to the car to eat in shame (and air conditioning). She and I split one and felt nearly on the cusp of stroke from all the sugary, cinnamon goodness. IT WAS SO FLIPPIN GOOD, and I'm not particularly a sweet tooth. The buns stay pretty well for a couple days at least, so we had them with coffee in the morning. I just popped one in the microwave for 15 seconds, and it just as warm and tasty as the day I bought them. Most delicious sticky bun that I had!! I ordered the regular and the cinnamon sticky buns. It was warm and sweet and melted right in your mouth. They were both delicious! I do wish that they had the mini sticky buns available without having to preorder them. The coffee wasn't great and they had no napkins so we had to go back to the hotel to eat. How could I pass up on a place called Mr Stickys? There is just no way. he has 3 locations in the area, one in a mall, one bakery and the one I found in a food truck. I consider myself a cinnamon roll connoisseur and I have to say Mr. Sticky makes some fine rolls. These are Cinnamon Rolls-Royces (see what I did there) because they are fine. The cinnamon rolls and sticky buns are phenomenal. If you want cinnamon rolls with icing, they just supply the container of icing so you can add your own. They also give you a ton of icing. So why a 3 star rating? Customer service lacks. When I arrived, it almost seemed like I was bothering them to serve me. I sat outside until they finally decided to come to the window, even though it was clear to me that they knew that I was standing there. They also have a very strict one dozen all together limit, meaning you're only walking away with 12 pastries total, due to the holiday, unless you order ahead of time. Mr. Sticky's has been around since '00, family-owned and -operated by Phil Poorman. We checked out their trailer in a parking lot out in Lancaster and I was super excited! Their menu offers the Regular Sticky Bun, the Walnut Sticky Bun, Cinnamon Bun, Cinnamon Bun with Peanut Butter Icing, Cinnamon Bun with Cream Cheese Icing, and Mini Stick Buns (which you need to pre-order ahead of time). I tried their Walnut Sticky Bun, topped with perfectly-toasted walnuts and baked in their special 'smear' - these buns are baked fresh daily, and you can definitely tell! It was soft, gooey, and it wasn't as overly sweet as I anticipated (a good thing). They even have coffee/drinks available, so you can enjoy it as breakfast or as a little snack/dessert. There is some picnic tables set outside, so you can either treat yourselves before going back on the road or take it to go.
