The Crockett Library is celebrating its 100 birthday this year. It has been in this former Bank of…read morePinole building for many years. This very small library seems warm and comfortable to me. It reminds me of the small library in Oakland that I went I was young enough to participate in summer reading programs and give book reports to Miss Alice. There are two computers, some chairs, and tables. And of course books. A sign on the window says they have story reading for tots. I like to check out with a librarian, and not be pushed in to using the self-checkout, not for any reason other than I enjoy the interaction. Both times I've been here the librarians have been friendly. I am sure that the kids think they are great and will remember them years from now, just like I remember Miss Alice. Why is a 5 star library when it is so small? It's is warm and inviting. It takes me back in time when a trip to the library was a big deal.

Since the fire and re-opening the library still attracts people to come inside to check out books, studied, or nap (I seen someone catching up sleep but dare not to snore). The librarian was polite on informing what been going on with the library since it re-opening. I was informed about events the library are holding. The variety of programs are amazing. They offer yoga, family story time, story time for little ones, ESL classes for parents, teen gaming, art therapy, bilingual meditation, chess club, IT (any technical questions) and after-school meals during the summer and more! The library also has a Wellness Team available on Wednesdays and Thursdays, Vicky, Andrea & Natalie are absolutely thee BEST and provides valuable services and support for unhoused community members. What truly sets this library apart is its welcoming atmosphere. The staff is always friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to help. The library is well-organized, AND security (Brittany & Nay) does an excellent job of ensuring everyone feels safe and comfortable. The San Pablo Library is so much more than a place to borrow books--it's a true community hub. It's been years since I have been here and learned that the kids library that was on the first…read morefloor (last time I remembered) had been moved to the second floor with the adult section. It is very open and spacious with tables with computers and chairs spread throughout. There is also an area in the back for kids and even a play area. Self check out kiosks in the front which were very interesting and quick to use. My mini me and her baby came to get some books and have a little fun in the kids area before we headed home. The little one enjoyed her time exploring and choosing books too. I need to come back and renew my library card and see about checking some items out.

Lacks the bells and whistles of the Pleasant Hill Library and the Walnut Creek Library but honestly, if you want to spend some time with your littles to really focus on studying, reading and sit down activities - - this branch is more conducive that as there are no outdoor spaces and lots of fancy toys to lure them away from "study" time. LOL. Love public libraries and general and I'm glad to find a hidden gem where we can have our child experience the classic "let's stay quiet and read" library feel. Why am I giving Springstowne a five star rating? The lirbarians were kind of me for answering my questions plus they were nice to give me two free COVID-19 Test to take home with me. I don't have a library card with them but they were nice to me for answering my questions. I will say that this library is small but at least they have computers to use. Parking can be rough to find since you have to find street parking near the library or just walk from the shopping center.
