Pinole Library can be crowded while class is in session. Thankfully students are not allowed to park at the library. Why am I giving Pinole Library a 5 star review...the librarians are helpful when I needed help. I been going here since the 1990s. When I was a student at Pinole Valley I tend to hang out at the library while waiting for my mom to pick me up. Since Hercules Library open the Pinole Library still gets people to come inside. The librarians are very helpful! As an example, when I could not read the font size in a book, the librarian got Libby to put the library book onto my Kindle so I could enlarge the font! Hooray!!! read more

I usually come here to print stuff. They do allow 10 pages per day. I use to come here a lot as a kid and the interior looked the same as it did in the 90s. The library isn't very modern like the one in Hercules. The staff here is friendly and they are always there to help. read more

Library has tons of computers and first 9 copies/print outs are free. Scanning is free. Employees are super helpful and nice.

Someone here wrote "this is a huge library" and it's the opposite. One of teh smaller libraries of the CCC library system. Not sure if this person has ever been to another library. This library is fine, it's small but okay. It's got the great "library smell" when you walk in (I like that smell). I think this is better for kids than adults but if you're like me and have books delivered here, it's fine to pick them up. Why only 3 stars though? It's the parking. It's absurd. It's always packed and partly because of the tennis courts. I can never ever find a parking space. I've lost a couple books I ordered because I can't get in on time. I go the parking lot, drive around and around and there is no where to park and most of those people aren't in the library. It's ridiculous. Get a bigger lot or have the tennis people park somewhere else. read more

Have been going here for 30 years since moving to Hercules. Although Hercules built a larger library several years ago I still prefer the low ceiling quiet place and darker space . Reminds me of Mid West libraries of my youth. peaceful and has individual glass fronted cubicles in the back facing the green outdoor bushes . Staff is ever gracious . There are some truly unique events for children--one last year with hula dancers. Though their book shelves are less stacked you can always use online to order books and pick up when ready. Thank you Friends of the Library older volunteers for their volunteer work on their annual book sale event every November. LONG OVERDUE REVIEW. I'm a mother to a 15 month old and for the first 10 months of his life we frequented morning story time. He goes to daycare in the mornings so we only go now when he skips daycare. We also attend their special events: The Insect Discovery Lab, The Swan Brothers Present Zippy's Almost World Famous Circus, The Caterpillar Puppets present Beto the Builder and more. Plus, after attending farmers market we may stop by to play with Legos, which is displayed during the week for all to see. read more

The hours at this library are limited; however, the Pinole library is open on the Friday when the Hercules library is closed. When I was trying to research the history of this branch I read that the library is the only branch in the Contra Costa system that has a premier Filipino collection in both English and Tagalo. This collection contains material on culture, history, and folklore. The Pinole Historical Society has a permanent exhibit and changing exhibits on display. I enjoy these exhibits. I like coming here because they have a table covered with staff recommended books and more selections on the end of the stacks. Displaying some books this way makes me feel that I am in a bookstore. It makes it easier to find an interesting book. read more

All libraries are tremendous resources, and Pinole's is a great example. There are resources for the homeless, help with your taxes, information on the town's history, and even a free seed library! Get your garden started! Even in fall, you can grow vegetables and herbs, provided by the Pinole Garden Club. Check out the little seed library at the desk by the children's section. read more

I used to come here a lot back in the days. They have a great selection of manga, one of the greatest of all the ccc libraries. I love this place. The people are kind and they have a great display case. They also have plenty of programs on the weekend and lots of help! Check online before you go to make sure they are open. They also have plenty of books a new shelf for all the new books. Very well organized. read more

do not recommend this library. had a terrible experience as a volunteer and will never return. the head of the volunteer program is very very inconsiderate and rude and disrespectful (Cora). she takes everything way too far. the experience I had volunteering at this library has resulted in me never returning, and I let everyone I know about my experience and to not go as well. it's really saddening what type of people run this library now. my mother was a member of friends of the Pinole library for awhile as well. oh well. for any students looking for volunteer work for whatever reason needed, do not go here. volunteer at animal refugee in San Pablo or literally any other library but this one. it will be a terrible experience. read more

Exciting news! Pinole City Council just voted to extend the library hours to 35 hours per week when agreeing to re-open our contract with the county library after over a decade (end of fiscal year 2019). Watch for new hours in 2019! This is a building that is aging but comfortable, and has a staff that has been stretched by short hours and full parking lot (try parking next door at the church lot). All are welcome. The community room, where the carpet needs a good steam cleaning as tots and children eat hundreds of healthy lunches here during school break in summer, is well-served with all these free services: three book clubs, tot programs, meditation group, tutoring, tech resources; and is convenient to reach, available for reservation by home-schooler groups and presentations, study groups, etc. Best collection of Filipino books, manga in the county. If you've forgotten or lost your borrowing card, no problem if you have photo ID, like driver's license. read more

I have been going here ever since I moved right up the street in Pinole. My mother in law goes every week also. The only advice to give would be that I wish they were open more days out of the week. Other then that, I have never had an unpleasant experience and I love the staff. They have been helpful every time I have been there. I only have positive memories to share from my experiences with this library. read more

I rarely come here these days. Why go to the library when I can get all my resources online and my schools library. I come here for the tennis courts kudos for that. So yeah, last time I was here, the staff was extremely rude. Here are the reasons. 1. It was pouring rain and it was cold outside, I was standing inside by the door for not even a minute and this rude staff came up to me and said " you can't hang out here, either you get out or sit down." wtf???!!!????? This guy was straight up rude. He does not talk to me like that. 2. I was sick one day and I was coughing, I took a sip of water to calm it down a bt. All of a sudden, this staff came up to me and said " you can't drink water in here, if you want water, drink from the fountain." again, wtf??!!???? It's just water, it's not anything sugary. In conclusion, I rather go to Starbucks. read more

I sometimes go to this library when the Hercules library is closed and it's not too much out of my way. It's a fairly large open spaced library. They have a hardback area and a paperback fiction area. There are several laptop stations set up against the back wall and facing the window. My latest trip to this library was during the heatwave because there is no air conditioning where I live. Parking is plentiful although a bit tight. read more

Pluses: - Open layout is nice when there's "nobody" there. Many tables seat four people, so a patron who arrives solo can spread out. - It's super quiet! Minuses: - Dim lighting! - Hours of operation (too few) - If those wonderful but tightly packed work tables fill up with patrons, it surely must be a seething, squirming mass of noisy humanity. read more

I liked that there were a lot of open tables available but not all tables have outlets. This library is one of the older ones in the area but we ended up here because it was open earlier than Hercules. Big open space plan, conveniently located near the trader joes shopping center and the schools, lots of parking, nice staff, but just your standard library. The collection seems smaller than El Sobrante but it is quieter here. I still prefer Hercules and orinda but granted those are newer branches too. read more

We have recently moved to Pinole and we were excited to see that there was a library in the neighborhood. We have used the library at least once a week since we got here, and I really like it. A few positives to note, my children have checked out tons of books including, audio and read along books, the staff is really nice, calm and helpful, and I just saw that they have a weekly meditation. I am glad to see such a nice space that is free to the community! read more
