I love this library! It's clean and inviting. The calendar almost always has something that interests me. The only reason I give one less star is because of the service. People only help if you ask... otherwise there's zero eye contact with someone just walking past. Also, the copier and "money card" aspect is hard to deal with. It took my money and I had to wait a while to solve the issue. read more

as a kid, it was always my dream to be able to check out my own books instead of handing them over to the scary old lady librarian and i'm so happy to see self check-out here at Dublin Library!! i remember the terror i felt when i had an overdue book but now i never have to be afraid again! you can request books online after registering at www.aclibrary.org and the books will be shipped to your library location. the system also sends a message that the book has arrived. you can even re-new books online and search the library catalog from your personal computer. the library system even sends you a email a couple days before your books are due so you never forget! the library is always clean, cool and quiet and it has a lot of visitors of all ages reading and utilizing the computer lab. i recently found out the library has an extensive collection of graphic novels and comics. cool! best sellers are continually added to the collection too so you almost always find the book you want. if you want a specific book that is not in the library's collection, there is an option to "Suggest a Purchase" on the website. Just enter in the book name and some other info and a small blurb on why it would be a good addition to the library. then wait for awhile, and you will almost always get an email that the library purchased the book and that it is being held for you to check it out first. awesome. read more

I guess I just happened to have a rude person assisting (or lack there of) on my last visit. Came in today around 4:15pm to check out a few DVDs for class. The Asian woman at the front desk was VERY nice and VERY helpful. The man with the gray hair putting away books was very helpful, as well. I was able to pay my fines quickly & at the front desk she answered all of my questions. Okay okay. I'll definitely be back next week. :) read more

Libraries reveal a lot about the community its serving and when you walk into the Dublin library, you know there's a caring, small town feel to it's sophisticated interior design. The staff is helpful and my children are always preoccupied in the children's section of the library. Not only that but my kids have taken several classes in its recreational community classrooms. I was completely embarrassed when my overdue fees totaled more than $50 but the administrator helped me adjust my fine to below $30! Talk about a helpful staff member! This is my favorite library in the Tri-Valley area! read more

Always have a good experience here with my 3 year old! The staff are very professional and kind. Always clean and a nice ambiance!

Clean. Quiet. Plenty of space. Interactive computer games for kids. And don't forget about the books. Many many books.

Once you get past the two cheesy statue-esque things in the front, this library is pretty hot. Sure, I agree with Tianqi, you probably should never enter the kids section if you want peace and quiet, but the back section is nice and bright with lots of tables. Alameda County has a great collection and you can always request a book via www.aclibrary.org. Parking is never a problem. A neat little quirk they have is the color changing LED lights under the checkout counter... random, but cool 8-). read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE this library! I can't say one bad thing about it. They have a great selection and what they don't have can be borrowed through Link+. I could spend all day here catching up on magazines, books and CDs. I also love their DVD collection - great selection of new releases along with classics, foreign films, and documentaries. It is also at the end of the Alamo Creek Trail, which connects with the Iron Horse. I love that I never have to drive here - I just walk or ride my bike and the trail goes right under Dublin Blvd., straight into the library. I always get overly excited in here and borrow way more than any human can realistically read/watch/listen to, so I always owe late fees, but I don't mind that my money goes towards keeping this library going. read more

Great Library, very convenient, well stocked, very easy to access information and materials. The staff are very helpful and friendly. They also have a great kids section and have helpful hints and encouragement for the kids to use the library more. read more

I use to come and study here all the time until I found a library closer to where I reside. This is still a really good and quiet place to come read and surf the internet. Did I mention that there's usually a few police officers around so I've never heard of anything being stolen in their parking lot. You can find some really good places to eat in walking distance too! read more

This is a rather small library, but it's a good place to come and study. They have large, well-lit tables in the center, and a separate study area with individual couches and desks. It's usually very quiet and not too crowded. I wish the hours were a little more extensive, but we have the economy to blame for that...The free wifi is a plus :) read more

Small library with lots of seating. It's located close to some shopping centers so I sometimes pick up food and come here for a study session. Librarians are cheerful and helped me get my library card in no time at all. They do have a limited selection though. read more

Our new library is so beautiful. It is just great. The librarians are friendly and it seems to have a good selection.

