Quiet Study Area
Tammy N.

Cute place to study with lots of parking in the lot. The library is pretty clean and modern looking. Family friendly!

it's such a pretty building and has so many amenities inside, but i came here from 6-8pm on a Tuesday and it was SO LOUD. They had just ended a child reading time(?) and the parents stayed and socialized. which is fine, if their kids weren't screaming bloody murder for 20 minutes straight (it's their bedtime) and the ones trying to study eventually all got up and left. it's my first time here & hoping it's not always like this, especially so close to closing when kids should be going to dinner/bed. i'm a preschool teacher so i'm used to child noise but this was a bit much even for me.

Quiet and very clean! A bit noisy between 2-4 pm. Plenty of parking most of the time.

It is extremely impolite to leave someone on hold for over 20 minutes without letting them know about hold time.

Ask the Community - Pleasant Hill Library

Is there a toddler-friendly area in the new Pleasant Hill Library?

I'm looking for a very kid friendly library in the area, willing to drive a bit. Which would you say is the most kid friendly?

Here is my opinion of some central county libraries: The good:… Read more

Is there an outside book drop off for after hour book returns?

Yes! when you walk up towards the entrance of the library, your drop off box will be on your right hand side of the building. :)

This community college library is located on the DVC Pleasant Hill campus (DVC also has a satellite…read morecampus in San Ramon, but without a library). It's been updated in regard to technology, but the study tables, etc. remain the same. Online access to the library and peripheral resources is excellent! The computer lab and the classroom at the far end of the library are nice and new and set up to promote a positive learning environment. You can also get a DVC Connect Card at the circulation desk if you don't want to go to the Student Life Office. The students who staff the library are nice and helpful.

This library is strange…read more I have a like/ hate relationship with it. I like the copy machine and the printers, which saved me enough times as a student. The staples are free and all you have to do is load your card up with monies and you can use them any time you need. I hate being brought here for class "field trips" because beyond forced here for them, I never once used this library for any sort of research. Thats what the internet's is for. Duh. I like they wanted to teach us how to use the online site to look up information, because coming through those security doorways always hurt my ears so I never got into falling asleep here like others. I hate that there are no liquids allowed in here. I always had to hide my hot chocolate when making copies. And you ain't really lived until you've spilled hot chocolate in a library. I like that I never have to come here again... no wait... love. I love that I never have to come here again.

The old Barnes and Nobles you could spend a couple hours walking around looking at books. This is the light version. Unfortunately online stuff has put us in the situation where you can go into this bookstore and cover the whole place in around 15 minutes. I was looking at the "horror" section and it's okay but again, the light version. Also the fact everything is so expensive now also doesn't help. A paperback was 20 bucks. I'm not paying 20 bucks for a book I'll read once that I can get a the library for free. Magazine prices are absurd. I did find a couple that were 8 bucks but most are over ten and usually more. For a magazine. I hope this type of place keeps going but I can see why they don't. Support your local book store.

Delighted to find it was lower than Amazon and even some other online used bookstores. I arrived at Barnes & Noble and decided to browse a bit before picking up the book. I find the layout of the store quite easy to navigate. For the most part items are easy to find. As I was browsing, a clerk named Kara asked if I needed any help. That's always nice. As it turned out she also helped me when I went to the checkout area for my book. For some unknown reason the online price did not pop-up and I was reluctant to pay the full price (less the 10% member discount). Kara was very diligent about finding the originally quoted price. Very refreshing to find good customer service. That's what keeps customers coming back!
