Nutrition class healthy food chart
Lauren S.

Saturday morning cartoons, farmers market and going to the library were some of my favorite memories as a kid. I was 14 when we moved from southern California to Vallejo and coming to this library gave me a place to roam from home without getting in trouble. Ive always loved reading so when I was old enough to take on the responsibility of a library card J.F.K was and still is a big part of my world. Its come a long way from the dusty books that were in a dark back corner where you were positively going to meet some pedophile or homeless person. Within the last decade its had a nice face lift with access to more technology, activities, classes and events for the whole family. Currently Im taking a 6 week nutrition class and learning about Diabetes which has been great. I appreciate the library and its staff for all the people it caters to day in and out. Always a fan!

Baby Bounce! So much Fun!
Aimee M.

Baby Bounce is so much fun. Ariel my daughter and I started to come to Baby Bounce when she was a couple months old. Now is almost a year. I heard about it through a friend and thought I should check it out. The classes are on Tuesday and Thursday from 10:30am to 11:30am. They also added Saturday's for parents who can't do weekdays. They read books, sing, dance and after we get 30min of playtime. I honestly love coming to Baby Bounce. It's a fun way to bond with your baby. Meet other Moms, Dads and Babies. I highly recommend it to all parents. You can also go for a walk at the waterfront after, it's right across the street. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do .

Given its humble, controversial roots going back 30+ years ("Why do we need a library, anyway?!!"…read more It costs my tax dollars!!") this marvelous resource for a smallish town has developed organically and creatively into one of the finest culture, fun and artistic resources a town like ours would want. Over the years, they've never been shy about trying out new policies, events, concerts, outdoor equipment/travel loans, guest speakers and internet webinars.... At 75, I'm running out of breath. But it's crystal clear that they've developed a staff and volunteer team that has fine morale and structure, creative ideas, pleasant and supportive customer service, prompt assistance whenever able, and a truly welcoming atmosphere for the broad, diversified population that it serves -- from toddlers to we senior humans: great job Benicia Public Library! Seldom has persistence, respect and innovation paid off so well for so many. Graci! Rob Peters

So I was disappointed and in disbelief that they turned me away. Unbelievable. When we purchased a home, it had to be close to a Library, and school(s). Consider rewriting your policies. Love the library.

This is such a nice public library! There are always a ton of activities for everyone at any age…read more There's even performances in the library on certain weekends. There is an area that sells used books for a good price. There's also a seed library if you happen to garden. To incentivize children to read, there's also a program where you can enter their raffle after reading a certain number of books to win prizes. If you wanted to take a break and do some reading outside, you can chill in their courtyard. The staff is super friendly and the library itself is a nice size. Parking is very easy and plentiful.

Exterior is beautiful and modern, inside was welcoming with friendly staff, versatile reading resources and rooms, and a weekly Saturday family storytime hour. Brought my toddler to the Saturday storytime and it was a very popular event. There were many families in attendance and Miss Katie was very engaging and fun with songs, dances, and storytelling with the littles. We perused the library and there was a rocket ship playroom and troves of books for kids. There are also a few outdoor areas for eating, reading, breaks. No food or drinks are allowed inside. Will definitely return for the toddler friendly events. Also, get a library card and get access to the Discover and Go free museum opportunities. You can also borrow ebooks and audiobooks via the Libby app.

The Library is OPEN! The collection looks great and there are so many materials other than books…read morethat you can borrow for 3 weeks and more if you renew. You can borrow wifi hotspots and print wirelessly by sending it by email or send it through the solanolibrary.com website. One of the coolest new features are NO MORE LATE FEES :) The library is inclusive and provides everyone an opportunity to study, sit and live freely; of course following behavior policies. When I have a chance I stop by the 99 cent store to pick up a pack of socks, tooth brush pack and bar of soap to donate to someone in need. It's upsetting to read people's complaints about the unsheltered community. Heartless comments, they are human and have the same rights as you. Anyhow, the three items I usually buy at the 99 cent store cost less than a Starbucks coffee. Something to consider the next time you park your car, walk in with your lap top, cell phone, and a cup from Starbucks and want to complain about someone who obviously needs some assistance in life. Let's just focus on the positives that our Library brings to our community. Enjoy the pictures!

The other libraries that participate in story time do not lock the doors. Walked around the library and it was exactly what I remembered it being from when I used to go as a child. The only thing that's changed is that there are A LOT of homeless in the front and back of the library which is unfortunate. I don't think I'll be back to this library with so many others to choose from that don't have homeless hanging around outside. The back of the library near the water is still nice

After doing my research as a diligent pre-med, Touro has an osteopathic medical school with other graduate programs as well. Interested in their school, my friend and I scheduled a shadowing opportunity with their outreach admin/faculty. One of the shadowing opportunities they offer is for the OMM Lab (osteopathic manipulative medicine) where one can sit in their medical school class alongside their real medical students and learn! I shadowed one of their cranial OMM labs, and it was fascinating especially since I was into neurobio/psych. Their professor was very thorough in explaining the various ways on how to locate cranial anatomy and how to connect with the patient. Each student rotated and had a chance to practice OMM and experience it as well. From the time of initial contact to the end of my shadowing, Touro faculty and students were very accommodating and positively receptive. Big shoutouts to my medical student mentors, Jessie and Yvonne, who showed me the ropes and Jessie even performed OMM on me! Great time with wonderful people!
