The Ygnacio Valley library is an older, but well-maintained, neighborhood library, especially popular with nearby residents of eastern Walnut Creek. Given its size, it's book catalog can only be so large, but the ability to order books from the Contra Costa library system and have them delivered here makes that almost irrelevant. And of course that with theWith the app, you can get books sent directly to your Kindle or hear them on audio. There's always a healthy sized collection of used books for sale in the entrance lobby, a highlight of the library. I have definitely found some keepers here. The children's corner is a nice resource for young families. I would have to concur with those reviewers that mention afterschool times can be a noisy experience. Young kids stream in then, hang around outside, and the parking lot fills with parents avoiding more crowded at-school pickups. The front of the library does seem relatively calmer than the back where socializing kids tend to hangout. Certainly not all kids are disruptive, and I feel sorry for those attempting to do their homework amidst the distractions. For older patrons needing quiet, mornings and early afternoons are usually better.

I really like this library. It's small so they usually don't have the books i want. But they are very respectful.

Neighborhood library. Great place to read and borrow books and dvds. Since it is a public library, it's free!

I've always loved libraries and this one is no exception! It's brightly lit, with plenty of seating…read moreto lounge in while you read/study. Lots of outlets available as well in case you need to plug your laptop in somewhere. Other highlights: -Small bookstore with items at super reasonable prices (proceeds go back to the library) -Maker space -Events for teens/kids + author talks and cultural performances -Group study rooms (4) -"Cafe"-type space where foods/drinks are allowed The books available are well-curated and if there's anything you want that they don't have, you can typically get it through their interlibrary loan program + pick it up in the "holds" section. I've only ever come here on Saturdays + on one weekday evening for an author talk, so it's been relatively quiet/I can't speak to the noise level otherwise. I'm so glad this place exists! :]

While I wasn't able to look around the entire library, it was very clean and welcoming. The staff was okay, but I did not have much interaction with them as I was focused on our baby. The parking lot is a bit small for the events they hold, so it's possible you'll need to park down the end of the adjacent park if you get there a little late. But all in all, it was a lovely visit. We do plan to go back again, I'd like to personally go when there are no events to see how quiet would be for studying.

This community college library is located on the DVC Pleasant Hill campus (DVC also has a satellite…read morecampus in San Ramon, but without a library). It's been updated in regard to technology, but the study tables, etc. remain the same. Online access to the library and peripheral resources is excellent! The computer lab and the classroom at the far end of the library are nice and new and set up to promote a positive learning environment. You can also get a DVC Connect Card at the circulation desk if you don't want to go to the Student Life Office. The students who staff the library are nice and helpful.

This library is strange…read more I have a like/ hate relationship with it. I like the copy machine and the printers, which saved me enough times as a student. The staples are free and all you have to do is load your card up with monies and you can use them any time you need. I hate being brought here for class "field trips" because beyond forced here for them, I never once used this library for any sort of research. Thats what the internet's is for. Duh. I like they wanted to teach us how to use the online site to look up information, because coming through those security doorways always hurt my ears so I never got into falling asleep here like others. I hate that there are no liquids allowed in here. I always had to hide my hot chocolate when making copies. And you ain't really lived until you've spilled hot chocolate in a library. I like that I never have to come here again... no wait... love. I love that I never have to come here again.