We love this library! From new mom's perspective, the facility is really nice (built in 2003) bathrooms are big enough for strollers, tons of places to sit with a book or magazine. As others have said, it has a GREAT DVD collection (incl many popular TV shows), tons of parking, nice staffers (some are nicer than others), all of the children's librarians are especially great! tons of computers and great kid's computers with lots of educational games. they have 6 of them now - always a hit with the kids! As part of the alameda county library system, you can go to www.aclibrary.org and put a hold on almost any book/movie out there. You can renew material online - that has saved me several times, esp from almost overdue DVDs. True that their standing collection in Dublin is not the biggest out there, but you can get just about anything through the online system. They send it to Dublin and you have 10 days to pick it up. I also like the self checkout machines (my kids like it even better!). In the last year, I have gone to a lot of the children's programs with my son. The mother goose toddler time is great - perfect for 1-3yr olds. It is held 2x/week sept-oct. the Friday session is not as busy (avg 10 kids) but at a bad time - 1:30-2pm, right smack during nap time. The Tues 10:30am session is usually PACKED (20-30 toddlers) and a little crazy, but the kids love it. they also have several different types of story telling times: multi-cultural, musical and general story-telling. See their online calendar for times/dates. 3-4 times a year they have family story nights where invited volunteers read from 6:30-7pm. This is meant for families, esp with working parents, and is great for any age up to 4-5ish. The children's staff really enjoy their jobs and are just wonderful with kids. Vote for measures that fund libraries! read more

It's a newer facility with large bathrooms and plenty of tables. The WiFi router is located near the study area, in between the children's section and the group study room. If you go anywhere farther than that the WiFi is really poor. They have a large staff here which seem friendly. I left my stuff unattended, unintentionally, for an hour to return to it gone. The staff had taken my stuff and put it behind the counter. I was grateful no one had taken it, but then I was scolded for leaving my stuff there. Oops. The best spot for great WiFi and to sneakily eat your snacks is in the group study room. Just be aware that people are allowed to talk loudly in there, but it has a nice view of the outside. If the sun gets too bright, just go to the front desk and ask to put down the sun shades. The Iron Horse Trail runs right behind the Library and the Dublin Police Dept. is located right next door. read more

The restroom situation got better since then. I had only good experience here anyway otherwise.

I took my four year old here for the first time since she loves books. They have a large corner section with multiple sitting areas and tables just for kiddies. They have computer for you to use for an hour per day. The building is very clean too. read more

Very nice selection of books and DVDs. In particular, the kids section is quite nice. You want the Wiggles, Barney, Max & Ruby, Dora the Explorer, you don't need to buy the DVD when you can check them out free here. And they have plenty of TV series (The Wire, Firefly, etc) for those who commute to the city on BART. Good stuff. read more

One of the best libraries to study at. I really like how it is open with a high ceiling, and has natural lighting coming in. When I needed to study, this was the place to go or San Jose State Library (Martin Luther King Jr Library). It's not overly crowded and if you need silence to get your homework done there is a small area in the way back that is super quiet. I usually study in the back, but not way back. Sometimes in the middle area there are tutors, so it can get noisy, but nothing that earphones won't take care of. read more

Great place to study ..great place to bring the kids ..ton of reading programs for the young ones and it's amAzingly clean read more

Great atmosphere and clean library. There is a wonderful quiet area that is so quiet I can hear people breathing. Great place to study for anything you need concentration on. read more

Horrible staff. Twice, we returned books and got charged for missing books. Staff did a perfunctory look around in the return area, not there, pay up. We go look on the shelf, they're sitting on the shelf! Then they say "you're not supposed to be looking around in the library." Really?! Since you make no effort to help, I have to do it myself! Worst one was we checked out a kids book that came damaged. 1st time ever, so didn't think to call them or take a pic of it. Returned it, got charged, called library, went up phone chain to someone named Rosemary. Pompous "my staff would never check out a book like that. Ever!" Really?! They never make mistakes? They obviously checked one out to us! We are responsible and teach our kids to treat public property with utmost respect. I had to tell her "we'd never return books like that." So, beware. Count your books when you return and show them their mistakes when you get a damaged book that they check out to you. Otherwise, you'll be making involuntary donations. read more

Excellent library. It is spacious, beautiful, and well-ventilated, with quiet and respectful patrons. I had no trouble working here on a Saturday, even when it got crowded. read more

Love the library and the friendly librarians. We moved to San Ramon but keep coming back here every week.

