Over the years, they've never been shy about trying out new policies, events, concerts, outdoor equipment/travel loans, guest speakers and internet webinars.... At 75, I'm running out of breath. But it's crystal clear that they've developed a staff and volunteer team that has fine morale and structure, creative ideas, pleasant and supportive customer service, prompt assistance whenever able, and a truly welcoming atmosphere for the broad, diversified population that it serves -- from toddlers to we senior humans: great job Benicia Public Library! Lately I been coming to this library due to how the inside and outside of the building is…read morewonderful. You would not believe this library was caught on fire. Since the fire and re-opening the library still attracts people to come inside to check out books, studied, or nap (I seen someone catching up sleep but dare not to snore). The librarian was polite on informing what been going on with the library since it re-opening. I was informed about events the library are holding. I have one good question: why is this the only library that provides ear plugs?

It's been years since I have been here and learned that the kids library that was on the first…read morefloor (last time I remembered) had been moved to the second floor with the adult section. It is very open and spacious with tables with computers and chairs spread throughout. There is also an area in the back for kids and even a play area. Self check out kiosks in the front which were very interesting and quick to use. My mini me and her baby came to get some books and have a little fun in the kids area before we headed home. The little one enjoyed her time exploring and choosing books too. I need to come back and renew my library card and see about checking some items out.

Lacks the bells and whistles of the Pleasant Hill Library and the Walnut Creek Library but honestly, if you want to spend some time with your littles to really focus on studying, reading and sit down activities - - this branch is more conducive that as there are no outdoor spaces and lots of fancy toys to lure them away from "study" time. LOL. Love public libraries and general and I'm glad to find a hidden gem where we can have our child experience the classic "let's stay quiet and read" library feel. Thank goodness for another close county library in American Canyon. Even though its quite small its cozy and very clean. My first visit was last week. It was a wonderful experience. There is a young man who works there…read more I didn't get his name, but I believe he wears his hair pulled back in a ponytail. This young man is so polite so helpful and it made my visit a great success. Fast-forward two days ago, I returned. I had very important documents that needed to be uploaded and very time sensitive. On this day, the employee that was working was deep into a conversation with her coworker. She acted bothered by me asking a question. I am old. I am 55 years old. I am not from today's generation. I am not computer savvy and I need help. Actually I needed a lot of help because I needed to know how to work the printer, attach photos etc. She proceeded to give me two-three word instructions and acted upset because she had to get back to her conversation. I am 55 years old. I am not savvy when it comes to computers. I also understand this is not a computer class. There were three clerks on duty at the time. I don't know. I just feel that if the roles were reverse, I would want to help somebody and feel great that I was able to do so. I felt embarrassed by this.