This is a great library. I love how clean, new and the quality of the books here. I also love that they have an easy drive up book return

This is such an amazing library! Very clean, spacious, lots of natural light, and a welcoming space for all ages. I will definitely visit again! :) read more

Very unprofessional and rude when asked for help. Library is nice and clean but with the way the wifi is set up, MacBooks do not connect. read more

Really great staff!! Love the facility and all the resources. The only reason why not 5 stars is that they don't have any private study rooms to check out. Awesome place for kids. read more

I love the Dublin library. Having been a resident of the area since birth, I spent a lot of time at the old Dublin library too. I like the children's book section, though it gets a bit loud. I like the selection of movies, but some of them are so scratched, they don't work (it's free, I know, stop complaining). The place is clean, and the children's help desk is ALWAYS very friendly and helpful. The front desk staff can be a bit short on patience, but for the most part, they are all nice. Didn't know this, but the Dublin Library also accepts individual CD/DVD cases for donation. read more

Don't try to use the Wifi here. The library staff is not knowledgeable. The support is non-existent. The documentation is out of date. For Window Vista users -- the redirect to the "Welcome to Library Wireless Internet Access" page does not work and therefore blocks internet access. Multiple patrons onsite displayed the same issues. My tax dollars are being put to poor use. read more

This library is pretty amazing. Huge and quiet if you want to escape for the afternoon. Plenty of computers and comfy seating all around. The book collection is okay, the childrens area is wonderful, and the DVDs rock. Best part is you can always request books from other libraries. The library is constantly trying to get people involved with different events. Some can pretty cool, definitely something to check out. read more

I've always received courteous service at Dublin library and the staff seems knowledgeable. The only downside is that the Alameda County Libraries take significantly longer to transfer requested books among their branches than Contra Costa County Library does. Plan on waiting about a week to receive an available book or movie transfer from another branch. read more

This is one of the best libraries I've been to over the last two decades. It's a quiet and spacious venue with clean restrooms and drinking water, and plenty of room to work or study. The best feature besides the above-mentioned amenities is the group study room where I often go to record videos for work or run virtual meetings that could go from half an hour to several hours. I find myself drawn into a sense of security and productivity because of the energetic atmosphere here. This is where I work when I am visiting Dublin and I don't want to be distracted at a place like Barnes and Noble, or Starbucks. Plus, I'm a geek, so having sci-fi, dvds, and comic books nearby is a great plus. Yes, I know you can get those at Barnes and Noble, but they're more of a hassle to put back at a bookstore than they are at the library. Life hack! Wifi is also free here which is another awesome plus for work purposes. read more

The only issue i have with this library are the people who decide to have a full blown conversation on the phone thinking hiding in a corner will muffle their obnoxiously loud voice. If you need to talk on the phone, go outside. This has happened MULTIPLE times and the staff do nothing about it. Also, when people allow their children to scream and run around when people are trying to read or study...you know...things typically done at the library. This is the perfect opportunity to teach your children appropriate public behavior. I just wish the staff would say something to these people. The library is not that big. Everything loud is amplified and it would not be that difficult to find the disruptive people. read more

This library is great. It has decent collection of current books. You can always request books from other branches. I like the audio book section. The only complaint I have is the constant humming from the building that really pumps my heart to the point of irritating. And they should not push the books for sales all the way back against the wall, it's so hard to read the titles at the bottom shelves, you'd have to crank your neck. One time I moved the books out so they were easy to browse but next time I came in they got pushed back again. I guess it's why no one bought them 'cause they can't see them. read more

Good selection of new books and dvds. However you need to bring your books and dvds to the front desk to return them if you are returning on the due date or they often get checked in late and end up being past due. Most times they waive the fee but sometimes they are adamant about you paying them even if it was their fault. read more

I too, have to give this library five stars. I live in San Ramon, which has mierda for libraries. This library just seems very well run. Self-checkouts, the holds items are put on a side shelf, so you can walk in, check yourself out and be on your way. A very nice audiobook collection, a lot of online electronic services, everything from making requests, canceling holds, paying fines, renewing materials, it's presented in an attractive user friendly format. It allows you a great deal of autonomy in your dorkiness. hehe. A long, long time ago we had to basically telnet into the computer system to access catalogs and do renewals and it went down a lot. I'm from the valley and I too am accustomed to a much more extensive book collection, but I've been able to acquire most of what I want. It's clean, it's new, it's pretty, the information desk staff is always ready to help, even though I've only asked for it once. Plenty of desks, open seven days a week. That is amazing. When I was growing up they were only open six days a week and sometimes closed for in service days. The horror. read more

Since moving here from San DIego, I was new to the area and did not know much about the tri-valley /east bay area and so this was one of my first places I visited. When I first walked into the library I was totally amazed by the front entry. It's a very lovely library inside and out. the staff was very friendly and helpful. I would give it 8 stars if I could! read more
